Test Run!

Bart sat in his bed with Hank and Nemesis running tests on the boy's body.

" Fascinating." Hank exclaimed.

Bart looked up from his seat and looked over at the man. " What is?" Bart asked

" Your body is... Well in a constant state of fast to put it simply. I mean your metabolism is rampant. Healing that would take weeks for a normal person only take few hours for you, hence no burn marks or scars from the bolt of lightning that hit you. But it doesn't stop there your heart rate is pumping at 7,400 pumps per minute. That's 37 times faster than your average meth head." Hank explained.

Bart raised his hand and felt his heart beating through his chest. " Whoa! That's wicked." Bart stated. " Hey, doc what about my speed?" Bart asked.

" Well, it is impressive. Being able to outrun Noriko using her full charge and Laurie who can move at sonic speed is no laughing matter. But I haven't had the chance to properly test you yet. But we will get there soon. Once Nemesis returns, we'll see if we can't get those results. Of course, I highly doubt things like your blood pressure and blood sugar levels would interest you, so I'll just leave those out for now. But one final thing I must bring us is the change to your physical appearance." Hank explained to the boy.

" Huh? What happened to me? Did I turn into some grotesque creature?" Bart asked before looking down at his hand to make sure he still had skin.

Hank looked at the boy and chuckled as he observed the boy looking over his self. " No, it's nothing like that but I'm sure you've noticed the changes in the size of your arms and legs. I mean the pictures taken of you before showed you were a fairly slim boy. But since the accident your body has drastically changed." Hank explained.

Bart listened to the man carefully and began looking at his body closer. " Whoa. Lightning gave me abs?" Bart asked

Hank couldn't help but laugh at the face of the awe-struck boy. " Well, simply put yes. The bolt that struck you Bart put your body in a state of Myostatin-related muscle hypotrophy." Hank explained.

" Ahhh I get it. Me muscle big no try. Am I right?" Bart asked the man

" Yes, that's exactly it." Dr. Nemesis said to the boy as he walked into the medical wing on Utopia.

" Are you ready?" Hank asked the man.

" Yeah, we're ready come on." Nemesis replied

" Hey, wait I get he's the doctor. What do you do?" Bart asked Nemesis.

Nemesis looked over at the kid and smirked. " I make the toys kid. Now, come on." Nemesis told the boy.

" Oooookay." Bart said as he got off the bed, he hoped down and followed Nemesis into the next room.

" Here put this on." Nemesis said as he threw a spandex suit at Bart.

" What is this?" Bart asked as he looked over the black suit.

" It should keep you from burning your clothes off while you run." Nemesis explained to the boy. " Now put it on so we test your speed, kid. You're wasting my time." Nemesis told the boy before walking out of the room.

" Alright." Bart replied. Bart removed his covering and got dressed. " Hm a little snug in the wrong places." Bart stated as he rubbed his crotch.

* BANG BANG BANG! " Hey, come on kid!" Nemesis yelled as he banged on the door.

" Coming!" Bart yelled as he ran out the room.

" Took you long enough. Come on, kid." Nemesis said to Bart.

Bart nodded and followed Nemesis out to the fields of Utopia where the lights and few others had gathered to watch the boy's test.

Bart looked over the faces of the many mutants taking note of every single one of them. The beautiful yet strong red-head Hope, the blue-haired Noriko, the blue-skinned Laurie, Prodigy, Santo, Cyclops, Wolverine, and Emma frost. Though, Bart did drag on once his eyes meet Laurie's.

" Uh-oh I think the new guy likes you, Laurie." Hope joked

" Mr. Allen are you ready?" Hank asked drawing the boy's attention to him.

" Ready!" Bart exclaimed. " What am I ready for?" Bart asked.

Nemesis walked up to the boy and placed a device on his chest. " Simple, you're going to run as fast as you can around the Island and then stop back here. Oh, and kid while it might seem like a fun idea, don't go overboard and stay focused. I'd hate to have to scrape you off the pavement after one test run." Nemesis explained to the boy.

Bart gulped and got down to a runner stance.

" Here we go, Scott." Emma said to the man.

" Here we go." Scott replied.

" On your mark. Get set. GO!" Hank counted down

KRAKOOOM! Bart took off in the blink of an eye his speed trail was gone and returned only moments later.

Hank and the others all watched as the giant monitor showing Bart's speed rapidly increased

KRAKOOOM! The sound of the sound barrier breaking shot throughout the island of Utopia.

" Whoa! He's fast. He's already shattered Quicksilvers top speed. And he's still going. He's actually catching NorthStar." Scott exclaimed.

The entire crowd was amazed at the speeds at which Bart was moving, even Logan stared down at the red blur in disbelief.

" Damn. Kid's bookin it." Logan stated.

A moment Later Bart stopped running and stood in the middle of the field once again trying to catch his breath. " Well? How fast did I go?" Bart asked though he was slightly confused by the looks of shock on everyone's face. " What?" Bart asked. He turned his head to look at the monitor and read the number out loud. " One hundred and eighty-six thousand miles per second. No way. No way. Are you telling me I was running at the speed of light?" Bart asked Hank in disbelief.

" Yes, you did. In one day since you've used your powers you became one of the fastest Mutant alive." Hank explained to the boy.

" Whoa." Bart exclaimed at the notion of being as fast as light.

Up looking down on the boy, Scott was smiling with pride over the future of his race. " What was it you said Logan?" Scott asked the man.

" Slim, I hope this don't blow up in our faces." Logan said to the man before walking away leaving scott behind looking smug.

Emma leaned over and rubbed his back softly. " Scott dear, don't get cocky now. Things are only going to get harder from here on out." Emma explained to the man.

" I know, Emma. But it's hard not to be a little excited with the prospect of our people flourishing once again. After so many setbacks we're finally getting another shot. We can't waste it, Emma. We have to capitalize on this opportunity. Get Hank and the kid in the lab and get him a suit. I want him training with the others immediately." Scott told the woman before walking away to handle other business on Utopia.

Emma sighed and looked out the window and reached out to Hank telepathically and told him what Scott wanted. Hank agreed without hesitation and he as well as Dr. Nemesis both took Bart down to the Labs where the work began.

A few hours later.

" Well, I must admit, you have a certain... Taste" Hank said to Bart as he looked at the boy in his suit.

" I like it." Nemesis stated as he looked on his new creation. " You got a name for yourself kid?"

Bart stepped forward and flexed his hands, taking the time to really adjust to the feel of the suit. " Yeah, I got a name. See back in school the teachers all used one word to describe me. Impulsive. I always acted without thinking and without consideration for others. Soooo Take out the ive and you get the fastest boy alive. IMPULSE!" Bart exclaimed.
