Prologue: A Crushed Future

XXX_ Case 1_ The Beginning

"A shattered family."

That's what they call us.

My brother, who has been with me for 15 years of my life, suddenly jumped to his death 3 days ago.

It was shocking news.

I was there. At the very top of this apartment, the roof. The place where it all happens.

His eyes were hollowed, full of sadness and it feel... empty. I knew what was going on, I knew it all but I couldn't stopped him. That day, he was talking weirdly unlike his usual cheerful self, about hell and heaven, place where the dead go afterwards.

"Kuro, I wonder where will I go after I die?"

"Hmm? Weird question, bro. You've never talked about these things."

"Haha, never mind then."

Right, maybe... if only had I answered his question back then. Would he still by alive by now?

I know, it's a stupid thought, but I couldn't stop thinking about even just a slight chance.

After his death, my parents divorced, and I was left with my dad. But soon after, he left too, leaving nothing behind but his gloomy sadness and despair.

"At least the house still here." I thought.

Before I could deepen myself into these depressing thought, the clock strikes 12 mid-noon.

*Sigh*... "Guess it's time for some shopping then, we're running low on food anyway."

Taking a few $5 notes that I have been saving for the so-called university in the past few years. Now, that my family are gone, no one gonna praised me anyway, then why should I stay as a good son forever?

"Crap, the supermarket gonna close in a few hours. Gotta hurry, Kuro!"

And so I dashed toward the supermarket blindly without knowing what's ahead that gonna be a huge turn of my life."
