Safe travels

The airport was packed and even when the airconditioning is on, it still feels humid. The long lines on each of the terminals are unavoidable. Each passengers queued have a look that's tired, bored, pissed or just plain nothing.

After we checked our luggage, we went to the airline lounge and walk around until our feet can't hold us anymore! Waiting to board our plane can be tiring so in the end, we just sat down and have a cuppa.

"Skye, you think Nan and your Mom will be alright while we're away?" I asked worried.

"Wynter, we're going on a holiday, settle your nerves and loosen up a bit! They will be ok until we come home." she assures me.

"So, what's the plan when we land in Oz?" I asked.

"I'm so glad you asked, well we're staying in Ridges hotel which is just across the airport in Sydney for the night then we're going to take the bus in the morning to my aunt's house in Bondi. Last time I spoke to her she said they live near a beach, so I hope you packed your swimmers. My cousins said they have nice life guards there..." she waggled her brows at me, then elbowed me.

"Geez Skye, you're shameless! Waggling your brows at me at the mention of men, You of all people should be cautious of them because of your mom's experience!" I said to her sternly.

"Ha, what else is there to look out and be excited about for when you're in the beach? Freaking sharks, for sure! And I'm not my Mom, she knows how to pick 'em.. shark men for sure!" then she rolled her eyes at me!

I laughed at her then we settled in our seat for a while, waiting to board.

Not far from our seat there was a guy seating across us watching our interactions.

I only just noticed him because Skye pointed it out.

"Wynter, don't look now but there's a guy from across us wearing a black hoody looking at us, he's been watching us since we sat here" she said sort of excited. She's always overly excited at this kinds of things anyway.

I looked after couple of minutes just so not to be obvious, and when I look up, our eyes met, he was looking at me directly. And like a deer in front of an oncoming car headlights I cower and looked away.

The guy have a brooding look on him but what I can't shake off is how I felt when we had a connection for couple of seconds. I'm used to people looking at me as I'm very easy on the eyes too. But this one is different and how, is a puzzle to me. I turned my attention to Skye.

"Hey Skye, is Mr. Broody still looking at us?" I asked.

Skye looked at me a bit confused then it's like there is a light bulb that just turned on, she looked up, then across and around.

" Nope, he's not there anymore." she said.

I was a bit disappointed thinking I should have stared back longer or plainly smiled at him. I looked around wondering where he might have gone. What was I thinking of looking for that guy! Smiling at someone I don't know, worst of all, a stranger and in an airport!

To think about it, I think I'm losing it. I tried to calm my nerves and counted to 50, did a breathing exercise then backwards to 1. Suddenly, the airline is already calling our flight and its time to board.

After we found our seats, we settled down and I put my headphones on, listening to my playlist. The flight is long and the seats are a bit uncomfortable but before I knew it, I dose off to dream land.
