55 Separated

Inwardly sighing, she reminded Rin to take deep breaths and then streamlined her movements to try to reach Ace.

From Light's perspective, it almost looked as though Aida was able to swim in the sky. She seems to be able to travel wherever she wants.

Aida quickly reached Ace, grabbed ahold of his harness and deployed her parachute for him while also clipping a rope onto him. After successfully deploying his parachute, she kicked herself away from him and proceeded to deploy her own parachute.

Rin who was strapped to Aida watched on in excitement. He felt as though he were in an action movie. Despite his excitement, he was very aware of his actions and made sure to not move or inhibit any of Aida's actions by looking around or flailing.

Aida then deployed her own parachute and they slowed their descent as well. They were actually cutting it very close to the height limit for the parachute due to Ace unexpectedly falling unconscious. Thankfully they were able to make it in time.

If the parachute was not deployed in time, they would run the risk of hitting the ground at too high a speed and incurring injuries. Not that it would have killed any of them, but it would certainly be painful and have incapacitated them for a while.

A sudden current of wind passed by and unexpectedly tugged the group away from each other. Luckily, Aida thought to tie Ace to herself so they wouldn't separate but Light and Yukio were floating towards the center of the city instead.

Raising her hand, she gestured to Light and shouted, "We'll meet at the house!" Light gave an "okay" sign and they split ways.

"Yayy! That was so much fun! Let's do it again," exclaimed Rin with extremely high energy.

After they separated from Light and Yukio, Ace, Aida and Rin landed on the beach near the city. Aida had been prepared to console Rin about the separation, but Rin was not bothered by it at all. It appears he was extremely confident in his brothers' abilities to survive.

Patting Rin's head, Aida's first action after landing was to quickly remove the harness and parachutes from both themselves and Ace. The day was fairly windy which is why they were pulled to the beach. If they kept the parachutes on, there was a chance they could be pulled into the ocean as well.

Rin went to play along the water as Aida began studying their location. They were roughly 10 kilometers away from the way the house they agreed to meet at. If they took the direct route by foot and uninterrupted, it would probably take roughly 2 hours.

However, given that she had an unconscious deadweight to carry around and an over-energetic kid, she probably needed a vehicle and some way to circumvent as much trouble as possible. With her scan, they should be able to get to the house without too much struggle.

Thinking this, she called Rin back over. Taking out a small jar, she wrapped a chain around it and put it around Rin's neck saying, "I'm giving you this gem as a lucky charm. You are not allowed to take it out of the jar or to eat it unless there is absolutely no hope for survival. If you eat it, you could end up getting hurt or dying so make sure you take care of it carefully."

Originally, Aida had no intention to give a child something so dangerous especially because she was fairly confident she could keep him safe. However, after seeing his performance in the past couple days, she knew that despite his cheerful personality, he was extremely level headed and was able to make better judgement calls than many adults. With this in mind, she decided to provide him with this extra layer of safety in case anything unexpected happened. They were in an apocalypse after all and many things were still unknown to them.

After making sure Rin understood the weight of her words, she allowed him to continue to play in the water while watching Ace as she went to acquire (steal) a vehicle. The options were extremely limited and eventually Aida settled on driving a medium sized golf cart.

Being easy to disembark in an emergency and small enough to easily circumvent the debris, the golf cart was perfect. Rin hopped into the passenger seat while Aida dragged Ace into the back, securing him with a seatbelt to ensure he didn't fall off.

They steadily made their way through the city using her scan. They were able to navigate through the city fairly easily as Aida purposely avoided all the Reapers. Any Enraged that came near the golf cart were immediately shot and disabled. Rin's aim wasn't as good as Yukio's sharpshooting, but he was generally able to disable, if not kill, each of the Enraged that approached in one hit.

Aida was not too concerned about conserving ammunition since she could just go through the police department or break into a base and acquire more if necessary. Besides, both Rin and herself were extremely adept at hand to hand combat and did not need to rely on bullets to fight. Aida suspected that given the growth rate of the Reapers, soon bullets would no longer be useful in humanity's fight against them. People would be forced to start learning how to fight by hand or build even stronger weapons.

Ace wakes up and screamed, "Arghhh!! Master please don't push me off the plane!!"

"..." Aida was speechless. Even in his nightmares, he still called her Master. Just what was wrong with this man's brain?!

Smacking his head, she glared at this deadweight. His scream had attracted a number of Enraged and Reapers.
