13 Chapter 13 - Trip

Ye Xen had made things really difficult for Nie Lie. He had already aroused suspicion against him in the first class itself and now with him running his mouth over the inscription pattern, he was on the radar of the principal and the forces of the City Lord, monitoring the city and catching criminals. They worked just like the police force and only consisted of experts who were Gold rank or above when it comes to cultivation.

When Nie Lie was questioned about his knowledge on the inscriptions and how he gained them, he bullshitted his way out by saying he sneaked into the library at night, something which was against the rules and did not warrant harsh punishment.

He still made that stupid bet with Shen Xiu when she called him a rule breaker. He promised to reach 3-star Bronze rank in a span of 2 months, how foolish. This allowed Ye Xen to create a simple plan to get rid of him. No matter what cultivation technique he practices, no cultivation technique passed down in Glory City can allow that to happen. It would at least take them 3 or maximum 5 months. If he managed to achieve that, Ye Xen could have him arrested on the grounds of suspicion of colluding with the Dark Guild and if proven guilty, he would die.

It was as simple as that to remove him since his own hubris and pettiness would be his downfall.

Though right now, Ye Ziyun, Ye Xen and Xiao Ning'er were waiting at the gates of Glory City alongside a bunch of people who were tagging along to explore the ruins of a city that had been lost to the Age of Darkness, the Ancient Orchid City. A city that was part of the Sacred Empire before it was lost to the Age of Darkness.

Ye Xen had promised Chen Linjan that they would find the treasure if they listened and searched the area, he speculated the treasure was at. Chen Linjan agreed and promised him that if they found any treasure, Ye Xen could pick whatever he wants before everyone else. The two shook hands over this agreement and set out to explore the ruins.

On the road, Ye Ziyun and Ye Xen were mostly seen with Xiao Ning'er. Ye Xen had mended their friendship a bit and they were no longer feeling awkward around each other. They were not best friends mind you, but they would get their eventually.

He let the two reform their bond and had 2 Black-Gold rank experts behind them constantly. He knew that because of their status, they were major targets for many members of the Dark Guild. For safety reasons, he also placed a marker on Ziyun so that if she is in danger, he would get to know immediately.

Shen Yue, the brat of Sacred Family, kept trying to get together with Ziyun but the presence of the experts as well as Ye Xen was enough to keep him away though the brat was always trying to find openings. Persistent little bastard.

They were on the road to the ruins, a route which takes nearly 4 to 5 days to reach. And throughout the trip Ye Xen vowed to complete the set of goals he had in mind for the trip.

Number one, get the Shadow Devil lamp and the gemstone that increases the cultivation rate of a person by three times.

Number two, get a suitable armor and other artefacts from the ruins to study since they might contain useful information like runes and inscriptions that would have been carved onto them.

And number three, the most important objective of all. Sleep with Huyan Lanruo and get Xiao Ning'er to kiss him and confess to him.

He was going to be busy as hell for these 5 days.
