9 Ailah and The First Kill

At the magnificent eye-catching island, a breathtaking beauty was seen holding a half-full bottle of drinking water. She was still concentrating on the big monitoring screen in front of her showing a live feed of two parties confronting each other in a fierce gunfight.

One party was seen shooting while retreating. As the other party advanced forward.

"Ailah, don't push them any harder than that or they will end up breaking. They are only humans, weaker in every aspect compared to us." Said another sexy lady standing beside her watching the same screen in front of them.

The breathtaking beauty sighed before replying. "I know Kai, it's just that... the opportunity is ripe for the taking, but all they bring us is disappointment. I should have bought the services offered from that private company, at least we would get a refund if they couldn't accomplish the tasks given."

"Go easy on yourself there!" Kai rolled her eyes at Ailah and continued saying. "We couldn't afford them at that time, we had just begun establishing ourselves. Steading our feet on the ground was the number one priority."

"Okay... I am sorry, it's just that I have a lot going on right now. I guess am just tired."

"When was the last time you slept more than four hours? Go and take a nap. I will take over here."

"No... I can't right now. I have to see this through."

"Just as stubborn as always. Know this... I won't forgive myself if my best friend snaps on me because I couldn't take care of her." Kai said with a firm face.

Ailah turned to look at her then wrapped her arms around her waist as they settled for a hug.

"Okay. Will you take care of me after we wrap this up."

"Of course, I will always be here for you. Forever."

Just as they were in each other's embrace. A voice pulled them to reality.

"Big Sis, Director Kai... There has been a development in the operation."

Both of them turned to the voice only to see a young man with shoulder-length hair starring at them.

"Continue." Ailah said impatiently at the young man who was still distracted by their beauty and the fact that they were embracing each other.

He raised his hand to signal some instructions to his workmates and the big monitoring screen in front of them started to zoom out enabling a wider coverage of the neighboring apartments. And some red dots were seen outside an apartment building. They were exactly seven of the red dots surrounded by several white ones. But the most enticing thing is that two white dots were at the center flanked on every side by the red ones.

...

As the two forces went into an all-out battle. The individuals clad in black tactical suits heard a shot being fired from a distance. After making sure they weren't anywhere too exposed that a sniper could take them out. They decided to head in that direction.

They were divided into two fronts but were seen to be keeping the advancing party at bay. The first half advanced forward to their new destination as the rear one battled with Delta Team.

After some time someone contacted the rear team.

"Leader, we have him in sight. What should we do?"

"Do whatever is necessary to get a hold of our target. That's our only priority." Replied the one referred to as 'Leader.'

"Leader, they have pinned him down with no possible way of escaping. We are few in numbers we can't take them all."

"Then come up with something... Damnit, you are such a disappointment." Their Leader sighed heavily before saying again.

"You have four minutes to report back with our target, we can't hold on much longer than that or else we'll be wiped out."

"Copy Leader."

...

As I was about to guide the teenager inside the car, a frown covered my face as I said to no one in particular.

"You really have the guts to place sentries near your position. As a backup plan in case I fail to cooperate with you."

"You have been in the system longer than me but seeing your fallback plan... Sigh! It brings more questions than answers. You are a disgrace to your country." I said again as the thought hit me.

"It's also your country, has been and always will... and what are you talking about! A fallback plan?!" Vega says while looking at Bravo 1 who shook his head slightly.

"They are the ones from earlier. I guess your people survived the crash and are still relentless in rescuing you... We didn't know you could mobilize a strike force within a short period of time."

"But we don't mean any haa..." Vega didn't finish what she was going to say when a force so powerful lashed out and hit her on the chest sending her down on the hard pavement bottoms first.

Just at the right time, I pushed Vega out of the way as the reflection of the scope I had seen only seconds ago turned to focus its muzzle on Vega. It made me think...

'I was their primary objective so it was ethical as it focused on me but seeing the slight change in direction to the less clothed Vega without any body armor. A second party.' That was what came to mind.

'But why are they here?! At the same time am surrounded by soldiers. It can't be a coincidence, can it? 'Cause am sure it isn't my 'Force.' And those gun sounds that have been going on for a while now not far from our position.'

'There's another party who wants to get their hands on me!'

Anger flared up on me once again. I must have been cursed to wake up with a series of unfortunate events following me everywhere.

As Vega was still in motion, falling down. A sniper rifle bullet hit the rear window of the car and stopped there, forming spider cracks all over the glass.

'If I had been a millisecond slower, Vega would be on the ground gasping for the little strand of air she could find. The bullet passed through where she was standing. It would have pierced through the right side of her chest from the back and exited the front. How could they think of killing the woman I have been intimate with not long ago. And while I watch by her side! They are asking for a merciful way to leave this world and I shall grant them.'

The handgun spun out of her hand as she lost grip of it from the shove she received. I grabbed it with precision and pulled the trigger without even aiming properly.

Bang!

The bullet left the muzzle and a small explosion could be seen as it headed in the direction of the first shot fired our way.

Pu!

A body holding a sniper rifle dropped to the ground now devoured of any life. The bullet hit exactly on the forehead leaving a small hole now dripping with blood soaking the facemask.

Wow! That was the reaction of the teenage girl beside me.

I dropped the gun next to the shocked Vega. Seeing the attention now focused on the direction that I fired as all of Bravo Team turned around to defend any second attack. I pushed the teenager in through the drivers' seat then followed her in before locking all the doors.

I opened the front windowpane to look at the now standing Vega holding a handgun with a slightly shocked face and said.

"I expect you to hand over the antidote. You have two minutes." I rolled up the windowpane and put the key in the ignition but I couldn't turn it. Then an automated AI voice came from the dashboard.
