Chapter 2: Prejudice

P͟o͟v͟: Lérin

This is it. This is the moment I've been waiting for. I take a deep breath... Take a step back... Clench my fist... And wham!! I slam my fist forward hitting the person in front of me right in the face. It feels squichy and gross. No wonder. That fat little... I feel the adrenaline pumping through my system. The blood gushing violently through my veins. My face turns red and my vision blurs as my eyes fill with tears of pure rage. I breathe heavily as I see how the boy in front of me stumbles back, taken aback. He stares back at me with a dumbfounded look on his face as if he was still processing that I͟ had hit h͟i͟m͟. But that surprised look dissappears just as fast as it came. His brows pull together, causing him to frown deeply, making his face even more repulsive than usual. He clenches his teeth and droplets of sweat trickle down his meaty cheeks.

"Ha! So the freak decided to strike back huh?" He laughs, yet there is nothing amusing about it.

"My turn now." He snarls in my face.

He makes a gesture to the boys behind him and their faces immediately turn dark as they start walking towards me. One of them starts talking in a mocking tone.

"I thought Elves were meant to be so much superior to us? That wasn't very smart though." He cackles as he cracks his knuckles one by one. Another boy continues where the other left off.

"Oh, I get it though! You're not an Elf. Not a human either... You are filth!!"

I stumble back a few steps, the rage inside me turning into panic in seconds. I look around desperately, trying to find a way out of this situation. I am surrounded. Their words whirl around me like a hurricane. I cover my ears with my hands and make myself as little as possible, but no luck... The boy I just hit, Turo, grabs my hand and pulls it away from my ear. It feels like my hand will snap, along with my arm too maybe... He snarls in my ear, sounding more evil then a snake hissing at its powerless prey.

"You are nothing more then dirt... You disgusting halfbreed."

He laughs loudly, right into my ear, making me crumble to the ground. I feel his hands pushing me and I smack face down into the half melted snow. I know what will happen next. I know it all too well and powerless I try to shut everything out around me. Warm tears run down my cheeks as I feel the punches landing. Kicking, hitting, yelling... My mind goes blank and I simply endure. I guess this was to be ecpected. I will never fit. I will never be accepted. I'm a halfblood after all...
