4 Attempt

Bang!

A muffled gunshot sound echoed through the air as it ricocheted to its target. It left a trail of faint green light in its trajectory. It was heading straight for the pillar of the house. If some instructors from military training bases saw this scene unfolding before their eyes. They would have chosen to quit with guns pointed on their foreheads rather than continue teaching. As this was considered an insult to their careers.

In the force everyone is taught to conserve ammo and that every shot counts. Yes, the bullet was heading for the wall.

'Pu!'

The bullet pierced through the concrete wall and continued to make entry. The wall gave way as if it was made out of paper and an initial hole of 4mm radius could be seen.

It was a calculated and precise shot. Graduating from MI6 at the top of her class with first-class honors and a Ph.D. in Engineering and Mathematics. Calculations were like the second version of herself. After her target disappeared through the scope. It took her only some seconds to figure out what was happening. She changed her scope to IR feature and also changed her magazine from the one with normal bullets to Disintegrating Armour Piercing Poison Tracking Bullets. As the name suggests, it did just that. She used the lock feature from her scope as it had already locked on its target and fired the second she changed the magazine.

...

Just before sliding even four feet, I heard the wall in front of me being toned apart by a force too much to be coming from a single point. Then I looked down just in time to a green flash coming from a small hole one could have thought that it was drilled in. It then went directly for my stomach. I groaned and gritted my teeth as waves of pain soared through my body.

I lost my grip on the pole and down I went like a falling eagle. Not caring about the crush, I closed my eyes as a certain euphoria overtook my mind. As they say that you never know what could happen next: a tragedy or a tomorrow.

...

Thud!

Bang!

Two different sounds were heard by Vega at the same time, making her drop the jug of juice that she was holding causing it to shutter near her feet. She turned to see the door landing on the mat after being broken apart from the hinges. Two fully equipped soldiers came in with their guns held high ready to blast anyone who stands in their way.

'What's the meaning of this?' Vega asked.

Only silence greeted her back. She was fuming and now she looked dangerous but at the same time intimidating. The soldiers acted like she was invincible and quickly went to the bathroom. They opened the door and after checking inside only to see the water running. Bravo 1 went back and asked her.

'Where is he?'

'What the hell! In the shower of course.' She was full of rage now and her aura was changing with each passing second.

'Bravo 1, tracking is initializing. It's a hit but I still don't know where he is.' Leah responded over the comms while wiping her forehead where beads of sweat were seen.

'Copy Bravo 6.' Replied Bravo 1.

He then asked Vega to follow her to the bathroom and after closing the faucet he turned to ask her.

'Vega, you have been staying here for the past few weeks, what's missing?'

'The screws to the mirror, probably...' She answered after taking a closer look around the bathroom.

'Mmmh!'

'Jacob..., are you thinking what am thinking.'

Bravo 1 just nodded and went for the mirror. Pulling it out and placing it aside. Two pairs of eyes stared at the hidden door before looking at each other.

'Bravo 1 status report.'

'Control, this is Bravo 1, we have a problem.'

'Bravo 1 define.'

'Control, the target is in the wind. I repeat target out of sight.'

'Negative Bravo team, ISR is picking seven heat signatures at your location including Vega and a third person.'

'Wait, please hold Bravo team.'

'Tracking is live. It's confirmed that he's still in the house.'

'Hurry up and wrap it up, news channels are twelve minutes out.'

'And the higher-ups aren't happy with your approach.'

Then silence followed as the line went dead.
