154 Change of Plans

After 10 minutes of typing, Rose finally came to a halt and showed the text to everyone. Aida and Xiao Ai looked down and read.

[The girl who was massaging the big bad guys leg used to be my classmate, Sarah. She would also laugh and hit me whenever she saw me because I didn't have a mother. Even though I don't like her, I still didn't like seeing her get hit by the bad guy.

The base back there reminds me of a lot of bad memories. I don't like it. Those bad guys are just like the ones that my father sold me off to. When we first got to the base, my father and I were also in the slums like those people who were begging on the roads. I still remember how awful it was to be hungry every day, it hurt almost as much as the bad things that the bad guys did to me. I want to help them.]

This was the most Rose had communicated to her since she joined them. Typically, the largest response they would receive is just a slight nod or shake of the head. After reading what she wrote, Aida was enlightened. She gave Rose a big hug and while combing through her hair gently, "Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I hope you will always do that with me. I'm your mother now, you will never get bullied again. You also have a big family now who will protect you if anyone dares to hurt you or do anything to you."

"The base is bad, but we can fix it. Do you want to do that? We can also save the classmate of yours and make her regret all that she had done to you."

Aida hadn't intended to change this depraved and disgusting den, but for the sake of helping Rose work through her psychological issues, she was willing to spend a little more effort.

Rose nodded with firm eyes, she wanted to punish the bad guys and help the poor starving people.

Aida smiled at her response and began changing her plans. She drafted a new strategy in her mind that could reform the base in the shortest time possible.

While planning, she reminded Rose, "You won't have time to fight the bad guys if you don't have energy."

Rose nodded and began to eat her food ravenously as though the food were her enemy. Little White and Xiao Ai had both sensed her distress and huddled closely to her to give her warmth and support.

They soon drove back to Green Base and were now standing on one side of a grassy open field. One the other side were a group of 50 Variants including Gambling Gary. They all had a variety of physical enhancements that made them look big and intimidating. Rose's former classmate, Sarah, was also brought along. A collar was tied around her neck and held by the base leader, she had a blank look on her face as she stared off into space.

In comparison, Aida's group looked incredibly feeble with just three people and two of them young children. Despite this, Aida and the others remained completely unphased and expressionless.

Gambling Gary walked out with arms wide opened as he asked, "So, are we ready to begin? If you're scared, you can always change your mind and submit to me. I don't mind." A lascivious expression began to creep onto his face.

Aida's killing intent rose as she responded in a clipping tone, "Yes. Let's."

As she said this, Rose stepped up quietly and walked to the middle of the field. This generated more whispers from the other side.

"What's this?" Gambling Gary asked in surprise, "You're sending a child to fight for you?"

Without waiting for Aida to respond, Rose nodded and gestured for him to come to the center of the field to fight. On the side, Sarah's lifeless eyes flickered slightly before returning to its original state. The lackeys who followed Gambling Gary here couldn't help but laugh at the provocation.

Gambling Gary frowned as he saw this, he couldn't afford to look weak in front of his underlings. Incensed by the fact he was being looked down on by a child, he immediately charged up and said with a sneer, "Little girl, you better watch out."

As he reached the center, he immediately stomped his foot and an earth pillar appeared right below Rose. Had it been the Rose from when she was in City C, she would surely have gotten hit and died. Fortunately, she had been very well trained by the others and was prepared for any kind of sudden attack the moment she stepped onto the field. In response to Gambling Gary's cheap shot, she merely rolled to the side before launching her favorite ice spikes.

Sensing the danger, Gambling Gary instinctively dodged to the side. Years of experience fighting on the streets had honed his reflexes which has helped him through many dangerous situations. He hadn't expected that a child no older than 10 years old was able to attack so aggressively.

Turning serious, he stood in a horse stance as he began raising multiple earth spikes to surround Rose and prevent her from dodging the spikes. Had it been any other person, they would certainly have been hit by the spikes. Fortunately, Rose was a genius at using abilities and immediately created an ice platform to lift herself above the earth spikes, allowing herself to escape unharmed.

She then threw out another set of ice spikes at him. Expecting such an attack, he erected an earth wall in front of him to block off the attack. Rose used this opportunity, while his field of vision was blocked, to close the distance between them. Before she could entirely reach him, Gambling Gary had dropped his wall and began hurling rocks towards her with his power. It seems he had predicted that Rose would go on the offensive.

He was absolutely ruthless even in the face of a young child. These projectiles were coming at her with extreme speed and it would be hard for her to dodge.

Aida frowned when she saw this. She had underestimated this base leader's ability to fight and utilize his powers. Xiao Ai also vibrated on her neck, clearly concerned for Rose as well. Both of them readied themselves to intervene.
