Awake

I could hear voices echoing, but they meant nothing to me.

Everything was dark and I could feel something pounding on my chest.

I wanted to be alone. I needed to be alone.

The earth was filled with nothing but pain and suffering. I was a goner for sure. This had to be the end for me. There was no need fighting for worthless things. Life was not worth it. Death was...

"Wake up you chunk of fish food," I heard someone yell as my cheeks began to sting from the endless barrages of punches it received.

Sighing deeply at how humans were always empathetic to people who were sick but cared less when you were healthy, I raised my hand to show that I was alive and also because I got tired of being hit repeatedly.

"Normal people would open their eyes, spurt water out of their face holes and jump at being hammered countlessly," a high pitched feminine voice snapped in disgust. "I'm guessing you're one of those stupid gods that landed on earth."

She must really hate the gods for her tone was revolting. Well, we were on the same page.

Opening my eyes to look at the lady before me, I was struck dumb with amazement at her beauty. She was tall and athletic. Her brown hair flowed in the wind giving her a godly persona. Queen was beautiful and damn sexy but she was nothing when compared to the woman who stood before me. Every detail on her face and body called out to me and I wondered if I was worthy enough to be before such a beauty. Her eyes were dark brown like honey making me speechless as I fell into an abyss of wonder staring at her.

"Crab got your tongue?" She snapped again.

Regaining sanity and struggling to my feet, I staggered for a bit before falling onto a palm tree breaking it in half.

"Oh please, there are more trees for you to break my Lord. There's one over there and over there and oh look, over there!" she hissed violently.

"Have I done something wrong my lady?" I asked respectfully. I was confused at her venomous tone. I mean, I just woke up from my slumber.

"Your very existence is wrong," she erupted. "All you gods ever do is destroy things and expect humans to bow onto the ground in respect to your destructive powers."

"I never told you I was a god," I retorted.

She spread out her arms with a sad smile on her face, "You already did."

Following her gesture, I was shocked at the level of destruction which had befallen the land. So many trees fallen as if they had been struck by lightning. The surface of the land cracked and broken like a giant had punched into it. The ocean evaporating with the waters turning into steam.

"You don't belong here," she sighed. "Go back to Uranus. You gods are not welcome on our island."

She started to walk away as I felt bad looking at what I had caused. The last thing I could remember was falling into the ocean with the waters pushing me farther from the ship. How had I caused the chaos on this island? Was it even me?

Shaking my head from side to side, I began to see the whole picture clearly.

Olly! He had cut my lifeline intending for me to drown underwater. Of course I remembered asking Callipso for help to which he cursed me for interrupting his 'me time'. I remembered feeling extremely powerful while riding the waves to this island. Out of anger I dropped onto the earth in an aggressive manner giving rise to the destruction laid out before me. I began to think of Petra. Without me she could die, I needed to get back to the ship.

"Hey!" I yelled out running after the lady. She pretended to not hear me, increasing her pace until I caught up to her. "I need your help," I said, blocking her path with my body.

"You're a god, figure it out yourself," she spat out, brushing past me in a hurry.

"Please!" I begged solemnly. "I'm sorry for whatever crime you think I committed, but know that I didn't mean any of it."

She stopped in her tracks, clenching her fists impatiently.

"If I showed you the way out, don't ever come back," she declared with finality in her tone.

"Sure, whatever you say," I agreed happily.

"Follow me," she said before levitating into the sky leaving me shocked. She turned around to see me staring with my jaw on the floor.

"Are you coming or what?"

"Yeah... sure... I'm right behind you," I stammered.

She shrugged her shoulders unconcerned, turned around and flew into the sky slowly. I could not fly without destroying things around me, so I ran after her. I had caused enough damage already.

We had been going for hours on end and I was beginning to wonder if the island had any exit. She had not said a word since we left the beach. It was dry and uncomfortable and I decided to try out an ice breaker.

"So... You can fly?" I asked jokingly.

"How about you focus on running," She responded coldly.

I was not about to give up yet.

"What's your name?" I queried to which she gave no response.

"My name is Xerxes and I'm from the Klax clan."

She frowned, increasing her pace as I panted trying to keep up with her.

"You might wonder what a guy like me is doing on your island, but trust me this was the last place I wanted to find myself. Almost got killed by a friend... No, he's an enemy now. Anyway..."

"Will you stop talking for one damn minute," she blew up violently dropping on the ground as it cracked under her weight.

"You... um... broke the ground," I pointed out ignoring her sigh of frustration.

"Do you ever shut up?" She barked.

"Yes I do. But it would be nice if you would talk to me."

"Well, I don't wanna."

"Why? I'd already apologized," I said walking up to her until we were staring into each others eyes intently.

"Apologies won't fix the trees y'know. It won't bring back the dead animals in the sea nor will it bring back the frightened animals on earth. It won't also fix the broken beach or the poisoned waters," she stamped down crossing her arms.

"I am sorryyyyy," I stressed out. "Jeez, you're worse than my father."

"Let's just get this over with. I don't want you to spend another second on this island. You've already done enough," her irritated voice rang out as she levitated once more.

"Fair enough," I mumbled under my breath.

A pained growl echoed from the forest around us as I peered through the thick vegetations.

"Let's get you out of here," she announced in urgency.

"What's the hurry?" I asked as the sound came off, louder this time. "What's that?"

"Let's just go," she erupted.

What was she talking about? Something was clearly wrong here. A creature was in trouble.

Leaving her floating in the air, I ran into the forest following the sound of the creature.

"Wait!" I heard her scream, but I ignored it. She was hiding something and I was going to find out what it was.

The growl came again and this time it was closer — I was closer. I could feel the creatures heavy breathing vibrate through the earth. I slowed down to get myself ready for what I would see. Crouching down, blending with the bushes, I pushed past the vegetation and there it was in a clearing. A green footed dragon laid on the ground with its blood tainting the ground green, it was wounded.

A beautiful and magnificent creature it was. I had heard tales about it but never actually seen one in person. The King of dragons as it was normally called was a ferocious beast and a monster amongst its species. It was considered extinct unlike the Red-eyed horned lizard which the Vladians rode. This beast could easily topple an entire horde of Vladian dragons with its roar. Tall tales I know, but standing in front of one made me uneasy while I tried to control my racing heart.

It groaned again as it hopelessly tried to stand. One of its legs bled profusely, it could die if it continued that way.

Walking close to the beast with my hands stretched out in front of me, I waddled in its blood trying my best to not spook the creature.

It caught whiff of my scent and growled threateningly into my direction. Pushing itself off the ground, it took a defensive pose facing me with a menacing look.

It was humongous. A normal dragon would be about twenty to thirty feet long weighing more than two tons. This creature was about sixty feet long with its muscles bulging out of its thick scales as it easily outweighed other dragons. This beast was no joke. It was called the King of dragons for a reason.

"Easy boy. Take it easy," I whispered to the angry dragon while it prepared to attack.

Putting my hands up, a wall of air shielded me from the dragons attack as it roared explosively. Its roar broke through my shield, pushing me backwards as I crashed through tree after tree.

Using my feet to create a jet stream of fire, I slowed down my momentum before coming to a halt. The bones on my hands were stitching back together while I braced for another attack. It roared again and this time I was ready, creating a wall of fire and air, however it was not enough. The force of its roar broke through again shattering every bone in my body, sending me flying further into the woods.

Smashing into a mountain, I came to a stop with my body trying desperately to heal itself. From a distance, I could see the dragon crawl on its belly, its eyes filled with rage and pain. It was going to attack again.

My hands and legs were not healed yet and as such I was stuck in a bad position. With my shields I could barely stop its attacks, if it attacked again as I knew it would, I would surely be killed.

It stopped moving, flexed its muscles one more time as I mentally prepared myself to tank its next outburst.

"Hang on!" I heard her cry out as she dropped down in front of me with a smirk on her face. "Don't flinch."

The dragon roared explosively making her cross her hands together creating some sort of shield which blocked its attacks from getting to us. I closed my eyes expecting the worst, but it never came. Opening my eyes slowly, she still had her shield up which deflected the roars. The mountain crumbled with pieces of it falling onto us, but the shield was large enough to defend us from getting crushed.

The dragons roars had no effect on her shield making me wonder why mine was weak and hers effective. It stopped its attack as it started to spit out blood falling onto the ground violently.

"Gilgamesh!" she screamed putting down her shield while running towards the fallen dragon.

My body had been stitched back together and I was fine now. Jumping into the air, I dropped in between her and the dragon preparing to finish it off with lightning.

"No you don't," I heard her say before I was tossed into the air away from the dragon. Stopping myself mid flight, I saw her take a defensive stance before the creature. She was protecting the dragon.

Levitating close to her, I tried to understand what was going on.

"Why are you standing before it?" I asked. "It attacked us..."

"It attacked you," she cut in. "I was only defending you from being killed by it."

The dragon groaned in pain when I felt its heartbeat slow down. It had a few minutes to live. I had to do something.

I felt pity upon her as she held the dragons head while she cried her eyes out. Green blood flowed everywhere. The only one I could call at this moment was Petra, but she was still on the ship.

"LET ME HELP," I heard Callipso say. Of course, I mumbled to myself. The force of destruction was the power source of the green footed dragons, I had read about it at the underground library. He must have felt a special pull to the creature seeing as it was about to breathe its last. Letting him take over, a surge of energy flowed through my body with my eyes glowing brightly, increasing my senses by a thousand fold. Looking at the dragon, I diagnosed its body to find out it had been hit by lightning in a vital part.

"MOVE," I heard him say through me as the lady walked away slowly in fear. Putting my hands on the dragons head, I could feel a special connection with the beast. I could hear its thoughts, see its memories and feel its emotions. I was one with the beast.

Its wounds started to heal up slowly as its heartbeat increased. It was healed. It was okay.

Moving away from the creature, I felt weak as I fell onto the ground. The lady came up to me putting my head on her lap whilst giving me water from a gourd. It made me remember Ang for some unknown reason, maybe because I had been in a similar situation before.

"May I know your name my lady," I croaked out, hopelessly smiling at her beauty. If I was going to be weak before such a creature, I could at least get her name.

"Kenzie," she smiled. "My name is Kenzie."
