28 Chapter 28: Unknown Actress

Edie knew that she made a mess of her audition yesterday. She also knew that Danny would be tough on her. She knocked on the door cautiously and then moved forward with a broad smile after she heard "come in." She entered slowly.

"Hey, Danny…"

Watching her come in, Danny just sat there arrogantly, giving a snort. Edie walked in and looked at Danny miserably. "You know, right? That I should not be blamed. It's not my fault."

"My Princess, that easy for you to say. The Knight-Errant crew now blames you. They've had complaints and are being forced to shut down."

Edie got so mad when they heard the news. "It's unreasonable. I'm also a victim. I fell on the ground and even smashed my face, but as for Stuart. Obviously, there were flaws in their safety measures. How could they blame others for their own doing? It was no one's fault, but their own."

Danny's expression changed a little bit. "I was just about to ask you. You and Stuart? Why would he appear in the audition and save you the way he did? Why was he even there? I really don't understand?" He made a point, but Edie didn't know how to explain it to him.

If she told Danny the truth that she made a deal with Stuart by getting married, he would freak out. "Um, we… I don't know him." Edie stammered, her voice became lower and lower."It was a coincidence that he was so close and saved me." She avoided his eyes. Danny didn't buy it.

"Edie, we've been friends for many years, and I have never wronged you, right? Don't fool with me. I know there is something else. I know you, and I know when you are not telling me the truth. What is going on?"

Edie was afraid of being found out, so she avoided giving him a direct answer. "Hey, he's StuartYates. He can have any woman he wants. How could he be fond of a star like me? I am not famous." Besides, he didn't like women at all, but she didn't say it out loud.

Danny looked up and down at Edie and was convinced. "You are right. You are not even attracted to me." Gays' tastes were exceptional, huh? Edie wanted to refute but finally restrained. Her cheeks flamed and turned an embarrassing red because she held back her tongue.

Danny was not mad at her because of the accident yesterday. Edie leaned in, blinking her shining eyes."Danny, are there any other dramas?"

"Well, there is. There's something that I need to tell you." Danny curled his lips."The boss thought you damaged the company's reputation and asked that you take off two months. No auditions for you." It was indeed a bolt from out of the blue. Edie had broken away from Greg's years ago.

Hence the reason she didn't have any source of income apart from her job. However, because of what happened between her and Danny last year, she slid into depression and missed bunches of opportunities, which could have made her more famous. Also, that's why the company was not willing to give her any good resources. To maintain a decent living, you needed money.

If she is really stopped working for two months, she will spend all she had, every last penny."Danny, I need money. You know that, right? I can't stop working. I will die."

"I need money, too. You know you could have made a hit last year, but you ruined it. The boss and the leaders are disappointed with you. If you do it again, you might be hidden forever…you will never get another chance." The door was knocked open before Danny could finish it.

Danny was a big-name agent in the entertainment world. No one dared to hit his door in such a rude manner."What was going on? Who dares to open my door without knocking?" He turned around and roared. The person who came here didn't come to Danny. She was so excited that she even ignored Danny. "Miss Lara, congrats!"Her eyes blink as she saw Edie was here.

Edie was confused. She was just informed that she had to stop working, and then she came here to congratulate her. Was she insane? When she finally realized who the person was, she became more confused. Erica was from the Resource Department. Usually, Edie and the other actresses didn't even get a glance from her because she was in a department which distributed auditions for them.

She never gave Edie a look before, but right now, she pleased her with a flattering smile. "I always knew that Miss Lara would have her day. You are beautiful, talented, and, most importantly, professional. I knew you would be famous one day. Now, the chance finds you."

Danny and Edie looked at each other in puzzlement. "Erica, what are you talking about?" Edie asked. Erica's cheeks flamed a radiant smile. "Oh, you don't know, we just got the news. The White LoveSong wants you to audition for the supporting actress Susan Wilson."

The White Love Song? Edie thought it sounded familiar. She recalled instantly that Zoe's assistant had mentioned it yesterday. The White Love Song was a new drama invested by the Universe Entertainment for three hundred million. It was a hot co-production of the United States and Korea. Ten expert screenwriters composed a team and worked on it for two years. Besides, the star line-up was extraordinarily popular.

The lead actress was Queenie Fox, who was awarded the best lead actress for several years now. She was in the drama, and it would definitely be a hit. Speaking of the lead actor Charles Sims, he was the new most popular actor right now.

The shows he played in would become famous because of him. It didn't matter if he played a little or a prominent part in the play. The end result was always the same.

"Me? The supporting actress?" Edie couldn't believe it. The drama had already made a hit even before the shooting. Edie knew that Erica and her department never recommended actresses in the company to audition for any show.

So no one ever got in. Now, the crew asked her to try unexpectedly. How could this happen? She was an unknown actress.

"Right, it's you. I didn't expect that they would change actresses right before the shooting. They must have watched your work and thought you were more qualified." Erica buttered up because she knew how she had treated Edie before.

"The first day I sawMiss Lara, I've always known that you are extraordinary. You will become a superstar. Don't forget me if you…" Erica was still muttering and grumbling. Danny couldn't bear it any longer and interrupted her. "Hey, Erica, I need to talk with Edie."

"Of course." She grinned. "Miss Lara, remember the meeting with our department." Erica walked out and closed the door. Suddenly, they were immersed in a weird silence. Danny studied Edie with a mixed expression. Edie didn't know what was going on either and could only look back at him. It seemed that both of them were waiting for an explanation from each other.

A few minutes passed by, and Danny finally couldn't contain himself any longer. "Edie, tell me the truth. Technically, I don't believe that you would not sleep with the producer in exchange for the chance to play in a film. So what happened? Is the producer your dad?"

Edie thought it was ridiculous. The producer was definitely not her dad. Her father, birth father, would not spend a penny on her career in acting. "Um, maybe the producer has been possessed by an alien?" Edie laughed.

"Bah! It's nonsense." Danny leaned in closer. "Tell me the truth. What have you secretly done?"

Edie instantly raised three fingers. "Danny, I swear to the lamp, it's not me. Do you really think I can change the star line-up of a three hundred million dollar drama?"

He was right. Edie had no deep background, no powerful backstage experience since she has been in this industry. All she had was herself. Danny knew there was more to it. "But…Is there really an alien in this world?" Danny pinched his chin murmuring.
