Chapter 1: Frightened

Logan watched from the shadows as the girl stepped out of her car and looked behind her quickly, then ran inside her garage. Logan smiled and walked away with his hands in his pockets, his smile growing creepier by the minute.

"She thinks she can protect herself by running..." Logan mumbled.

-----------Three days later-----------

"Hey, Laila, can you go grab my sheets from the printer?" Harper asked. She was at work for the first time in a month and was thankful that no one asked where she had been. She was waiting when she got a notification from a chat website.

*ping*

She clicked on it and opened up the message, "Hey there HarpPlayer0203, how are you?"

The message came from Illuminlogan908.

"Hey Illuminlogan908, I'm fine, how are you?"

----------------------------------

Logan smiled from his chair in the abandoned office building he was in. His group was growing in number. Soon they would recruit Harper, and she would have no choice.

They had been chatting for a while and Harper needed to get back to work so she told Illuminlogan908 so. He just said, "I know you do. I will talk to you later." and left the chat.

She went back to her work. Little did she know that while she was working, Logan was doing his on special work... really the only work he knew how to do.

Later~

Tw/CW: blood mention

Slash! And blood everywhere from the body Logan just killed. A almost pleasant expression crept upon his face.

"And this is what happens to traitors!! We lock them up and torture them!" Logan yelled front of his gang. And the gang roused the place up in agreeing. Logan's gang was one of the most dangerous ones in the world. Maybe not ISIS, but the worst under ground gang in Shreveport, Louisiana and Logan was the chief of the leaders.

"Our next victim is someone who is more important than she realizes and belongs to our rival clan!" Logan shouted next.

At that the gang started screaming, "Out with the Wildebeests, in with the Pythons!"

Logan smiled and after the shouting quited down, said, "And her name is Harper Grace. None of you interfere with this one. Or really any of my projects." He said then chuckled. Everyone knew not to interfere with any of Logan's projects, one of the leaders learned the hard way...

Logan ended the meeting and went to his house. He had no lover, just a dog, a snake, and a lot of knifes.

It was about 6 and he knew Harper was getting off work so he decided to contact her.

Harper was sitting on her laptop at home doing work when she got a message from Illuminlogan908.

"Hiya Harper how ya doing?"

They had been talking for a week now and trusted each other a lot. And she knows that he has a snake and a dog. But Logan knew more about Harper than she knew about him.

"Hey Harper, do you wanna meet in real life? We have been chatting a lot and I really wanna get to know you in person." Logan suggested.

Harper was so excited that he suggested this.

"I was just about to suggest that!" Harper posted.

"So that's a yes?" Logan asked.

"Yes." Harper answered. And had no idea what she was getting herself into.

Logan spun his swivel chair and pumped his fists. He had the perfect cover story for this occasion. He would be Griffin, a man who name his accout after his deceased brother who died in a very strange accident.

"Meet me at the corner cafe SugarCube Coffeehouse tomorrow at 1:30?" Logan asked.

"Sure!" Harper answered enthusiastically.

With that Harper smiled and sat back in her chair and closed her laptop.

Logan, however, was sitting in his so called home with his snake, wondering how on Earth this was going to work, because after a week of talking to her, he wasn't so sure they should kill her... not yet anyways.

Harper drove to to the cafe and set the parking meter, then sat down at the table he instructed. She waited until a man with black eyes, brown fluffy hair and a snake tattoo trailing up his left arm and curling around it walked up to her table and sat down.

"Hey Harper, I'm Griffin." the man said.

"Hey Griffin." she said. "If your name is Griffin, then why is your username Illuminlogan908?" Harpet asked.

Griffin winced slightly. "It's kind of a sensitive subject, but basically my brother Logan died and the government wouldn't give us any answers." Griffin said.

"Oh I'm so sorry Griffin." Harper said. She put her hand on his arm as a show of sympathy.

Logan looked sad externally, but internally he was as happy as a coldblooded murderer and gang leader could be. He had gained Harper's trust and for some reason it pleased him more than he thought.

The feeling of her touch was sending tingles through his arm and it was an unnatural feeling to him.

"Let's not talk about that." Griffin/Logan said.

"Ok, well what about that tattoo?" Harper asked.

"The tattoo is just a fun gesture. I am a triplet, and all of us wanted to get the same tattoo when we grew up, but my brother died and my sister was too sick to get it with me so I got it alone." Griffin/Logan answered.

Logan was telling lies but he didn't care as long as Harper still trusted him. Lying was harder this time, though, because he felt a different feeling for Harper than he did his other projects.

Snap out of it Logan! He told himself. No need for distractions. This is not just a mere woman. This is the daughter of the king of the Wildebeests, his main rival.

~

The Wildebeests gang wasn't much of a family business thing for the King's family. His daughter was never told that her father was the King of the Wildebeests. Her mother was originally going to tell her and she did try to but it never worked out. Her father would always interfere because he wanted to protect her, even though she was old enough to know the truth.

Her family had always had red hair it's sort of a symbolic to her family even her own mother had red hair so did her father, it was a family DNA thing.

She couldn't see it that her father was always protecting her. And he would be pissed if he ever found out she even talked or chatted or met in real life with a Python much less a Chief, which she's done all of those things, but Logan knew what he was in for and what risks he was taking.

Logan was in his house thinking with his snake around his neck like he just threw a scarf on and didn't tie it up or anything. He was thinking about the feeling he felt when she touched him. Then he remembered the feeling he had with his wife. He married her straight out of high school till the Pythons made him do it, kill her.

But then it hit him, he liked Harper, but he couldn't he knew it would never be possible the Pythons want her to hurt the Wildebeests but if that fail she could end up dead or worse than dead, and that thought made him shiver. He could try to protect her. He could still date her and just make it look like the act. But then that would be getting a little too close to the Wildebeest King.

Now Logan just wondered what she thought of him. So he got up and poured himself a glass of whiskey and thought, if she's my assignment I can protect her, for now...

Harper was actually thinking what 'Griffin' was doing, but little did she know what he was doing.

Her mother had been trying to convince her father to tell Harper who their family was and the dangers of the world. "Please, Tobias, what if the Pythons has already contacted her and she has no idea, what if it was their chief here, the one who is about to take the position of King. what if he's already gotten her, huh? And she has no idea who she's really talking to." And that got him thinking that he should tell her but how...

Five days later~

Harper was leaving her apartment to get take out which was one street away. But when she left there was construction. Harper had to go down a dangerous alley. She reconsidered but she decided to go anyways since she already got a notification it was ready. The alley was also a faster way there.

She got the food but when she headed back, as suspected, two thugs jumped out. They tried to grab her purse of course she tried to resist. They left with her purse and take out, and she got a pretty bad deep cut from them. She wanted to call an ambulance or go to the hospital but she knew that she couldn't pay for that.

She didn't want to burden 'Griffin' but she texted him. "Hey, Griffin do you know how to sow up deep cuts?" She didn't want to plain out ask to sow her up, it could've been her cat that got a deep cut. He responded pretty quickly, "Yeah, I took a semester of med school, why?"

"Thugs, they cut me pretty deep, below my rib cage. And I don't have the money to pay for medical bills. And I sure as hell that I don't want to ask my father to pay. So would you please come over, and stitch me up?" She asked. The mention of her father made him shiver, but he ask her what her address was and came right over.

"Why did you go down that alley anyways?" He asked while stitching her up.

"There was construction and I was getting food." She struggled to say over the pain.

"Done." He finally says.

"Thank you."

"No problem. You should change the bandage everyday though and maybe take a few days off from work. And take it easy"

"Mhmm. My boss sure will love that." Harper said and tried to smile over the pain.

"Well then just call in sick."

"Yep. Could you maybe help me to my room?"

"Yeah.." Logan said while picking her up from the couch. And the feeling of holding her made him feel love for her. He laid her down on her bed, and said good night, then left.

Harper laid on her bed in pain but was happy she wasn't in a hospital bed, she hated them. And hated that not getting health insurance sure can suck sometimes.

Logan was at his house fuming with anger. Who attacked her? It better not have been his guys, or so help him he would rip them limb from limb.

~

Harper was at home lying on her couch trying to make sense of statistics. Her head was fuzzy and she really needed some water but she couldn't get up very easily or she would tear the bandages.

Logan was at a meeting with his most trusted gang members talking about Harper's incident when he received a text from Harper.

"I told all of the Pythons to not interfere with my project!!" He said angrily.

"Boss, we-"

Then he looked at his phone and said, "I've gotta go. We will talk about this soon!" Then he stood up and left.

"Are you alright, Harper?" Logan said while bursting through her front door.

Harper got nervous every time 'Griffin' walked into the room. She didn't really understand why, considering she has known him for a few weeks now. But she was nervous now.

"I'm not hurt or anything, but I can't get up." Harper explained.

Just then Griffin appeared in the doorway and Harper's heart skipped a beat. His brown fluffy hair fell in his face and he flipped it out. His tattoo slithered up his arm in a lifelike manner, his warm brown eyes search your soul, and his tall, lean, strong body moves in a manner all its own.

"Are you thirsty or hungry?" 'Griffin' asked.

"Both." Harper answered.

While he got her some water and a snack, she asked him, "Hey, Griffin, what's your job?"

"Um, I work at a company where I develop ideas for games of all sorts." He answered.

It wasn't exactly true, but he couldn't just say he's the chief of one of the worst gangs here.

He handed her a glass of water and a bag of chips. "Thanks."

"I have to get back to work but I'll check on you later." 'Griffin' said. And left.

"Now, which two idiots did this!!" Logan said while showing them a photo of her wound.

"None of us Chief. When you left we tried to see who did it. It must've been just some random thugs." One brave person said.

"Well then, find them and torture them! And leave the rest to me." Logan yelled very angrily.

Hey, sorry if there’s any spelling mistakes it wasn’t edited very well….
