1 1. The End of a Captain. (Prologue)

It's over...It's all finally over...

"CAPTAIN YAMI!!!"

This idiot! He still won't let me rest a little! After all of this hopping around the spade kingdom, fighting the king of devils, meeting up with Nacht, I deserve a break from all this bullshit! Then again, I am the captain of the bulls.

"CAPTAIN!!!"

"SHUT UP BRAT OR I'LL CRUSH THIS BRAINLESS LITTLE HEAD OF YOURS TO MUSH!!!"

"GAAAAHHHHH, YOU'RE GONNA KILL ME CAPTAIN!!"

Asta. The same magicless brat I met all that time ago, at the knights exams. He's still such a loudmouth. Though I guess he's a little more dependable now, he's still nowhere near my level. I MEAN HE CAN'T EVEN WIN AT GAMBLING. With that I let go of him and he went back to screaming.

"CAPTAIN ARE YOU OKAY?!?! YOU'RE BLEEDING LIKE CRAZY!!!

"IT'S THE ENEMY'S BLOOD DUMBASS, NOW SHUT UP!!!"

I lied. Anyone other than this dumbass would know devil blood isn't red. Just hopefully he'll shut up now.

I lied. I don't regret it. But it's not the best feeling right now. Though... The damage is already done. It's irreversible. It's over.

Several organs of mine, were crushed in the fight with Lucifero. I'm surprised I'm still talking. Charlotte was right when she said I'm all muscles. Nacht is still in better condition than me at least. The other captains are asleep, after being healed.

The Royal brat with the healing magic is doing her thing on Nacht. I doubt anyone noticed, or even if they did, they're probably too tired to care, but, the healing brat is barely conscious.

She's almost completely drained of magic.

Mind down.

She's surpassing her limits right now, healing Nacht. But he's probably last on her list. Then she'll run out of magic completely. Nacht will be standing in a while I think.

There's nothing that can be done about me though. Too many internal injuries and quite a bit of blood loss. All I want to do is slip away quietly and this damn muscle brain won't even let me do that!

"I'M GLAD YOU'RE OKAY CAPTAIN YAMI!!"

Dial down the noise fool! And yet, surprisingly, I don't dislike it. I'm glad the idiot's energetic enough to scream like a banshee even now. Where's the rest of those idiots...

""CAPTAIN""

There they are.

As soon as they came they started screaming their heads off about all kinds of bullshit with everyone going on about their own thing. And why the hell is Gauche asking for a damn sister break in this situation?!

This is the black bulls. This is my family.

*Thud*

I glanced over to where the sound came from, to see that the healing brat had fallen. Nacht was walking over to me.

The bulls were still going on with their bullshit.

"QUIT YOUR YAPPING ALL OF YOU!!"

They all finally shut up. They were all smiling, they were all happy. I'm glad I got to see this sight.

"Everyone, I need to talk to Yami for a while, could you give us some space?" Nacht asked as the bulls listened and left us to talk. All of them except Finral.

Nacht and I were wondering what happened to him. He looked like he had seen a ghost. He was looking at me dumbfounded and pale.

"Ca- Captain... Please... You're not... Captain you... Are you really going to..."

Ah. So he knew. He knew what would happen next. And so did Nacht.

"Look on the bright side. Now *COUGH* you'll have more time to flirt at the capital rather than be my transportation all day", I said, coughing up some blood.

Nacht looked neutral. Finral was breaking down.

"No... Please no... I don't want this... *hic* Captain... You can't leave us...", he muttered through tears.

Nacht put a hand on his shoulder and whispered something in his ear. He looked thoughtful for a few seconds and eventually started wiping away his tears.

With a lot of effort I put my hand out. Finral got the cue and used his magic to get my cigarettes and lighter from the hideout and gave me a smoke.

Nacht took it and lit it for me. They know me too well. Thanks to these idiots I can take in a few more puffs. My last puffs. On my last cigarette.

Nacht and Finral tried their best to smile, as they looked at me and gave me the magic knights salute.

""Thank you, Captain"", they both said. I wasn't expecting this. But I was satisfied nonetheless.

There... Peace at last...

I pulled out the cigarette and released some smoke.

"Thanks idiots", I spoke. My last words.

I hope all the idiots fulfill their dreams. That loud brat better become wizard king. I glanced at the bunch as they were all smiling and talking in the distance. They'd better not wreck the hideout when I'm gone.

A single tear fell from my left eye as my vision darkened.

Goodbye idiots. Goodbye...my family.
