5 A Twist

King Rodriguez slouched lazily on his throne, antipathy seething off him. "Dean!!" he called the commander.

"My king, how may I be of service?" he bowed not daring to look into his eyes.

"Did commander Blair take the bait?" he asked.

"Yes my King, the guards did as they were told all we have to do is wait for them to lead us to our- I mean your prized goal" the commander replied eyes still fixed to the floor.

"That's good news, at least you take directions well, I love a good plot twist!" he rose from his throne, his close proximity causing a chill running down the spine of Dean. "This calls for celebration!!" he spread out his arms in delight , "prepare a feast, we are one step closer in getting that egg, make sure Amelia puts on something outstanding, I wouldn't want to disappoint the guests" he dismissed him with a wave of his hand.

"As you wish Sire" he said reluctantly before taking his leave, heading towards the princess chamber.

Dean let out a deep breath as he knocked lightly on the princess door, " Princess Amelia?" he called quietly, he dreaded disturbing her beauty sleep as opposed to the last time that happened, she threw a fit and nearly got hit by the ceramic vase she threw at his direction.

He could hear the creaking of her bed and instinctively prepared for the worst as her footsteps could be heard approaching, she opened the door slightly observing his nervous attitude, "what do you want?, and it better be good!" she sneered.

"Princess Amelia, I didn't mean to disturb you, but your father said I should inform you put on something outstanding, I- I don't mean what you wear isn't always spectacular though-" he prattled as he always did around the princess.

"what's the occasion?" she scoffed clearly frustrated.

"um.. I can't say for now but he is expecting you soon" he jittered, "I'll take my leave now, Your Highness" he gave a slight bow before scurrying out of her line of sight.

"Ugh!, Pathetic" she rolled her eyes before slamming the door.

"Princess Amelia dear, we've been awaiting your arrival" King Rodriguez gave a ruse smile as the guests marveled at his daughter's beauty, her flawless updo which made her striking raven black hair accentuate her mystical hazel eyes "what took you so long?" he asked through gritted teeth as he tried hiding his displeasure.

She took her place at the table, "You did say I should look outstanding, didn't you?" she said the latter part etched in sarcasm. "This outstanding makeover doesn't just take several minutes like your boring formal attire" she never once took notice of the intense anger disseminating from the King.

The guest looked back and forth at the King and the princess, anticipating something, anything to happen soon. To their surprise, the King's anger cooled off as he had an oddly smug look on his face, "That's how I know you're my daughter, you're as witty and brave as I am" he said with a slight chuckle.

"Anyways, so where were we?" he thought for a moment, his royal advisor Alfred whispered the information in his ears. "Aha!, we want to officially celebrate my daughter, the future Queen of Xandia!" he raised his golden goblet upwards.

"To the princess!!" they all chorused.

"What?!, Xandia? that despicable kingdom? oh! you're selling me off now father?" she yelled, startling almost everyone.

"I don't see it as selling you off, think of it as marrying the prince of Xandia and taking over the kingdom, be rich and powerful beyond your wildest dreams once the royal family is no more" King Rodriguez said playing off her claims, with a little hidden meaning in his words as he smiled mostly to himself.

"Whatever" she muttered, accepting defeat.

"Oh!, My mistake, you will be at their kingdom by noon tomorrow, you'll be guarded on your trip there, you might want to have your beauty rest! now run along" he chastised her, clapping his hands as two guards took their places beside her, ready to escort the princess to her bedchamber.

She stood up reluctantly, "don't you dare touch me!" she warned the guards as she stormed out of the hall, "This is so unbelievable!!, mother wouldn't have condoned this if she were here!" her screams could be heard down the hallway.

A deafening silence followed as all guest looked terrified, the King no matter how he wanted to put it, had just carried out his grudge against his daughter for her disregard of his title and his decisions in front of the guest, who knew what he could do to them.

"Let the feast begin" the King said breaking up the silence with a smile.
