17 Chapter 17: Anger

Zoe frowned on purpose and said, "knight-errant?" It was familiar, but she couldn't remember the name. "Judy, do you remember ?" Zoe's assistant, who had worked for Zoe for a long time, knew what she was talking about.

She quickly responded, "It sounds like the show that you rejected last week. The director Cain said that it fitted your style and wanted you to do it."You were already working on the drama The White Love Song, and you decided that you wouldn't have enough time to do both."

The White Love Song was a significant play for the entertainment company this year. The company had invested a lot of money in co-filming with Korea. The drama was written by two of the most famous screenwriters from South Korea and China. The director was also a famous person in the entertainment world.

All the directors thought that this TV series would most definitely be a Golden Globe Award for the best television series. They hadn't started shooting yet, but the popularity of all the advertisements was already very high. Zoe was obviously rubbing it in that Edie was not famous in the movie industry and that she only got the audition because she refused.

Edie could tell that Zoe was feeling uncomfortable because of the whole situation, but it was her own fault for being so stingy. Edie thought to herself, "just because of a small online competition, and she's making a public mockery of her, how childish it that?"

Edie didn't know that Zoe initiated the online competition and that she had bought people's votes for her to come in the first place. Zoe did it so the director of The White Love Song could see her popularity on the internet. It was a chance for her to show the public that she could have a leading part in a film.

She just did not expect that Edie would come in the first place. How could she? She had only worked for two years, and now she has robbed her of her popularity. How could she not be angry? Although she finally got the part, the hatred for Edie did not diminish. In her heart, she thought Edie deliberately bought her own votes like she did to win.

Zoe felt the need to embarrass Edie today. Edie suddenly smiled with a gentle and modest expression. "Miss. Zoe has been working for eight years longer than me, and she is my predecessor. I saw Miss Zoe's acting in high school. Even though you were not the leading actress, your acting dominated the lead actress, and it's very fortunate for me to have the privilege to be able to work with Miss Zoe now." Zoe's expression changed.

Edie's words had two meanings. One was that she grew up watching Zoe's plays and that she had been working for so long; therefore, she was too old to play the part. The other is that Zoe had been unable to have any lead roles in films. She had been trying to become a female co-star for years

Still, she had no chance of becoming the lead actress. She was never really famous. This was like a punch to Zoe's face. In showbiz, no woman wanted to be said as getting old.

Many actresses changed their looks and refused to admit the fact that they were old. They wanted to stay young and beautiful. In showbiz, if you got old, it meant unemployment.

There were countless young and beautiful women trying everything to get a part in the film industry, so no one wanted to see an older woman.

You not only needed to be attractive to become an actress, but it also involved a broad range of skills, which Zoe lacked. Edie's words were right, but it still poked directly into Zoe's pain. She was already twenty-nine years old and looked like she was twenty-five, but the collagen had begun to drain from her face.

She applied thick eye cream every night, but still had fine lines around her face every morning.

Her beauty was slipping away, but she still hasn't had a role as a lead actress yet, and there was no way she could retire without being famous.

If she were to leave showbiz, she would be a joke. Everyone would say, "she had never had an important role in her whole ten years of her acting career." What she cared about most was exposing the newcomer. She was getting so irritated that she didn't care what people thought about her. She rushed over to Edie and said, "You bitch, get out of here!"

The makeup artists didn't want them arguing in the dressing room. They grabbed Zoe by the arm and calmly said, "Don't be angry, Miss Zoe. Take a deep breath and calm down. Everything will be okay."

"She's right, Miss Zoe, you two are friends and do the same job, you will see each other again." Zoe was so angry that she didn't care about anything. Her anger was stirring up inside of her, and no one could control her. She didn't care who she hurt. She slapped one of the makeup artists right in the face.

"You are all involved in this!" The makeup artists relied on these actresses to eat, and it was their job. There was no way that anyone dared to offend Zoe. She couldn't hide; the only thing she could do is take the hit. Her face immediately turned red, and her eyes suddenly began to moist. "Crack" The crisp sound of a camera snapped. Zoe suddenly looked up. Edie had taken a picture of what had happened with her cell phone.

She saw Zoe looking at her, and she smiled. "Miss. Zoe, come on and pose for the camera. These are great pictures. I didn't expect my phone would take such a clear picture." Zoe realized what Edie had done, and she got even angrier. She rushed over and tried to grab Edie's phone, but was blocked by Rhoda.

"Miss. Zoe, do you realize what you are doing? You have a name to keep," she said. "Who are you, and what qualifications do you have to talk to me like that?" said Zoe. She raised her hand and wanted to slap her again. "Miss. Zoe, I advise you not to do this."

Edie looked at her, and then she shook her cell phone and smiled. "If the photos of you hitting the woman in public are posted online? I wonder if your fans will be so supportive of you?" she said.

"I don't think your company will protect you." Zoe's hands froze in midair, and for a moment, she thought about what she had said. She was afraid that Eddie would do it, but she was not too enraged to let go.

Zoe's assistant saw the situation, she pulled Zoe over and said carefully, "Miss. Zoe, this is a critical moment. The film hasn't started shooting yet, and if any bad news were to get out, then the director of the movie may let you go." Zoe was startled.

Indeed, she was not a famous actress, and The White Love Song was going to be a hit. If she were discredited, the director would never protect her. She got this opportunity by having sex with several of the producers. She was confident that she would become famous, and she knew that she couldn't ruin her future because of Edie.

Zoe's anger was hard to subside. She had to calm down. She could barely stand it, but she stared angrily at Eddie and said, "Could you please delete the photos?" Edie smiled softly. "Miss. Zoe, if I sell this photo to the Orange Weekly, how much do you think they would give me? I can see it now. The headline would read The pure actress, Zoe Ann beat someone." Oh, how satisfied I felt when I thought about it.

The Orange Weekly was a famous magazine. As long as they had news, they would publish it, and it was useless for stars to spend money to let people destroy it.

"Eddie, do you want to live? Do you? How dare you offend me!" Zoe was angry again.

"Having a life in showbiz is all her own doing. I don't need to rely on Miss. Zoe, so why should I be afraid of you?"

Zoe took two deep breaths, and the assistant of Zoe held her arms and looked at Edie. "What do you want?"

"One hundred thousand."

"What?" she said.

"One hundred thousand, and I will delete the picture and forgot about it."

Zoe chuckled. "Eddie, are you crazy? You want one hundred thousand dollars for one photo?"

Edie gently shook her phone. "So, Miss. Zoe doesn't think it's worth it." Edie said with a grinning smile.
