33 Encountering the War Faction Again

He signaled to his men who approached them. Once within arms reach, Light and Aida went into action. Holding off the onslaught, Aida started humming her favorite anime theme song while dodging the attacks and pulling down their pants.

"..." The War faction leader had no response, while Light and Ace pretended not to be affiliated with her yet again.

It seems these people were truly more decent than the other War faction group they had encountered. They had no intention of fatally injuring or using the guns, instead the men were focused on disabling.

For this reason, Aida also withheld herself from making lethal attacks despite the temptation. She compromised and focused her attention on playing around with the men instead. Pulling their pants down was a highly effective way of preventing the men from furthering their movements, while also avoiding imparting any lethal attacks.

In fact, Light and Ace could have easily killed everyone there but Aida felt that it'd be more interesting with them alive. The War faction leader was surprisingly a kind soul who still kept his humanity despite all the chaos around them. She wanted to see how long that would last and whether he would maintain that naive personality the next time she saw him.

While Light and Aida were stalling for time, Ace snuck into the car. Once Ace turned on the car engine, Light and Aida threw off the people from the War faction. Aida even waved and blew a kiss towards the speechless War faction leader.

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. As they were about to depart, a mob of people ran towards the car. It was the Science faction who had been left behind by the helicopter. They were still on the tarmac bemoaning their fates when they noticed the fighting.

Now Aida's group was sandwiched between the War faction and the remaining Science faction.

Some of the Science faction recognized Light and Ace and began shouting, "How could you prevent us from leaving?! You murderers!"

Angry shouts called out from all around. Their despair had transformed into anger and all of it was directed at their car. The War faction just watched on from the side with interest and curiosity.

Aida rolled her eyes as she got out of the car. She had remained extremely low key all her life, but her personality was actually the opposite. She began, "So, I'm responsible? Have I gotten onto that helicopter? The helicopter has already left, so do you expect me to bring it back for you? Rather than wasting time on yelling and screaming at us, why don't you go do something more productive for your survival like finding water and shelter."

The whole group looked down, but there were still many traces of unwillingness in their eyes. "Regardless of whether you got on or not, you kept us from getting onto that helicopter!"

"Yeah!" The crowd shouted. They began to charge forward again, seeming intent to prevent them from leaving.

At this point in time, the War faction realized what was going on. Before now, they had no information about the helicopter's arrival and departure with the scientists. Their leader was intrigued by Aida's group and wondered why they hadn't gotten on the helicopter. Thoughts of acquiring the food and water from them had disappeared as they had seen the group in action. Clearly, it would be better to be allies instead of enemies.

Thinking this, the War faction leader gestured for the group to back off and watch. As the mob walked towards them, Rin and Yukio suddenly woke up. It seems the effect of Aida's blood had finally worn off and they were conscious. Nobody but Aida noticed that the twins had woken up as they were focused on the incoming mob. Aida only noticed because they had a blood tie, so she was able to feel the flurry of emotions coming from them.

She sighed lightly. Originally, her intention was to fight her way through the mob and kill all that got in her way. But now that the twins were awake, she felt more restrained. She had read through Light's memories and understood how precious they were in this tainted world. She hoped to keep them as sheltered and pure as long as possible.

With these thoughts, she launched herself into the crowd and gave Ace the order to stay in the car. She would try to create a clearing for him to drive through the mob. Although she found it troublesome to fight these people instead of kill them, she didn't see them as a particular threat. They were just a group of untrained angry people.

Light also got down and helped Aida with clearing the mob. Collaborating with a tacit understanding that can usually only come from years of working together, they were able to quickly make it through half the mob with ease either knocking out or throwing down every person that came their way.

They looked super cool in the eyes of Ace, Yukio and Rin. Ace was once again acting like a fanboy on the side with his eyes trained on Aida while Rin was shouting out excitedly every time Aida or Light managed to take someone down.

Xiao Ai who was still sitting on the dashboard was also cheering while shouting, "Go Mama!"

Things were going well when suddenly, Aida was stabbed by something sharp in the back of her neck. At first, she wasn't too concerned as her blood made her practically invincible. But soon, she was slowing down dramatically and could feel herself getting drowsier. Then, within a minute, she collapsed on the floor unconscious in the middle of the mob.

The mob immediately circled her like vultures and began attacking her from all angles.
