69 Randy Returns to Base

In a separate building, Aida was facing Peter right now. He had a condescending smirk on his face and he stared at Aida the way a predator would stare at their prey. He licked his lips and he began to imagine what he would do to her.

Aida watched Peter's changing expressions coldly and with disgust as she quickly calculated the odds for her escape. She had no intention to die here. Xiao Ai was still waiting for her.

Counting the number of knives she had on herself, there was a chance she could escape. The Variants may have superpowers, but they were not well trained and even forgot to frisk her before leaving her alone with Peter.

She continued to sit there calmly as she waited for the right moment.

Rin reappeared in the room that was their jail cell at this moment with a giant smile on his face as he dropped all the weapons onto the bed. Jumping up and down, he was extremely thrilled to have this new ability.

Each of them took a set of weapons as they prepared to break out. They didn't have a scan like Aida did, but thankfully they had Ace's eyes through the camera. He would be able to warn them before any Variant managed to sneak up on them. The tricky part was that they didn't know the Variants skills, so it would still be risky.

Having regained his calm, Light was no longer set on destroying everyone around him. He understood that the Variants guarding them and many others within the base had different circumstances and demons of their own that they were facing. They too had suffered a great deal and were recovering from numerous mental scars from having lost or even killed their own loved ones. Him and his brothers were extremely fortunate to not be caught up in the same situation. Somehow, he was able to tangibly feel the desolation and sorrow from the people around him.

Instructing everyone to only use their guns as a last resort, their goal was to stun and knock the Variants unconscious if possible. They had Ace in the middle as the eyes of the group while the others covered him.

Light signalled with his fingers as he counted down from 3 and kicked the door down. Yukio, who was the best shooter dashed out, while the rest laid low and hid behind the wall to avoid any stray shots.

Yukio accurately shot each of the Variants guarding their door with the two stun guns in his hand. Rin, who was in the shadows, acted as support and prepared to pull Yukio into the shadows as soon as he noticed anything. He was bitterly protesting on the inside for having to play a support role during the first real fight since he acquired his powers. However, he choked back the complaints as he thought of his big sis who had been kidnapped. In addition to providing protection to his little brother, he was also in charge of taking care of the sleeping Xiao Ai.

Using this method, they smoothly moved their way through the building.

At this moment, there was also a big commotion being made at the entrance of the base. A ragged figure had stormed into the base with his jeep. When he saw the guards blocking the entrance, he stepped even harder on the gas pedal. In order to save themselves, the Variants jumped out of the way at the last minute.

After passing these guards, the jeep continued to press forward as it headed to Mr. Nunn's place. Mr. Nunn was another leader of the base who had yet to make an appearance, he was a formerly rich businessman that now managed most of the logistics within the base.

Hopping off the jeep was a very familiar looking man. "MR. NUNN COME OUT NOW OR I WILL DECIMATE THIS BUILDING." The sound reverberated against the concrete buildings, echoing across the entire base.

Many Variants had followed the charging jeep to Mr. Nunn's building, and many more were drawn by this man's shout. They watched on from a distance with interest.

Hearing the shout, a skinny, balding man in a suit sighed and calmly placed the tea he had been drinking onto the table with a clank. Getting up, he smoothed his suit and brushed his limited hair into place and slowly walked towards the entrance.

"To what do I owe this honor, Lucifer?" asked Mr. Nunn in a dignified voice.

It turns out the man who charged in with a jeep and appeared ragged was none other than the base leader, Lucifer. He appeared so disheveled that none of the other Variants were able to recognize him.

Lucifer charged towards Mr. Nunn the moment he saw him and wrapped his hands around Mr. Nunn's neck, eyes blazing with anger.

Unphased, Mr. Nunn responded to Lucifer's actions by patting his shoulders, "Now, now, Lucifer, this is not the way to communicate with a friend. Why don't we head into the building and chat over some tea."

"Screw your tea and your stupid business formalities. You set me up, and I will make you pay for it."

"Lucifer, if you continue to act this way, I will also be forced to act as well. You wouldn't want that would you?" Mr. Nunn said casually as he made a pointed look towards the crowd. None of them had noticed, but there was a looming haze of purple that appeared over their heads, slowly descending towards them.

Seeing this, Lucifer's eyes narrowed and he brusquely let go of Mr. Nunn's neck.

He then walked into the building without invitation and sat down heavily. Mr. Nunn rubbed his neck as he smiled wryly and followed Lucifer into the building.
