179 Bittersweet Departure

Despite the late night, there was still plenty of activity. She took in the scene and committed it to memory before turning back around and diving into the pile of paperwork before her. She was determined to finish everything and set a plan for the base before leaving.

The next morning seemed like a repeat of the previous morning but at a much larger scale. On the last trip into the city, there were only 100 people going along. This time, there were 1,000 people coming along. 200 of them were going into the city for gathering material while the remaining 800 were split 50-50 between prisoners and volunteers for the upcoming battle.

Aida cocked an eyebrow and asked Lackey 2, "So many people?"

Lackey 2 nodded and looked towards Aida in reverence, "Aside from the prisoners, all the others were volunteers who had previously been guards or fighters within the base. They are all highly loyal towards you and are thankful for all the changes you have made to the base."

Aida turned and stared silently at the crowd. Her time here at Green Base had been bittersweet. She quietly remembered each one of their faces and made a silent promise to make sure they all came back in one piece. It was truly unexpected that she would be able to gather so many people loyal to her in such a short time.

As they departed from the base, the entire base had a huge sendoff for Aida. It was unknown whether they loved or hated Aida, but everyone could agree that she had a huge impact on all of their lives despite the short duration she had been around.

Rose sat neatly on the truck with her lolita dress as she watched the base disappear with a mixed expression on her face. Her mother had helped her fulfill her wish. Rose got to watch as the degenerate base was transformed into a great, functional society. Bringing out her notepad, she wrote to Aida, "Will we ever come back?"

Aida smiled and asked, "Do you want to come back?"

Rose paused for a second to think before she nodded back to Aida.

Patting her head, she said, "Alright then."

Rose nodded again. She would enjoy staying at this base with the lackey big brothers who would occasionally sneak her a treat or give her a toy. Unlike her previous life, they treated her like the little sister they never had and like a princess.

The other two lackeys sitting on the roof of the truck were silent. When they heard Aida promise to Rose that she would return to the base, they heaved a sigh of relief. Their greatest fear was that she would just disappear and their base would return to its original state.

As they entered the city with so many people, it immediately attracted a number of Reapers and Enraged. No matter how powerful Aida was, she still wasn't a god and couldn't be in so many places at once so she quickly focused her attention on the level 2 Reapers and got rid of them. It was inevitable for people on this expedition to get injured, but she could at least make sure they didn't have any fatalities.

They travelled around the city and filled up endless containers full of resources as well as obtaining more vehicles. It wasn't enough to last forever, but it should be good enough to kickstart the base.

At this time, Aida bid farewell to everyone present and also left them with a warning. "I'll be leaving now for a bit but if I find anyone on the base falling back to old habits, everyone will be punished."

They all shuddered before shouting out, "Yes Boss!" The thunderous sound reverberated against the high rises in the area. Fortunately, they had already cleared out most of the Enraged and Reapers, so the people were able to get rid of them with relative ease.

She then turned to Lackey 2, "I leave them in your capable hands."

Lackey 2 gave a serious salute. "Yes Boss! We will be eagerly awaiting your return. We wish you success."

At that time, Lackey 1 drove a car up to Aida. Aida hopped into a small car along with Xiao Ai, Rose, and Little White and they drove off. With the small car leading and the rest of the troops in trucks trailing behind, it was quite an odd scene.

Lackey 2 watched as the stream of vehicles disappeared before sighing and turning back to the people present. He signalled for them to set off as well.

Everyone was silent during the drive. Before long, they arrived at the designated meeting spot. Their arrival caused a big commotion with so many vehicles on the road.

Seeing the lone RV sitting on the streets, Aida directed Lackey 1 to drive up to it. Rose and Little White's eyes lit up as they saw the familiar RV.

Similarly, Rin, who was the lookout at the time, had already seen Aida's car approaching from afar and immediately ran to inform everyone of Aida's arrival. The twins and Ace immediately launched themselves at Aida while Xiao Ai, Rose and Little White went to hug Light and Lucifer. Both Light and Lucifer had on smiles as they quietly inspected Aida for injuries.

Seven stood at the side, watching with curious eyes. Lackey 1, who had quietly gotten out of the car, followed Aida and the others into the RV.
