1 The Demon On The Lake

It was midnight the moon was shining so bright it covered all the stars. A woman was running covered in bruises and was bleeding from the countless cuts on her body. The pain she felt was so bad that she wanted to lie down and die. It was not from the pain of her injuries but from the pain of her heart. She stopped and turned around. After she had determined that no one was following her she sat beneath a cherry tree and closed her eyes.

The only thing she saw were their faces. The faces of the people who had truly loved her and died for her. Then she saw the face of the man she loved and ended up being betrayed by. The pain in her hurt grew bigger.

She never thought that her life would end like this. she had been the main daughter of a wealthy and important house. Her life was what many would call perfect, no one had expected it to turn in to a living hell. It started with her meeting and falling in love with him. She married him and helped him ascend the throne. Not only did he lock her up but he also murdered her whole family. she had managed to escape run from the prison and saw people burning their bodies and heard him say that it was all planned and that he had finally got revenge against her family.

"Feng Mian"

At the thought of his name the pain in her heart spread out and she felt it enveloping her body.

That's when she heard a voice calling her. It sounded sad yet soothing. It relieved the pain in her heart. When she reached the voice she saw that there was a little river. But what took her breath away was the demon hovering on top. Its beauty was breathtaking.

She heard the voice again and realized that the voice belonged to the demon.

"Do you want to go back? If you want I can send you back"

her whole body froze. It took a while for her to process what the demon had said. She felt a lump rise through in her throat. she could barely manage to speak.

"what?"

"If you want, I can send you back to before things turned bad"

her face changed from one filled with sorrow to one with disbelief.

"hahaha, I always love the look of disbelief they have it cracks me up every time. Little girl don't worry this brother is not lying I will really send you back"

As his laughter and his words rang in her ears a surge of hope flowed through her but that didn't stop her skeptical side from rising.

"how can I trust you? what would you benefit from this?" her words were filled with distrust.

" you don't have to trust me and I don't have to benefit from this. I'm just bored and I pity you a lot so it brought me to this conclusion. And since I'm just adding memories to a younger version of you it's not going to harm me in any way"

It sounded too good to be real. her eyes were almost about to pop out of her sockets.

"I want"

She said it like she was in a hurry. The demon laughed at her hastiness and compared her to hungry pup eating a chicken leg as if its dinner will run away.

"say it more formally, treat it like its a contract."

the woman sighed and looked at the demon directly in the eyes. Her face showed no fear but determination and expectancy. The demon shivered at the sight of her eyes that looked like a burning hell. A smile curved on her lips and she looked like Yama himself. Her voice was as clear as water.

"I, Jiang Ying Yue, daughter of the great general Jiang accept the opportunity you have given me and vow to send those who had harmed me and those dear to me."
