13 Chapter 13: At the Bar

Edie took over the script and went through the pages, and it was the script for the supporting role of Knight-Errant! The audition is in three days. Knight-Errant is a novel, now being put into a TV series. It was written by a famous author who has millions of readers. It is a big production, according to her position in the showbiz her chances are small. Danny didn't lie to her, and he must have been working hard to get her an audition.

Edie was touched, "Danny, you are such a good sister to me." He was always friendly and helpful to Edie since he is gay; she always saw him as her sister despite his gender. Danny grunted, "Actresses and actors meeting is on today; don't even think about getting away."

For Danny's sake, Edie attended the meeting for the whole day, from reading scripts to future planning, she was so exhausted at the end of the day. The meeting was finally over, Edie drove to Melissa's magazine office right away just in case someone called her to another meeting.

Melissa came out of the building looking in every direction except for Edie's, Edie had no choice, but to honk her horn. When she turned her head towards Edie, Melissa glanced at her as if she had seen a ghost.

"Edie, I thought you had a sugar daddy since you stayed out all night and got a new car. Now I'm sure it's not true when I see your car." Edie pinched Melissa's face with a smile on her face, "What are you saying?"

"What kind of sugar daddy buys his mistress an ORV? Tell me the truth, did you win the lottery?" Melissa said with a serious face. "I have to tell you something." Edie thought through her wording, and it seemed that no words could be found, "I'm married."

Melissa was silent for about three seconds. Then she screamed like crazy, "WHAT? It's only been two days, and you're married? What the fuck? Edie Lara, are you crazy! You are a celebrity! You can't just get married like this! Have you ever thought about my feelings! We've been living together for three years, and you didn't even tell me beforehand!"

Edie covered her ears and waited until Melissa calmed down, then said, "It's a fake marriage, don't get too agitated. I need his help to get my Mother's necklace back, and he needs mine to solve his family problems. There's no real relationship between us, and we are just taking advantage of each other. After half a year, the deal will terminate, and it will be all over."

Of course, Edie did not talk about that night that she and Stuart had spent together. She told Melissa briefly about the relationship between her and Stuart. Melissa slammed her leg as she finished listening, "This is more cliché than the TV series! Having met the asshole, Donald was already bad enough, and now this? Are you some sort of a good man insulator? Tell me his name, and I'll search him up for you to see if he's reliable."

Melissa is a journalist. She has connections, and her lips are sealed. Therefore, Edie chose to tell her, "His name is Stuart Yates." When Edie spoke of his name, Melissa's facial expression became subtle. "What's the matter?" Edie was puzzled.

"Not someone with the same name, right? Are you talking about the heir of LN Group? Stuart Yates?" Edie nodded. Melissa took a deep breath, looked at Edie, and said gingerly, "Do you know that Stuart Yates is gay?" Edie widened her eyes and forgot to blink. She was truly astonished.

She had always thought that all gays were like Danny. Girly, feminine, and has excellent taste in fashion. She could not imagine substituting Stuart into this kind of figure. Edie did notice that there was something off about Stuart; however, she had always seen it as some peculiar hobby an upper-classman would typically possess. Who would have thought he is gay!

But that night, he was pretty masculine. "I don't think so… he doesn't look like one," As Edie doubted, Melissa took out an iPad from her bag, opened up a document and handed it over to her, "This is our magazine's internal information, I'm only showing it because it's you."

The document was very long, and the contents were written evidence of Stuart being gay. The report contained information about the Executive Office of the LN Group, from junior secretary to senior secretary; all of them were male. There were also some photos of Stuart in England, and they seemed to be sneak shots since the pictures were dark and obscure. It looked like they were in a club, many of them had blonde beauties in their arms, except for Stuart, he was the only one who had a man sitting by his side.

The document even contained a list of Stuart's servants back in England, no woman either! Melissa saw Edie's baffled face and said, "This information was sent to us by an unknown person, we have verified them. These photos were not photoshopped, the secretary's story was real too, however where he lived was guarded too strictly, we couldn't possibly find out."

Edie thought that it must be valid since Stuart did not hire female servants either! The only reason why the two maids Carol and Carey were hired was because of her. "So, are you going to release this into the public?" Melissa shook her head, "Not at all, no magazine in this country could publish scandals on Stuart Yates. I can show you this, that is about all I can do." Edie let out a sigh of relief, Stuart is not a bad guy, she does not wish to see him being attacked by those magazines.

Edie took Melissa to a Japanese restaurant. Her mind wandered during the entire meal pondering over what she just saw. After they had finished, Edie took Melissa home. When they had arrived, Edie said with hesitation, "Melissa, I may not be able to live with you for a while. The Yates' family may come at any time. Since I made a deal with him, I have to abide by my promise. Don't worry, and I'll continue to pay the rent so that you won't have to move."

Melissa tapped Edie on the forehead, "Forget about the deal, if you can't stand him no more call me, I can look after you. Don't push yourself too hard." Edie nodded; she was touched by Melissa's words.

After Melissa left, Edie did not go in haste. Instead, she stayed in the car and stared blankly into the air. Suddenly, her phone rang. Edie picked up the phone, an unfamiliar male voice said, "I have things to tell you, it is about Stuart."

Edie was confused as the words smashed in her ears, she frowned and asked, "Who are you? How did you get my phone number? What do you have to do with Stuart?" The man chuckled, which sounded a little enchanting, "My identity does not matter. I am aware that you are married to Stuart; however, there are many things that you are unaware of." When she heard this, Edie's heart missed a beat.

"I will give you half an hour, come to The Nightingale Bar, and I will tell you everything. Remember, you can only come alone, or else." The man hung up the phone and seemed to be sure that she would go. Edie clenched the phone in her hand. She hesitated for a moment and drove down the road in the direction of The Nightingale Bar.
