34 Chapter 34: Deserve the Best

The tension between them seemed to have dissipated. When they got up, it was as though nothing had happened.

"Stuart, I need to talk to you." Stuart walked over to the living room, sat beside her on the sofa, and extended his legs, "Sure."

"I... I got a new acting job," Edie thought of Stuart's contemptuous attitude towards her career in the morning and felt bitter. "I knew you wouldn't be happy to hear about it, I'm sorry, but I will not stop acting. I know you may look down on me, but I don't care; it's my career, and it's what I want to do."

She knew she had to confront him before he found out from someone else. Stuart looked at her with a frozen gaze and nodded, "Congratulations." Edie looked at him in surprise, "You're not upset?"

Stuart's deep slim eyes focused on her face, "If that's what you want to do, then do it. I think I might have made a mistake yesterday, and I shouldn't have meddled with your choices." Edie never dreamed that a man like Stuart would say something like, "I might have made a mistake."

From the first time they met, he had always been on a high horse. It was a habit he formed from his social status over the past twenty years. He had the pride of a real nobleman, but he admitted his fault — her heart feel warm inside.

She smiled cheerfully, "It's an outstanding T.V. series, a thirty million dollar production! I'm supporting actress, and it's the first time I've ever gotten such an important role." You could see the sparkle in her eyes as she spoke.

Seeing her in such high spirits, Stuart felt that he had made the right decision. "That's good," he said. Stuart, who does not reveal his feelings, wore a faint smile on his face.

"The Korean screenwriter seemed to like me, and I was flattered, it felt like I was dreaming. Danny couldn't figure out why I got this role, he said it was either because I slept with the producer or the producer's daughter, "As if, ha ha ha..."

Edie wanted to share her whole day with someone, and her face covered with excitement like a child. "Well, he guessed it wrong. You didn't sleep with was not some random producer, but the CEO of L.N. Group."

Edie didn't get his hidden meaning and thought he was joking, and she said with a smile, "Of course, I'm not interested in those backdoor deals. Maybe the producer of "White Love Song" saw my previous work and thought that I fitted the role.

I wonder who made this decision? Whoever he is, has good taste. If I get to know who he was, I will definitely thank him in person." Stuart stared at her beautiful face, "How are you going to thank him?"

Edie was troubled. This person did a huge favor for her; only thanking him in words wouldn't be enough. Since she's not currently in an excellent financial condition, acknowledging him with money wouldn't be feasible either.

"Currently I don't have much money, if he needs me to do anything for him, I would happily accept." Is that a good idea? Stuart nodded, "Yes, that's better than thanking him with money."

Edie recalled something and said, "I'm filming in two days. I'll have to move out temporarily and live at the filming site." Edie felt embarrassed, and she figured that Stuart might not care, but she still couldn't help but observe his facial expressions while speaking. She wanted to know what his reaction was going to be.

Stuart had no emotion on his face and no reaction to her words. He indeed doesn't care at all. Why would he care about such a small incident anyways?

"I'll tell them to move all your stuff over; there's no need to worry."

"Huh?" Edie looked up in surprise and refused instinctively, "Moving all my stuff? Actually, there's no need to move it all, and I'm only filming for two months…."

"Don't worry about it, I'll arrange it for you." Stuart quietly said, his tone of voice had a sense of easiness to it as if he was on top of the world. Edie didn't know what to do. She didn't want to move all her things out?

Seeing Edie upset, Stuart's eyes warmed, and he said inadvertently, "Come back to stay when you have a day off." Edie lifted her head up and looked at him in confusion.

"Don't forget, you're my wife, and my family might visit at any time. If they don't see you, then our plan would fall to the ground." His eyes were grave as if they could see right through her.

Right, how could she forget about their business deal? "Trust me, and I will not mess it up." Edie immediately promised earnestly. When he saw her serious face, Stuart's smile deepened and took out a black card.

"Take it," Edie was startled; it was a secondary card of a black premium credit card. "There's no limit on this card, buy whatever you want with it." He would not admit what Todd said, "the man is responsible for making money while the woman is responsible for being pretty" indeed, it made a ripple in his heart.

Just thinking about her buying something with his card made him feel joy. This had never happened before. Edie was so surprised, and he wanted her to know that the card had no limit, she pushed it back at once, "No, why are you giving me this to me, I can't use your money."

"You're now Mrs. Yates, and this is how you should be treated."

"But, we're in a fake marriage," Edie said out of instinct. Her words sounded harsh; Stuart's eyes cooled down.

"To make my family believe this is a real marriage. You have to make yourself believe that you're Mrs. Yates. Money spent on dealing with my family obviously should be paid by me."

Seeing her still in hesitation, Stuart said frigidly, "If my family finds out, can you take responsibility for that?" How could she take responsibility for the heir of L.N. Group? Her earnings for a whole year couldn't even buy a toilet from the L.N. building.

Edie was finally persuaded; she took the black card, "I understand." Stuart's face eased up a bit, he stood up and said to Edie, "Let's go." Edie was confused, "Where?"

Stuart's black eyes had an unusual expression, "It's time to apply the cream." Apply the cream. Skin to skin… Body to body… Edie thought of the subtle sparks between them last night and felt numb inside.

She was in a hundred percent regret, why did she agree to do it for Stuart from the beginning? There's now no going in and no turning back. Stuart's slim body stood by the staircase. He could see that Edie was not following, he did not urge her, but just turned his head and looked at her.

He was born a king, and even when standing casually, he had an aura surrounding him, as no one could deny him of his desires. Edie took a deep breath. It's just applying a cream, no big deal. She followed Stuart upstairs.
