The Burning Room Pt. 2

After her brothers were far far away Ying Yue called one of her maids over.

"Xiao Lan, I want you to make tea that has sedative herbs and give it to mother"

At what her miss had just said Xiao Lan gave a perplexed look. Ying Yue saw her face and told her an excuse.

"Mother hasn't been sleeping lately because of me and she won't listen if we tell her to sleep, so this is the only way"

Xiao Lan was so touched at the love and compassion her young miss had that rushed off to complete the task with the resolve to make the best tea in the world. When Ying Yue saw her she could not help but chuckle.

'Okay, now that mother is taken care of I only have to find good hiding spot'

She told her maids to dress her up asked for a mirror. Slender eyebrows. Large, bright, and enticing eyes. A slight smile, revealing two tiny dimples on each cheek. It was exactly the same face she had in her past life, it was a young but gorgeous face. Ying Yue was wearing a set of pale blue robes, and her hairstyle was simple: two buns with a jade hairpin inserted in each. She looked mature yet had a tinge of pureness to her.

"Thank you"

she slowly muttered her gratitude. Her maids were shocked and didn't know how to react. Although Ying Yue was spoiled she had treated her servants well but only to the point where they seemed human and not slaves. So none of the servants where used to here praise. Ying Yue didn't pay them any attention as she herself didn't know why she had thanked them. Maybe it was because of their fierce loyalty in her past life. She pushed those thoughts to the back of her head and walked outside to her yard and looked around. It was a beautiful and serene image with peonies and roses growing around it. This beauty would soon disappear and became a flaming hell. Ying Yue sighed, her whole courtyard would soon became a living hell suitable for Yama himself. She treaded forward and had the expression of a general heading to a war that they knew was a sure victory. When she reached the gate she broke out a smile and her dimples were so deep anybody can tell she was truly happy and the reason was the fact was that she won't have to see her world distort and turn to hell again and that she will once again be a able to live in the heaven of her family.

Ying Yue stood for a while she thought about where to hide and looked around until she saw a tree that had a good sight of her courtyard. She dismissed all her servants through much difficulty and before climbing the tree she remembered that it would get cold and ran back in to get a bright red quilt and started climbing the tree and found a good spot to sit and waited until dark.

A small shadow appeared carrying a lantern. The shadow sneaked inside and came out running after a bit. Slowly by slowly the courtyard started to glow a bright red and orange. Ying Yue sat still as she saw the scene. Forcing herself to watch to burn the scene to her memory and promising herself to never forget. It wasn't until the whole courtyard was on fire that she moved. Her hands moved up and wiped tears that had fallen. During this time she thought only three words.

'I am free'

She was relieved and happy, she taken a step away from her future and although it might not change much it gave her hope and she learned one thing and that is the fact that she can change and choose her future. Ying Yue sorted out her plans and decided on two things. The first one is that she will repay Feng Mian for the pain he had given her and will show him what pain really was. Although she said that she will avenge herself she would only due so to Feng Mian and she won't go after anyone else she didn't want to waste away her life stuck on revenge and who harmed her, because in reality she just wants to live the life of happiness that she couldn't have in her past life. The second thing she decided was that she would marry a kind man that was not that ambitious and centered on politics. She wanted a man happy with his life and that would treat her well no matter how much he loved a concubine of his. Satisfied with her plans she climbed down the tree and started smearing mud all over her and ran to her parents courtyard. Her mother and father loved each other and even shared a courtyard which was quite unusual but showed their love, when other people heard of that they called her father a henpecked husband.

When she had reached the courtyard she started banging on the gate until an old momo came out.

"What is it young Miss? Why do you look like that? Are you okay?"

"Wang momo please help! My courtyard is on fire wake mother and father up quickly"

"What! I'll go wake the master and madam up!"

The old momo ran inside and after five minutes she came back with a group of people. A woman ran out and hugged Ying Yue suddenly and started sobbing.

"My baby! Are you alright? Thank god I didn't lose you!"

Ying Yue was surprised for a second and didn't know how to react. After she recovered she started crying. She had lost this warmth and now she was finally feeling it again. Soon her cries became loud sobs. She started crying all of her pain out. She started feeling tired from crying and fell asleep. When she woke up it was already afternoon and her whole family was surrounding her. When she saw that scene her heart warmed and she smiled and her dimples where very deep. When her family saw that they knew that she was genuinely smiling and smiled with her.
