Green Screens

The main purpose of a green screen is to simplify the job of an editor. With the help of a green screen, the editor wouldn't need to zoom in and cut out each object/person separately. This would be very impractical for movies as based on the standard of 24 fps (frames/images per second) over a thousand photos would be taken per minute. Another issue would be that without the help of a green screen, quite a few live shows would lose a substantial portion of their income. For example weather broadcasts would be lower quality and have weird lighting effects if the green screen was replaced with a monitor. The lower quality would be due to recording a video of a video and the weird lighting would be produced be the monitor. Another example would be how live streamers wouldn't be able to just show their faces and minimize the screen wastage.

Why do most people prefer green screens over blue or red screens? This is because, first of all the only colors that would work would be either green or blue, because they aren't present in human skin tones. Furthermore green is preferred as it is more likely for a person to be wearing blue than green. A more technical reason would be that a green background gives better results as it is a more luminous color.

The first star wars movie actually didn't use any green screens. [Some claim that this was due to animation and cgi not having been invented yet which utter bullshit. The movie was released in 1977 but cgi was already being used by movies in 1973 (and animation was invented a long time ago).] Nevertheless the effects were really good considering how they didn't use cgi.
