After Madelyn Pryor leaves the X-Mansion, she finds herself in a dimly lit bar, seeking solace. A man approaches her, mistaking her for Jean Grey, which angers her. Apologizing profusely, he recognizes her as Madelyn Pryor. As she delves into her memories, she identifies him as Sol, a figure from her past.
Sol was the son of a close friend of Charles Xavier and had grown up around Raven (Mystique) and Magneto, spending his teenage years with Jean Grey, Rogue, and others. He had once pursued Jean Grey and learned a lot about human psychology from her. However, feeling out of place as a human in the increasingly mutant-centric environment of the X-Mansion, especially after Scott and Jean's relationship blossomed, Sol left, disappearing from their lives. Unknown to many, he had secretly assisted Jean in escaping a laboratory at one point.
Madelyn, wary of his sudden reappearance, suspects ulterior motives. Sol reassures her it's merely a coincidence. As they share drinks and reminisce, Sol confides that he had harbored unrequited feelings for both Jean and Rogue. Jean had gently rejected him, valuing their friendship, while Rogue declined due to the risk her powers posed to humans. Feeling adrift, Sol had moved to India in search of answers.
"India, huh? I heard it's beautiful this time of year," Madelyn remarks with a tipsy smile. Sol's eyes light up with pride and affection for his homeland. "Yes, it is. You should visit sometime," he replies warmly. They lapse into a comfortable silence, both lost in thought.
Breaking the quiet, Madelyn admits, "You know, I might have liked you back in high school." Surprised, Sol chuckles, "Oh really? I didn't know that. So, if I had stayed, you might have become Mrs. Sol?" Madelyn slaps his arm playfully, "Never." They share a laugh, acknowledging the missed opportunities of their youth.
Realizing it's late, Madelyn prepares to leave and find a place to stay. Sol offers her the extra room in his hotel suite. She hesitates, joking, "What if you take advantage of me?" Sol raises his hands in mock surrender, "I wouldn't dare." With a smirk, Madelyn warns, "I'm telekinetic. I could twist your arms off." Sol laughs, calling her a scary lady as he heads for the door.
Outside, it takes only a block before Madelyn, overwhelmed by the alcohol, becomes woozy and vomits. Sol ends up carrying her on his back to his hotel room, navigating the streets with care, ensuring she is safe and comfortable.
