5 Chapter 5

When Auron woke up in the morning he decided to visit the library later. The reason for his visit is simple, he doesn't know practically anything about the world he lives in.

Back in the village none of the residents knew anything useful. Besides his parents, all they knew was how high the taxes are and to whom to pay. Only his father and mother knew more. He knows that they most probably were not farmers at all and asked them a few times trying to know about his family, but unfortunately they did not tell anything about that. They only gave him common knowledge about cultivation and cities nearby the village.

In the sect restaurant he met Edward, they chatted for a while and after some time they parted ways. Edward went to meet with his sister in the inner disciple's dormitory, while Auron went to the library to get some information about the sect and surroundings.

Normally outer sect disciples are forbidden to enter facilities that are meant for inner disciples. But as a younger brother of one of the highest-rated inner disciples, he was given a special permit that allows him to enter.

Auron went to the library. The layout of the whole building is the same as yesterday but this time there are fewer disciples inside reading and browsing through the books.

Behind a counter nearby entrance sat an old man. He had a white long beard and his face was full of wrinkles. His robes signified that he was an inner sect disciple.

Auron went to him and greeted him.

"Hello. My name is Auron and I wanted to ask about the rules of the facility."

The old man glanced at him then smiled and said.

"Welcome young one. I'm Marcus. There are only a few. First, you have to be quiet in the library to not hinder others' concentration. The second is that you can't take away any book unless you make a copy for yourself here."

Hearing this Auron was curious.

'Are they not afraid that someone will steal their knowledge.'

As if noticing his thoughts Marcus replied.

"The books available here are common knowledge. Anyone with a little bit of money could buy those books practically in every bigger city so it's not really a problem."

Marcus and Auron talked for a little bit more allowing the boy to understand this man's situation.

Apparently, Marcus is an inner disciple with a poor talent. Because of that, he was only able to become an inner disciple. Anything beyond that is almost impossible for him.

Auron then proceeded in his search for knowledge. He knew that with the number of books in this massive library it's impossible to read everything in a single day and he also needs time to cultivate. Due to that, he decided to read books about the sect and general information on the world he lives in.

Normal villagers did not know how to write or read. When arriving most of them get frustrated since the ability to read is basic. You can't understand the cultivation manual if you don't know what is written inside of it. Fortunately for them, the sect organizes lessons on the subject for such a people.

Auron did not need this kind of thing because his father taught him and his sister how to write or read at a young age.

After long hours he lost count on how many books he read through. He learned that the Chaotic Demon Sect was founded for hundred years ago by a powerful cultivator called 'Chaos Demon'. Despite the mainly sounding title, the said founder was a woman. Her current location is unknown and many think that she died, but Auron knows that it's not the case. For someone so strong the only way to die is to be killed by an even more powerful being, but with the power so great it's already hard to find a decent opponent, and even if that was the case the fight on such a level should make countless people interested in the event. Death by old age is also out of the question. From what he read this woman should be around five hundred years old and with her cultivation she probably still has left more than a thousand years to live. He also learned that sect master Zeke is actually a younger brother of the Chaos Demon.

Another thing he learned is that the name of the sect is not without a reason. The sect is considered 'demonic' in nature but at the same time is not clearly evil. They are as the name implies chaotic. They could fight for justice or become the prime example of the demonic cultivators.

Everything depends on their own agenda. This flexibility is what makes them dangerous in the eyes of every other sect. If not for their strength which makes them into one of the most powerful sects in the kingdom they would be eliminated by others long ago.

Every kingdom has sects or organizations similar in nature. They act neutral towards the kingdom. The reason behind it is that the kingdoms are strong, harmless, and do not try to control those sects.

The sects can do whatever they want as long as they don't invade kingdoms' territories or harm their civilians. When the kingdom is attacked they will ask sects to join in and help them in exchange for resources or other benefits. Basically, sects are acting as vassals with a high degree of autonomy.

There are four continents in this world. The one Auron is currently on is called simply the eastern continent. It houses three kingdoms with various sects whose exact number is currently unknown.

He was interested when he read about the other continent closest to the current one and at the same time is almost two times greater houses two empires. One righteous and other demonic, needless to say, that those two empires are constantly at war with each other. What made his pique his interest was that this continent called the Magic continent is full of knights and mages. They are different from cultivators. Mages and knights both cultivate energy in different ways than cultivators. While the cultivator takes energy from the surroundings into the place nearby their heart and store it for later use, the knight uses the said energy to strengthen their bodies without storing this energy at all and the mage uses it to increase his energy capacity inside their mind.

The other difference is that knights cannot use techniques at all since all of them use energy that they have no access to. Instead of that, they developed weapon masteries that allow them to use their weapons more efficiently. The mages can use techniques but they call them spells and in order to use them they have to chant.

The differences made Auron curious and he was glad that he finally was able to discover who were the people that attacked his home. At the same time, he was also thinking about the reason why such a group of people came from so far to his village. He doesn't know the answer to this question but he is sure that it has something to do with his parents and their secrets.

He also learned more about cultivation realms and elements.

Right now Auron is at Qi gathering realm(I) 1st stage. This realm is not giving him any more important benefits. He can't use any fighting techniques, the same for cultivating his elemental specialization and he does not gain any increase in lifespan.

The next realms are different. Foundation(II) realm allows him to cultivate his elemental powers and utilize them in combat, it also gives him additional hundred years of life. Core shaping(III) is the realm in which a cultivator creates his golden core. It's one of the most important realms because the higher the quality of the core the easier and faster the cultivation in the future. There were countless promising cultivators who were not able to cultivate further because of their hasty-created core.

The last cultivation stage he was able to find was the Core empowering(IV) realm. Not much was written about it. Auron learned only that after reaching this realm one was eligible to be promoted to true disciple.

Outer disciple, Inner disciple, and True disciple. Those three are ranks of the disciples in the chaotic demon sect. After reaching Foundation(II) realm one was able to be promoted to become an inner disciple and after Core empowering(IV) realm into a true disciple. There is not known which realm allows one to become an elder, but this classification made Auron wonder how strong Lewis is. Lewis as a great elder should be obviously way stronger than other elders. This thought made him curious about what realm has he reached and how old he is.

As for elements, he learned that there are basic, advanced, and superior elemental aptitudes. Basic is basically simples and easies to understand while superior are the hardest are people who have the affinity higher than basic is considered both lucky and unlucky at the same time. The reason is that all of the superior and most of the advanced aptitudes has not been studied among the cultivators. In other words, there are no available manuals to cultivate with. It's possible to have the greatest element but being impossible to cultivate in it because of the lack of manuals.
