Prologue

"Mother where do you think we'll put this egg? is it even a real one?" Vincent said skeptical about the unusual size of the white and blue spotted egg as he used a stick to poke it making it roll.

"Oh no!, where do you think you're rolling off to egg?" he called as he ran after it, dismissing his mother's warning call on how dangerous the woods are.

"gotcha!" he heaved a sigh of relief as he grabbed the egg from going any further, but fright instantly gripped him as he heard crunching sounds of leaves a stone throw from where he was.

"Who-who's there?!" he managed a whisper with trembling lips, scanning the surrounding area and saw at a distance a girl who stood at a reasonable distance in the shadows.

"Your mother must be worried, take this straight path you would meet her there" the girl said pointing at a direction ahead of Vincent.

"Who are you?" he called, all he got as response was a giggle with a cryptic message from this mysterious girl "we'll see" as she ran off.

Vincent would have followed her but fright wouldn't let him so instead he took the mysterious girl's advice following the path and found his mother anxiously searching the woods until her gaze fell on him as relief washed over her, instantly hugging him "don't ever do that to me again, if your father knew-" she scolded but held the last part, "I'm just glad you're safe" she hugged him again. "Let's go home" she finally said.

Queen Milana watched as her son Vincent held on to the egg tightly as they were in the carriage leading them off to their home, the kingdom of Xandia.

The sounds of trumpets could be heard as the royal family crossed the bridge into their kingdom. The news of a neighborhood kingdom seeking war but were willing to make a truce for a price spread like wildfire as it led Xandia citizens wondering, what was this price the neighboring kingdom of Tycan wanted?

"mother could you please read me a bedtime story?" Vincent held on to his mother's nightdress.

She looked over her shoulder as he put on his best pleading look "alright, which story do you have in mind?" she asked as her hands circled his bookshelf waiting for the right moment when he would say- "STOP" he yelled and her hand touched an all too familiar book which she has read to him over the past 13years of his life.

"I had a feeling you would pick this one" Queen Milana had a smile on her face, she pulled the book out as she sat down on his bed, he snuggled up on her laps as she put on her dramatic voice as she began.

"In the land of Garcia there lived a princess-" she was interrupted by his usual "but mom, wasn't that princess you?, it was your family's kingdom right? and-"

"shhhh, you'll spoil the fun or do you want to read it alone?" she looked down at her son who shook his head vigorously in a no, making a zip and throwing the key gesture which earned him a laughter from his mother "I take that as a I should continue, so now where was I? oh yes, -she was faced with a test in the process she was able to befriend an unusual creature, do you know what that creature was?" she asked her son.

He nodded his head vigorously not wanting to say anything as promised, "you can speak sweetie" she gave a nod of acknowledgement in his direction. He released a breath he didn't know he was holding and yelled in excitement "It was a dragon!! but are they real? I don't remember seeing one before" he had a puzzled look now as he put a finger in his lips looking upwards trying to think.

"what do you think is in that egg?, a big baby ostrich? a pegasus? a giant SNAKE?!-" she said the latter part with a hiss, slightly frightening Vincent "whoops sorry about that, or is it a Dragon?" she dragged the last word wriggling her brows looking at her son then at the egg placed at the corner of his room on it's makeshift nest which only seemed to make her son's eyes widened in surprise.

"That's a dragon egg?!, are they not meant to be evil, mother? why hasn't anyone spoken on dragon sightings? I thought they were a myth, what will the-" he kept spilling array of questions.

The Queen had to postpone his questions for another day as it is the third hour of the night "I'll answer your questions someday my child, when you're old enough, now you have to go to bed, Goodnight sweetie" she stood up from his bed carefully tucking him in and kissing his forehead before closing the door behind her heading to her bedchamber.
