137 Waking Up One by One

Aida heard Xiao Ai's comments and laughed, she wasn't aware of exactly what Xiao Ai did, but it must have been pretty awful for her to be so proud. Aida didn't follow up to ask what Xiao Ai had done, but simply shook her head and looked outside. There were no humans or Variants around and the Enraged and Reapers wouldn't bother to attack an RV unless they knew there were humans inside. It was oddly comforting to hear the silence after a long day of fighting.

After successfully messing with the cameras, Xiao Ai then set off to work on the more serious issues. In order to compensate for not being able to help out in battle, she was extra focused as she began to hack the radio and laptops of the humans who had ambushed them. Her job was to find out all the information she possibly could on who their pursuers were, what information they had and what their attack plan was.

As she worked, she muttered under her breath, "Hmph hmph! You baddies, those cameras were just the first step. Xiao Ai is going to get revenge for her brothers and sisters!!"

Aida sat there silently as she absorbed more gems and meditated. She would be alerted by Xiao Ai or the computer if anything came up. She wanted to recover her energy as soon as possible in case any kind of situation popped up.

The next few days passed relatively quietly. Every morning, Aida would inspect the conditions of each of her teammates before forcing some food into the human captive's mouth and then knocking him out again. Then she and Xiao Ai would continue to drive another couple hundred miles before finding a place to stop again. In the evening, she would continue to meditate without sleeping to monitor the surroundings and her companions.

Xiao Ai continued to furiously battle and hack into the enemy's system while each of the members slowly woke up one by one. Rin was the first to wake up with a splitting headache. He held his head miserably and said, "This feels just like a hangover."

Aida suppressed a smile as she tapped his head and asked, "And when did you have alcohol?"

"Oh! Uhhh big sis, please don't tell my brother that. He might feed me to the sharks," Rin muttered sheepishly. His aunts had once tricked him and his brother into drinking alcohol, neither of them realized what it was till the next day.

Aida was delighted to have their living ball of energy back up and running. The entire RV felt significantly livelier with his presence. She fed him some canned chicken soup that she prepared by microwaving. He obediently drank the soup without complaint.

Next to wake up was Little White who suddenly appeared besides Aida one morning while she was attempting to make breakfast. Rin was watching Aida with mounting horror as she began by placing an uncooked egg into the microwave. Luckily, Little White's appearance distracted her from hitting the start button, saving the RV from a horrible death. Rin quietly snuck towards the microwave after she left the kitchen and removed the egg. He then took all the eggs from the kitchen and hid them into a cabinet upstairs so they would be inaccessible to Aida.

Aida brought Little White to the tatami and sat him down. She carefully spoke to Little White in slow and measured tones, asking him numerous questions. After a full hour long interrogation, she was satisfied and confirmed that there was no damage to his mind. She gave him a big hug and also handed him a large bag of gems to consume. She was relieved to see that Lucifer's sacrifice wasn't in vain.

Following that, Ace woke up. Ace's first action when he woke up was to hug Aida's legs in happiness. He almost tripped down the stairs due to not having had food or water in days. Aida had to carry him princess-style down to the first floor. Because he wasn't able to absorb energy from gems, she had to cook a meal for him to regain energy. Rin watched on the side with spooked eyes. Fortunately, she didn't try anything fancy and simply boiled some chicken soup for Ace. Ace drank it with relish.

Yukio was next to wake up. Instead of getting out of bed immediately, he instead grabbed some of the gems that Aida left for him on the table and absorbed them. He had checked the conditions of everyone around him prior to falling into his deep sleep, so his reaction was more measured than the others.

He then went downstairs and made his rounds. His greeting towards everyone was to inspect their body's conditions carefully. He was very serious about taking on the role of doctor. Rin had to drag and force his brother to sit down and eat in exchange for allowing Yukio to heal Light.

Yukio painstakingly swallowed the food placed before him, making him realize that none of them had been eating well for the past few days. He volunteered himself for the position and Aida was so happy she almost cried.

A week later, Rose and Lucifer woke up at the same time. Both of them had greatly over extended themselves in the previous battle but also reaped great bounties from the experience. Both were on the verge of levelling up so Aida provided them with an abundance of gems. These gems came from the Variants that had ambushed them as well as the Reapers that she had killed in passing over the past couple weeks. Using that, they were both able to upgrade to level 2. Aida then quickly ushered the two of them to shower and get rid of the putrid smell.

Rose, similar to Xiao Ai and Little White's reactions, refused to let Aida out of her sight since she woke up. Aida patiently helped her bathe and gave her a beautiful light pink lolita dress to wear. She had found it at one of the stores in the previous cities. She intended to surprise Rose with it earlier, but too many unexpected events occurred in between.

Rose's eyes shined brightly when she saw the dress as she gently touched the dress as if afraid to break it. Seeing this, Aida knew she selected the right one. She then helped Rose into the dress and braided her hair into two neat pigtails tails. Rose looked absolutely adorable. Aida also made a mental note to find more dresses like this for Rose to wear in the future. She deserved to have a full closet full of these clothes. It was so much fun playing dress up.

Rose also seemed to have a wider range of expressions on her face now. She also took the initiative to help clean up and take care of miscellaneous tasks. Rose was slowly growing acclimated to day to day life in the RV and getting more comfortable with everyone else. It was extremely gratifying for Aida to see.
