20 Light's Story

Actually, she only had about 90% confidence that she could help them. She honestly just wanted two guinea pigs to test her new skills out. If Yukio heard this, he would certainly start bawling again. Thankfully, Aida spared him the statistics.

Biting her finger, she dripped some blood into each of their respective mouths. This was a major part of why she had Yukio move to the side, she didn't know how he would react to her actions.

After dripping the blood, she sat down in a meditative state to guide her blood through their systems and heal the wounds. However something rather unexpected happened after her blood ran through their systems one time.

Aida's consciousness felt a suction and unexpectedly got pulled into the oldest of the trio's mind. She looked around calmly, assessing the situation. This must be part of the new changes that were made to her body after she got infected, instead of just healing the body, her blood wanted to heal this kid's mental wounds as well.

She was currently standing in a grand ballroom with many other people dressed in fancy outfits. Up at the front was a much younger version of the kid. He was standing by the stage with a bright smile on his face chatting with who appeared to be his parents. Listening to the various conversations and gossip around her, she learned that the name of this kid was Light. Light was the young master of a legacy family in Japan who had a long history of Aikido masters. Over time, the family began to expand their enterprises and entered both military and politics. Now, their presence was so large no one within the Japanese government could possibly ignore them.

After watching this happy moment for a while, the scene suddenly switched to a new scene in the hospital. The family of three were together, it was a bittersweet scene. The mother was laying on the hospital bed with a very grey pallid. One could immediately tell that she was hanging onto her life by a thread. The father was standing on the side hugging a pair of newborn twins in his arms.

Light did not look at the twins, as he focused on his dying mother. He secretly loathed the twins for killing his mother whom he loved so much. He had a look of distraught and anger on his face.

She looked at Light with a warm smile, "Don't be angry, don't be sad. This is just a natural part of life. I am very grateful to be able to bring two sweet, adorable sons to this world. Don't blame them, I need you to protect them in my place."

With that, she let go of his hand and the heart monitor went flat. The happy boy that Aida first saw was slowly disappearing. While mourning the loss of his mother, he obediently went to scoop up the two brothers from his father who ran to his mother's side. Light hugged the twins closely to him. From now on, he was in charge of taking care of his brothers. He promised himself then that he would never let anything hurt them. This was his promise to his mother.

Little did he know, this was the beginning of his endless nightmare. The family began to pressure his father to remarry for the sake of increasing the family influence, but his father adamantly refused. As a result, his father was slowly losing power and leverage within the family.

Similarly, Light also received pressure from all those around him. People who he once thought were close relatives and cousins began to ignore him and ostracize him. They would laugh at him for not having a mother. At first, Light would get angry at the incidents. However, over time, he stopped getting mad at them. Instead, he just faced everything that came at him with a calm visage.

Back at home, he would dedicate all his time to caring for the twins. There was a 10 year age gap between him and the twins. Although he faced beatings and endless trouble outside, he made sure to never bring it back home to his brothers. Light made sure they lived happy and fulfilling lives.

'This explains why that kid playing with Xiao Ai is so naive,' thought Aida.

Around 7 years after the twins were born, another pivotal moment happened. Light's abilities shone no matter where he went. He demonstrated his business prowess as he created his own start up and grew it into a couple million dollars within a year at the age of 17.

Right at the height of his success, his father suddenly fell gravely ill, fell down 5 flights of stairs and was paralyzed at the neck down, and fell into a coma with zero brain activity. The doctors told him that even if his father were to wake up, his brain would not be capable of thought. That night, Light snuck into his father's hospital room, injected drugs into his father's nutrition pack, and his father passed away the next day.

Light knew with 100% certainty that his father's sickness and accident were no coincidence. Someone in his family purposely harmed his father as retaliation for his success. This was the brutality of living in a major family. Without the support of his mother or father, he had no ability to retaliate and avenge his father's death.

Since then, Light's eyes no longer shown with any of the original brightness he had when he was younger. Each day, he would still greet his two precious brothers with a bright smile. But the moment he went back to his room, he could only find solace sitting in darkness and allowing the darkness engulf him.
