Fortune Cookies

Fortune cookies aren't really Chinese. They were invented by the Japanese and will hardly ever be eaten in China. From the Chinese's perspective, fortune cookies are American.

Fortune cookies are baked as flat round circles which then get folded right before they harden. Otherwise it would complicate the production immensely. They are so simple to make, that the Wonton Food Inc. in Brooklyn produces over 4.5 million fortune cookies each day.
