3 Unwanted (1/2)

As time pass by, the treatment of my parents made me understood what my place is in their household.

When I was young I saw the difference of how they treat me and my older sister. However, as I grew up I then understood what I am to them.

The unwanted.

As a child I did every thing to be noticed by my parents.

When I was 6 years old, I saw my mother so happy. She was laughing together with my father while looking at a paper. So, I asked everyone around the house what happened. Then I learned that my sister Elsa got a high grade at school. She was within the top 20 of the 6th grader.

I realized, they were happy because Elsa achieved something. So, I decided to try harder in school. At my young age I thought if I strive harder to be a ranker at school, more than Elsa, then maybe my parents would notice me too and be proud of me.

And I did it, At 2th Grade I became one of the top 5 in my grade. I was so happy! I thought they would notice.

But they didn't.

So I tried learning more, maybe is if I excel more they would notice me. So, I learned how to play the Piano at the age of 7. And I was good at it. My teachers would always praise me of my rapid improvement. And I thought my parents would do to.

But they didn't.

I thought what I did was not enough so I look for things to excel at. At 10 years old, I discovered that speaking in different languages can amazed everyone. So, I tried learning many languages I started with Spanish, then French, German, then Italian. For 8 years I learned these languages even if I understood by 12 years old that my parents would never treat me like they treat my sister.

Maybe I was still hopeful, for them to show me even a tenth of how they love her.

But for the mean time, these things did not discourage me. So I tried harder to be closed to my mother.

One day when I was 8 years old. Mother and Elsa planned a shopping day out with their rich friends. And because I know I can never go shopping with her in normal days I decided to go this day. To try to be close with my mother.

"Mommy, I'm here." Emma said coming from the stairs running to her mother.

Shocked! Elizabeth Slone told Emma, "What are you doing here?!"

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm late Mommy. But I'm here now."

Elizabeth was fuming, 'what is this girl doing, she's embarrassing me in front of my friends'

"Oh! little Emma is coming. Hello dear how are you?", interrupted Elena Parker while looking dotingly at Emma. Elena has son at the same age as Emma so she wants the two to be paired together in the future. She can see how talented and intelligent Emma is.

"Hello Aunty Elena! I'm good. I cant wait to go shopping with you." Smiling to everyone Emma answered Elena.

"Ok then, lets go everyone", said Elizabeth promptly.

Everyone then went out and rode their cars to the Mall. While riding their car, Elizabeth was angry at Emma graling at her, she said, "you better behave Emma or I will call your father". While Elsa was looking at them then her cellphone with no care in the world.

"Dont worry mommy, I will behave," answered Emma looking at the floor nervously.

When they reached the Mall, everyone started shopping. Emma was amazed how everyone shoped. They bought many expensive bags, dresses, shoes, and accesories. She saw how Elsa shoped like no end while her mother was smiling happily at her.

So, Emma decided to get a dress and shoes too. She gave it to her mother happily. She thought because her mother was smiling while Elsa shops, then maybe she will be happy to when I do too.

"Mommy I like this!", while giving the dress and shoes.

Elizabeth was glaring at her. But, her friends stoped and looked at them. So Elizabeth did not have a choice but to recieved the dress and shoes.

After they shoped the ate and went home.

Emma was smilling happily holding the two shopping bags she got from the mall. She tought 'wow, mommy bought me a beautiful dress and shoes'. She was so proud not noticing the black face of her mother.

When they reached their house. They went in and Andrew welcomed them. Emma was so happy so she said her thank you's to her mother.

"Thank you so much mommy, I love the dress so much!" Not seing the hand of her mother.

SLAP!

"How dare you! You scheming girl! I let you go with us to not upset my friend! And what?! You still have the guts to ask for a dress from me? Do you know how much it is? 600$!!! Do you understand 600$! And you still have the gall to smile at my face?!" Shouted Elizabeth after slaping Emma. She was nagging and shouting at Emma non stop. In front of eveyone in their house.

As Emma recieved the slap and shout from her mother, Emma's mind become blank. As if she was not part of the situation. As if everthing is in slow mode. Then she looked at the shopping bags of Elsa worth around 10,000$.

It dawn to her she really is unwanted.
