1 Disgusting

I ran as fast as I could. Through the flames of burning cars and over the piles of garbage my feet carried me. Gurgled screeching growls could be heard behind me and screaming in the distance as sirens blared. I just had to make it 4 miles and I'd be alright. My side ached and burned, my legs trembled, my feet pounded the pavement as I wheezed and gasped for air. My long black hair fell and flew wildly around my red freckled face and clung to the sweat dripping from my forehead and neck as the sun beat down letting it's fury known as the last rays of sunlight made their way across the horizon, creating a blood red sky matching the blood soaked earth. The end of society drew near as the grip of anarchy and chaos reigned supreme in people facing this mortal coil. I felt the pang of defeat as my side wretched and my feet became heavy under my useless noodles for legs.

As the sun set against a burning city if a horizon my vision blurred and I fell to the hard ground, the warmth of blood seeping from my side pooling around me. It's over, I felt the cold hand of death reach down for me, but not fast enough as I felt a sering pain enter my shoulder blade and I felt the grinding against my bone as what we're once human teeth tore deep into my flesh scraping all meat from my shoulder. Anew again I screamed awake, adrenaline rushing through my body letting me feel this torturous new way of death. Another mouth clasped around my arm, wrist and thigh as fingers and nails pushed into the flesh and tore chunks away. I bled out, pained tortured and eaten alive, as I slipped back into deaths sweet embrace.

I, woke? Glancing around I couldn't see much of anything as it was dark now. I could hear shuffling feet and light groans among ragged breaths. I don't know where I am but I don't seem to feel anything. I felt myself slipping away again, the empty retaking control of my consciousness no matter how I tried to make sense of my surroundings. Again I found myself coming to. It was moonlight and I could make out a grotesque mangled creature in front of me waddling around at arms length in a field. I jumped back and tried getting away. I couldn't feel my legs and I moved across the land as if I was gliding on wind until I lost myself again.

I came to in the grass and it was daylight. Birds chirped in tall trees of an unknown forest. I heard from behind me a faint groan and shuffling leaves. Slowly I turned and the figure I saw covered in blood from head to toe. The creature was bumping into a tree, trying to continue forward but didn't seem to notice me. Frozen in place as I watched the figure bump bumping its way around the trunk I noticed it was a girl with long dark hair. her hair now matted and full of sticks dirt and blood. She wore a tattered and torn dress, though dirty as the floor of the forest itself, it had the same pattern as mine. Upon closer inspection even the same colors. A sense of dread washed over me in tidal waves. I slowly, cautiously, looked down at my own body.

Translucent, and legs bent feet off the floor, I floated. I floated about a foot above the ground, without real legs. I was not alive. I was a ghost! That dirty ugly thing. That undead creature of disgust in my clothes, is me!
