14 Callipso 1

"WHAT YOU ARE SEEING, XERXES, IS THE APOCALYPSE THAT CHANGED THE WORLD," he said absentmindedly, focusing on the lightning he had created with his hands.

Reading it from the scrolls was different from actually seeing the events unfold before your eyes. The gods were standing at the top of a volcano with their arms stretched out. The empty space between them starting to glow white with lava flowing out dramatically. A violent storm with thunder and lightning hovered above as the ground quaked intensely, splitting into sections. It was a horrible sight to behold, the gods had unsurmountable powers.

"What are they doing?" I shivered nervously. I was sweating from watching these events unfold before me.

"JUST WATCH," he said with an evil smirk on his face. He was enjoying the sight of watching me shrink in fear. He was evil, that was for sure. I wanted to look away, I wanted to look away and cancel all these things from my mind, but I could not. I was inquisitive. I had to know what would happen next.

The volcano erupted violently as the auras of each god flowed away from their bodies into the glowing ball.

"Now!" Uranus yelled as Zemeta grunted before releasing a burst of lightning so bright, the glow from the ball paled in comparison to her powers. She fell off the mountain top, shattering the earth below. She closed her eyes in exhaustion. That was the last of her strength fused into the ball.

Oceania raised his trident with the sea around the island shrinking into a tiny blob of water. The ball rotated with much speed creating a perfect sphere before hovering above his trident. I marveled at his unbelievable power, he had shrunk an entire sea into a drop of water. Unbelievable!

Without wasting another second, he threw his trident with the drop of water into the sphere making it explode with uncontrollable rage destroying the top of the volcano. Lava gushed out as Gagontae created a platform for the remaining gods to stand upon. It was chaos everywhere. Oceania who was already weak from his feat laid on the ground panting profusely. What were they trying to achieve, I asked myself. It seemed unnecessary to drain their powers for whatever cause they were doing it for.

Gagontae and Senile looked at each other before nodding in unison. The former created a spear, with the latter holding up a sword. They jumped towards the ball with their weapons glowing red as they threw them into the ball creating a shockwave which parted the clouds. Falling onto their backs, they let out a heavy sigh with their hands bleeding from using too much of their powers. What were they really trying to achieve, I asked again. Wasn't this a bit too much?

Only two remained on the platform created by the goddess of forgery — Mephistopheles, my father and his brother Uranus. The ball had grown bigger with its glow shining brighter than before. From the looks of it, they were struggling to keep the ball stable as it spun violently.

"Brother," Uranus grunted. "Let us do it."

He nodded before letting his aura envelop the ball with Uranus' lightning. Darkness and light flowed from the two gods enveloping the ball in a chaotic balance. It was a tug-of-war between their powers, each evenly matched and having no power over the other. The wind howled explosively, shattering the trees that were still standing after all the chaos that had happened. The island started to give way under the gods influences as the powers of light and dark tore into it. Thunder and lightning flashing across the dark skies above and red lava bubbling from the grounds below. I had goosebumps watching the gods work and I fell onto my knees in retrospect to my thoughts.

"Now!" Mephistopheles yelled as a high pitched sound reverberated in the air, the ball rotating at high speed and growing bigger with each second. They both grunted letting their auras overwhelm them, shattering everything that was once known to be an island, laying waste to the land before them. I closed my eyes as the light of the ball pierced through the darkness with blinding light, lava bursting out of the now shattered earth with ease, creating a cinematic orchestra.

Opening my eyes, I watched the entire area get covered with nothing but flowing lava, lightning and ash, the sky now red just as the ground. The gods laid out in different places, panting from the feat they had accomplished. What had they created, I asked myself, looking at the glowing ball which had grown to human size.

"Did it work?" an exhausted Zemeta moaned. She was clearing the lava which had covered her torso.

"I think it did," Senile laughed with an elated look on his face. Following his eyes, I saw the ball begin to crack as the gods struggled to their feet, panting. The wounds and bruises they had garnered had already healed, it was like nothing had happened to them.

With each crack of the ball, a shockwave was released from it making me shiver. Their eyes just like mine was fixed on the ball, on what they had created.

"Brother, what are you doing?" asked Oceania to Uranus whose hands had already created bolts of lightning. His face burrowed in concentration while he stared intensely at the ball.

"This was a mistake," he heaved, before flying towards the ball with lightning bolts. Senile jumped to hold him down as Zemeta ran after him, dragging him away from reaching Uranus.

"You're not strong enough yet," she noted with concern. "You still need to heal."

"What in my name is he doing?" Mephistopheles erupted angrily.

"Uranus!" Gagontae yelled out, but the god had already made up his mind.

He was in close proximity to the ball when a hand broke out of it, gripping the gods neck in mid-air to everyones surprise. The lightning bolts dissipated into the air as the god struggled to free himself. After what I had seen him do with his powers, it was hard to believe that he could be stopped by another creature, let alone with one hand. The other gods gasped as they looked on in silence.

"IT'S TOO LATE FOR THAT NOW, DON'T YOU THINK?" a familiar voice echoed in the wind. My eyes widened with surprise, it was not possible.

With little effort, the hand flung the god away like he was nothing but a used toy as he smashed into the earth creating a crater with his weight. The gods still surprised at what had happened rushed to the fallen god who was angry at his failed solo mission.

"What were you thinking Uranus?" Mephistopheles exploded. "Did you even put your heart into the creation of this creature?"

"Not now brother, taking down that creature is our main priority," he grunted, tossing a huge rock away from his body. "Creating it was a mistake."

The crack spread rapidly across the ball making the gods look up with fear in their eyes. They made a battle stance, getting ready for whatever foe they would come across. Uranus spread his hands to the sky as lightning rained down on him making his eyes glow white. He had a menacing look on his face. This time, he was determined to succeed, no matter the cost.

The creature inside the ball laughed as it finally shattered its prison revealing the foe within. A naked being with aura more sinister and powerful than the gods combined levitated with its hand outstretched.

"IT FEELS GOOD TO BE BORN," its voice echoed again. "AND I DONT PLAN ON GOING BACK."

The glow started to reduce with its face becoming visible. I gasped as the demonic smirk I had grown to hate spread across his face.

It was Callipso, he was the creature in the ball.
