100 Betrayal

Aida and Xiao Ai quietly snuck back into the base and headed towards the city hall. Aida kept her scan on to inspect each building and soon found Lucifer on the top floor of the building besides the city hall. She deftly scaled the building like she was walking on a flat surface and peered through the window.

In the room, she saw that Lucifer had passed out and was lying prone on the ground with another man sitting on the couch drinking wine. It seems her hypothesis was correct, he had indeed been caught.

Terrance had his back to the window and didn't notice Aida. He swirled a nice glass of red wine in his hand as he looked over at the unconscious Lucifer. Terrance shook his head as though it was a pity, "Tsk tsk, who would've thought the high and mighty Randy could be brought down by a simple shot of tequila and a little something else."

Right then, he felt a knife pressed against his carotid as he heard a sinister chuckle from behind him, "Indeed, what a foolish man for trusting an odd friend. Care to tell me what's going on?"

Terrance froze in shock. He hadn't noticed Aida's presence at all as she expertly climbed through the window and into the room. He opened his mouth and was about to call for help when the knife pressed down harder, drawing some blood, "Now, now, I wouldn't do that if I were you."

Aida sounded exactly like a standard villain. Xiao Ai who was wrapped around Aida quietly giggled to herself.

"So? Are you going to tell me what's going on?" Aida asked coldly, ignoring Terrance's fear.

"Y-y-yes, please don't kill me. I'll tell you everything."

"Speak. I'm listening. As for your fate… well we can decide that depending on mood."

"The government sent out a high alert notice to apprehend Randy or any of his associates if they appeared in any of the bases. If we successfully caught him, we would be awarded with resources and medical supplies."

"How do you know Randy?"

"I was under a protection program a few years back and Randy was on my security detail. He saved my life."

"Tsk tsk, so you were planning to turn in your savior for a few resources? Who knew your life was worth so little," Aida asked sardonically.

"I have no choice. We're left out here in the middle of nowhere and I have to run this base, we need the resources to survive."

"I suppose you also had no choice when you chose to torture a 9 year old child who was abandoned by her father too?"

"H-h-how did you know about that?!" Terrance asked in an agitated voice. The lab was supposed to be under the utmost security and nobody was ever supposed to know what was going on in there. That was their trump card for trading with the government.

Instead of answering, she asked Terrance a few other questions about the circumstances in the other bases, and the condition of the government. Finishing the round of questioning, she said, "Last question, how do I wake him up?"

"He will wake up naturally. We were ordered only to capture but not kill."

"Ok." Aida responded and then used her arm to knock Terrance out. Looking at Lucifer, she tapped Xiao Ai who sent out a burst of lightning, shocking Lucifer awake. This would be his punishment for carelessly getting captured by an enemy.

Waking up, Lucifer leaped up from his prone position and landed in a crouch, preparing to fight. Looking around, he saw Aida who was looking at him mockingly and then relaxed his body, smiling sheepishly at her. "What are you doing here?"

Rolling her eyes, she responded lazily, "Saving your sorry ass."

Lucifer's eyes continued to dart around to determine where he was and it finally dawned on him that he had been betrayed by Terrance. Seeing that he understood what had occurred, Aida explained, "The government wants to capture you. What have you done?"

Lucifer still had the ever present smile on his face but Aida could feel the killing intent rising from him, "I kept a little insurance in case I would be betrayed. It seems I was right in doing so."

Aida looked quietly at him for a second before simply responding, "I see." She had no real interest in finding out what Lucifer was hiding. "So what do you want to do with him now?"

Lucifer thought a bit and said, "Let him live. He can just live in fear of my revenge for the rest of his life." He got up and wrote a short note to Terrance before signalling to Aida that they could leave.

Aida didn't approve of this decision as she preferred to tie up all loose ends immediately, but this was not her decision to make. After he was done, the two of them scaled down the building. Instead of heading towards the exit, Aida made a slight detour.

Aida stopped by a store and pulled over a few bags full of fertilizer. Handing two of them to Lucifer, she also grabbed another two. Then she stopped by another store to obtain propane gas before making their way towards the lab. She had him stand on the side and use her phone to record everything. Then she snuck each of the fertilizer bags and cans of propane into the building, and had Xiao Ai send out a streak of lightning, setting it on fire. Aida coolly walked away from the building, not turning back even once as the entire building came crumbling down.

Lucifer, who was still recording, looked at Aida in admiration and felt somewhat sentimental. Her image overlapped with the image of the assassin Lillith who saved him before. He continued staring at her with those awestruck eyes even after she reached him. Rolling her eyes, she smacked him on the side of the head and ended the recording, "Let's head back to the RV and leave before trouble comes finding us."
