124 Going Back to School

It would take a while for them to reach the mountains so everyone sat down at the tatami mat to chat. Aida saw all the children sitting there idly passing time. The only thing they really had to preoccupy themselves was to meditate and continue to strengthen themselves, but that wasn't something they were able to do for very long. As they were still on the weak side, their bodies could only absorb a limited amount of energy from the gems at any given time.

She was once again reminded that had it not been for the outbreak, all the kids would have been in school right now. Now that there was some amount of stability within their lives, it was time for them to restart their education.

It can't be denied that a lot of the information that they would learn wasn't entirely relevant to their situation. However, eventually the outbreak would settle down and come to an equilibrium. At that point in time, the demand for knowledge will increase again. She didn't want the children to just be all brawns and no brains.

Turning to Light, she said, "I think it's time for you to restart their education again." She gladly threw this monstrous task of teaching the children and building the curriculum to Light. He had demonstrated his ability to provide a very well rounded education that addresses both the knowledge, moral and ethical perspectives.

There was a wide range of reactions from the children. Little White's reaction was the most bland. He simply continued to stare blankly, he didn't seem to have any opinion and might not even fully understand what was going on.

On the side, the twins collectively groaned. Rin even said, "Big sis, why'd you have to go and say that! No school was the best part about this outbreak!"

"Eh, aside from meeting big sis, little sis and everyone else," Yukio added quietly from the side.

Light had the habit of assigning a lot of homework to the twins. Every time they demonstrated achievement in an area, he would increase the difficulty of the assignment to the next level, making it feel like an endless process.

Aida continued with a slight smile as she pretended not to hear Rin's complaint, "Xiao Ai, Rose and Little White also need to start learning. I don't want you all to grow up to be illiterate! That would just be embarrassing."

Light simply shot a smile full of promise towards Rin, immediately silencing him.

Xiao Ai simply bounced around, excited to experience going to school. Having grown up in the virtual world, she had a vast array of knowledge and knew practically everything, but had always dreamed of going through the experience. She felt that this opportunity was as great as getting to go to an amusement park or any other fun excursion.

Meanwhile, Rose had a melancholy expression on her face. The mention of school brought her back to her time before the outbreak. Her memories regarding school were all bad. She spent most of her days in school being laughed at and bullied by her classmates. They laughed at her for not having a mommy, for never having anyone to pick her up from school when the day ended, and never having any new or pretty clothes to wear.

There was one time where she found a pretty dress on the sidewalk as she was walking home, so she decided to wear it the next day. All the students accused her for having stolen it from someone else and even the teachers looked at her with odd eyes. Then some of the girls who were secretly jealous dragged her to a dark corner during recess and ripped up her dress, leaving her with nothing to wear. When she was found by the teachers, they scolded her for running off and then her father beat her for causing trouble.

Sensing her distraught, Aida picked Rose up and put her on her lap, combing through her soft hair. "Rose, do you want to learn with your brothers and sister?"

Yukio, who had grown incredibly protective of Rose, and Xiao Ai also took her hands and looked at her with pleading eyes. Followed by Rin, who stared at her with pleading eyes, but only because he didn't want to have to suffer alone.

Seeing everyone's eyes on her, Rose huddled closer to Aida, clearly shy from all the attention. As she hid, she quietly nodded her head in agreement. Aida smiled tenderly and then looked towards Light for more direction.

Light stared at Aida, his mind had gone blank after he saw the sweet and tender smile bloom onto Aida's face. She was beautiful on a normal day, but with a smile, she had turned into a goddess level beauty in his eyes.

On the side, Xiao Ai laughed conspiratorially while thinking, 'Hehe if Xiao Ai can get Mama to smile a couple more times, then maybe Xiao Ai will finally have a Papa.'

If Aida were to hear this, she would surely smack Xiao Ai on the head and reconsider her education strategy.

She didn't notice Xiao Ai's reaction but did notice Lights. Aida quickly returned to her normal cold look and said, "Do you have a lesson plan they can start with?"

Light coughed awkwardly before grabbing a spare laptop. He clumsily gripped it and even almost dropped it as he slowly recovered from his flustered state. "Yes, I have it all online."

It'd been months since he last touched a laptop as the past couple months had been filled with action and adventure. There was simply no time or need for him to be on a laptop.

With two computer geniuses in the RV, he was able to connect to the internet with ease. Light had stored all the lesson plans onto his email's cloud for convenience.
