The Burning Room Pt. 1

The pain in her chest was unbearable to the point like it felt as if someone had started stabbing her with a dull knife over and over again. It wasn't until she had started hearing people's voices that the pain had lessened and it had completely disappeared by the time she had opened her eyes. The setting sun that was peeping through the curtains was directly in her eyes. As she rose from her position she saw that she was laying in her old bed and that she was in her old room, nothing was different from her memories from how pink the curtains were to how thick the blanket was. Ying Yue didn't know whether to cry or laugh. In her past life, this room was where she would secretly read novels at night and where she would hide sweets and little snacks, it was a room where her childhood started, it gave her a sense of security, but it was also where her childhood had ended. The year she had turned thirteen someone had set her room on fire. Her body was fine and she wasn't injured but she had seen things that she would never forget. The day before her room was lit she had caught a cold and her mother had stayed with her to make sure she was fine. Her mother was too doting on her to the point where she would run around the world trying to find the best pain reliever if she said her head hurts. But in the end, her doting on Ying Yue had caused her to burn to death, Ying Yue had lived her past life waking up in the middle of the night because of the nightmares she had about her mother pushing her out of the room only to get caught under a falling pillar as they had reached the door. After that incident, Ying Yue had isolated herself from the world trying to live in the memories of her mother until she thought that she had met someone who she thought truly loved her and she ended up giving him her heart only to have it crushed and stepped on. Her mother had doted on her more than her other siblings as she was the only daughter she had. Even her father had doted on her a lot and with those two parents she had, she was named the most spoiled child in the capital and she herself acknowledges as they truly had shielded her from the darkness of the world only to have it slap her in the face. It wasn't only her that was hit hard with the death of her mother. Ying Yue's father had completely sunk into depression after her mother's death. He had loved her mother more than himself. They were childhood friends and were together from before they can remember and so after losing her, did he truly know how it felt to be alone. On the day they married there were people all around that sang about their love. Her mother was Liu Ru Shi, the daughter of Liu Zhang Wei who was the teacher of the emperor and was teaching all the princes and her father was Jiang Qing Shan the great general who brought victory and peace to the country at the age of eighteen. Even from their names and social standing people knew they were fated to be together but lost each other early on.

It was not until someone had flicked her forehead that she had awoken from her thoughts. She looked at the person responsible and saw that it was her third older brother Jiang Li Jie who was older than her by a year. He looked younger and less mature than in her past life and he was grinning stupidly like he was proud of what he had done. In her past life, he had to mature early on after her mother died so that he could protect her and so he hardly smiled at all.

Ying Yue started pasting the information that she had together to determine to what time she had come back to and came to the conclusion that she was probably twelve to thirteen years old.

'This is just perfect. I can save mother before its too late.'

the thought that she won't lose her mother again brought happiness to her heart and she cracked a small smile.

Her brother at the side who was watching grew worried as she returned to being in a daze. He had flicked her head to wake her up from her daze only to have her return to being in a daze, which only made him more worried.

'What's wrong with her? I know that she wasn't feeling well but usually she would shout at me whenever I flick her head.'

"Ahem"

This time it was someone else's turn to wake her up from her daze. It was her second elder brother Jiang Li Jun. The sight of him shook her out of her daze completely.

'Shouldn't he be training with the soldiers right now?'

Her second elder brother had already started leading troops at the age of fifteen and was said to be a bigger genius than her father.

"Second older brother you should be at work right now, so why are you here?"

"Because I heard you were sick so I came here running to be by your side"

Ying Yue went silent. How could she forget that her brothers also doted on her!

"Hmph, so what if you ditched work to stay with her, I was here from the morning till now!"

"Ha! it's not that it's just that some of us don't have any work to do and just laze around all day"

"At least I have brains and not just muscles"

"You bastard, is that how you treat your elder brother?"

"You're only older by a year"

"Does that not make me your elder? are you an idiot? I thought you had brains?"

As it was unfolding in front of her the only thing Ying Yue thought was, why did I not notice that my elder brothers were so cute! at that thought, she burst into laughter which made her two brothers smile at her gently. It was not until she remembered her brother's words did she stop.

'He was here from the morning till the afternoon. Just how long did I sleep?'

"Brother, how long was I unconscious?"

Her brother slightly frowned and quietly said "two days"

At those words, her face froze. In her past life, she had managed to get sick enough to fall unconscious and so her mom had stayed with her in order to make sure that she was fine even after she awoke. The timing was almost identical, it was exactly the same as her past life. Today was the day that her room was set on fire.

"Where is mother?"

'That's right no need to panic, all I need to do is make sure mother is fine. It doesn't matter if its sooner than what I expected"

She calmed herself down and listened to her brother's answer.

"She went to get some sleep since she was here with you the whole time and only left after we kicked her out"

"En"

The only thing she could do is nod her head as she was thinking of a plan to stop her mom from staying with her. When she found a plan her eyes shined with determination and she quickly got up from her bed and kicked her brothers out of her room.

Sorry for the late update. I mean exams don't we all love'em.
