40 Spiderwoman

A second later, Ace's face turned back to normal and he was his usual frantic self, "Oh no!! What should we do?!"

Seeing Ace go back to normal, Light secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He did not understand why, but that split second when Ace looked up, he felt scared.

Light efficiently explained to Ace the situation with his trademark calm. Despite the fact that both his brothers had been captured, his senses told him that they were still safe for the time being. He knew that remaining level headed would be crucial to getting them out of this situation.

Together, the two of them brought guns and cautiously walked towards the other side of the store. They had their backs to each other to ensure that the spider would not be able to catch them off guard in the same way.

With guns in hands, they walked through the remaining aisles and counter. They saw nothing to indicate where the twins and spider had gone. After walking multiple rounds to no avail, Ace got frustrated and leaned his hand with the gun on the wall, saying, "Let's think about this. You saw him take the twins and none of the exits have been touched so the creature is clearly still in the store. Where could it have gone?"

Staring at each other, they respond at the same time, "Above!"

A web suddenly shot towards Light and stole his gun away by surprise!

Ace watched stupefied. There was a spider creature with a human face on the ceiling smiling at him. He hadn't gotten a close look at the first spider creature when he first came in because he was so focused on helping Aida and Xiao Ai.

'What was this creature even? A literal and ugly rendition of Spiderman??' thought Ace curiously. As a natural scientist, he was curious. Eventually he settled on the name, he called out, "Spiderwoman!"

Light shouted to Ace as he did a front roll to dodge the next string of web from the spider creature, "Don't just stare at it! Shoot it!!" Who has time to name a creature in the middle of a fight?!

Ace tried to pull his hand away from the wall to shoot at the spider, but realized his hand was stuck. He leaned his entire body weight away from the wall in an attempt to rip his hand and the gun from the wall but all he felt was pain. Somehow, this spider's web had incredibly adhesion properties.

"I'm stuck!!" Ace called out.

Light looked up to check on Ace but as a result missed dodging one of the webs being shot at him. The web hit his legs and he fell, knocking down the shelf next to him.

Luckily, the shelf fell the other direction so he was not directly crushed by the shelf. Reaching for the nearest item, Light began throwing chip bags in the direction of the spiderwoman. If they were not in such a dire situation, they probably would have laughed at the situation. Years later, someone will come into this very store and look through the video feed and see a man laying on the floor while throwing potato chip bags at a very large spider.

Despite Light's desperate attempts to create space between himself and the spiderwoman, he was unsuccessful due to his legs being bound. He tried to worm his way towards Ace but the spiderwoman quickly caught up to him and shot more webs at him until he too looked like a mummy. Light flopped around on the ground like a worm, unable to free himself from the restraints.

Turning to Ace, the spiderwoman slowly creeped towards him. She was taking her time, as though savoring the fear.

Ace kept tugging his hand, trying to move to move away. He forgot that he had a gun in that hand and accidentally pulled the trigger, startling both Ace and the spiderwoman.

They both froze in surprise for a second. The spiderwoman then shot another web to secure his hand, closed in on him and bundled him up as well. Light and Ace both lost consciousness due to lack of oxygen shortly after. In one go, the entire team had been knocked unconscious one way or another.

The spiderwoman then proceeded to drag them to her lair.

Meanwhile, Aida's eyes snapped open. She felt as though she had been away for a long time.

After getting hit by the anesthesia, the "system" pulled her into a cozy room that looked like a home library. The room was full of books on expensive mahogany wood shelves. She was standing at the center in front of a classy table with two comfortable leather chairs. The room was well lit and had a wonderful ambiance, but it was oddly devoid of people.

Before Aida could begin exploring the area, a command line terminal floated before her and began typing [...]
