5 The First Quest

Current head of Gremory House, Zeoticus Gremory was feared warrior on battlefield, influental man in politics but now he was cornered by four year old girl. HOWEVER, little girl was not unarmed! She wielded world ending armament: THE PUPPY EYES!

"Why Ar-nii-sama doesn't want to spend time with Ria? Did Ria do something wrong? Ar-nii-sama doesn't love Ria anymore?" asked almost crying little girl while sitting on her father's lap.

"No. Big brother loves you very much." Said her father gently, trying to comfront his daughter.

Thinking about his second son, Zeoticus can't help but smile wryly. True, Argres is excellent child, but he is too smart for his own good. It is not like he didn't understand his son's intentions and Zeoticus has to admit if he had older brother as excellent as Argres, he too will develop severe inferiority complex. Said brother being close to him or not doesn't metter, Argres just makes others of his age feel inferior with just that mere glance. Truly fearsome child.

But honestly at this age he should be enjoying his childhood for Satan's sake! But no, when he was two years old, he get hold of some book from who knows where. From then on Argrel found studying more productive than playing. Zeoticus will say in his defence 'it can't be helped since he was too mature for children of his age', but still that didn't change the fact his child has no friend of his age.

He does act like child when there is only family members though. Argres is just too wary or too proud to acknowledge when it comes to those he considers 'outsider'. Even maids didn't escape from such treatment.

"Then why is Ar-nii-sama ignoring me?" then voice of his teary eyed daughter brought him out of his thought.

"Big brother just wants to protect Ria. You see, sweetie, Ar-nii-chan is heir of this House, so he have to become strong and capable to protect Ria and everyone in this Family. This is resposibility of heir. So Ar is trying his best to learn more and training to become strong." He couldn't help but sigh as he said this.

"But Ria wants to protect onii-sama too!" Rias stubbornly protested.

"That's right. Ria too have to protect Ar. Big brother must be lonely after all." said Zeoticus with gentle smile.

"But why is big brother lonely? Everyone in play date likes Ar-nii-sama you know?" Rias asked curiously while tilting her head cutely. She geniunely didn't understand. Her Ar-onii-sama is smartest, stronges, fastest. So everyone must be glad to become his friend.

"You see Ria, friend is a person someone who is equal to you. Do you know someone who can be equal to your big brother?"

"Of course not, it is Ar-nii-sama after all. He is the best!" Rias answered her father's question with pride.

"Then how is he going to make friends?" when Rias heard this she was startled.

She knew during play dates there was no one appraoches her older brother. Everyone looks at him with admiration, adoration and envy. But no one tries to talk to him, since he is THE best. Some will be too afraid to come close to him, some will not let others approach him but everyone tries to learn from him one way or another.

"So Ar-nii-sama is lonely." Rias came to sudden realization. Even she herself was afraid to approach him, because she felt inferior. In past Argres will come to play together, but she always just followed what Argres said.

"Ria doesn't want Ar-onii-sama to be lonely!" Rias said almost crying. She blamed herself for not noticing when her dear older brother was lonely.

'It must be painful.' Rias thought. She now understood Argres is not someone superior to her, he is her older brother, her family. So she must protect him.

"If no one is going to become his friend, Ria will accompany Ar-nii-sama." crimson haired girl came to decision.

"You have do your best, then." Zeoticus smiled warmly at his daughter.

"Um, Ria will do her best! Ria will help Ar-nii-sama!" Rias was now determined to be beside her beloved older brother. So she wasted no time as she ran off to find her older brother.

Seeing new-found determination in eyes of little girl Zeoticus can't help but feel little proud. But at the same time lamented at how his children growing up quickly.

However, he didn't know that he had changed destiny of the whole World.

"I want to help Ar-nii-sama! So please teach Ria! Please don't ignore Ria! Please let Ria accompany you..." saying so Rias started to tear up.

When Argres heard what Rias said he froze on spot for instant. This was unexpected situation to him. He imagined many kind of possiblities but he never expected his little sister to ask this from him.

Looking at her shining eyes he can see desire to walk beside him. Not to chase after him, not to surpass him, but desire to be beside him. To be there when he needed help, to support him when he was down, to congratulate when he succeed.

When he looked at her, Argres didn't see shadow of Emily on her anymore. And he felt libirated, like something that was burdening him was lifted. He felt… complete.

"Come here!" said Argres as he too teared up a little.

"Ar-nii-sama!" Rias tackled him as she hugged Argres tightly.

Looking at two of them from window Zeoticus and Venelana felt proud as parents. After all, it was their plan to get best possible out-come. As expected, Devils are manipulative by nature. But it seems not so bad trait, not bad at all.

It has been five years since then. As per her request Argres educated Rias thoroughly. He even asked advise from UTS when he was educating her.

Argres personally taught her etiquette, politics, business, history even some psychology. And young brain of Rias absorbed knowledge like sponge. But she managed to keep her own independent opinion and they went into many argument regarding some subjects, specially psychology they just can't come to common ground.

Now she will never be Rias Gremory who was optimistic to the point of being naïve he knew from anime. Instead now she is graceful, level-headed, proper noble young lady. She is still cheerful and energetic girl though. Compared to anime counter-part Rias is much more controlled and good at hiding her emotions under her ever present smile.

Incidentally marriage talk between Gremory and Phenex never happaned. But Argres intented to make connection with Phenex House. He become very interested in Ravel Phenex when he was monitoring Devils of his age. She was very talented child. And Riser never developed his infamous arrogant attitude, maybe it was because of his presence Riser never had chance to develop it.

So he is planning to get Ravel in his peerage as Bishop or Queen. She looks competent enough to manage peerage in his stead when it is necessary so having her as Queen is good, but he have gut feeling he will not find his Queen from Underworld.

Anyway, she is the only person Argres considered befriending besides Sona. But Sona and Rias hit-off very well even in this time line, so he decided to leave them alone. Maybe it is what they call destiny.

That aside, there is many benefit from recruiting Ravel, since she is capable, talented and rational person. And forming connection with Phenex House in meantime seems shooting more than two bird with one stone in his opinion.

If Ravel wants to, Argres can train her to be stronger than she will ever be in novel. Having blood of pheonix is no laughting matter, she just didn't get right training. Generally speaking power of many things have been nerfed in this world. If not, that Barbarian(Issei) will not survive even single day in supernatural world.

That aside, young heir of Gremory is currently in predictment. He is trying to find a way to save nekoshou siblings, but he has no idea where is the laboratory that was mentioned in anime.

'Where is my protagonist luck that summons space crack that will teleport me to that damned laboratory?' Argres can't help but complain.

Every main and branch family of Naberius House has been under Gremory's watch for years. Even without Argres' interference his parents and brother knew Naberius House is cooking up something but they can't find concrete proof.

'Annoying old foxes.' Thought Argres in annoyance. Those old coots of Naberius House really done great job erasing their trails. Argres can smell their plot from miles away but he can't just waltz into Naberius territory. And his innate transformation ability is yet to awaken. If not he would have turned Naberius territory upside down to find that accursed laboratory while not being suspected.

His innate transformation ability is different from transformation magic that he has been subconsciously using until now. When devils transformes using magic it leaves trace of demonic power no matter how well their disguise was. However if Argres uses his innate ability, no one will be able to recognize him no matter what kind of means they used. So he can go around in form of Michael and that would even fool that 'Man'(Biblical God).

Leaving that aside, Argres has to find lead as soon as possible. He didn't want to lose chance to get Bishop and Rook with great potential like nekoshou siblings for Rias' peerage. Koroka and Shirone might be great Bishop and Rook but he has no intention to take them in his peerage as he didn't have much of intrerest in siblings. However, he planned to get Asia for himself(not romantically), she can be more that just Healer under him, so he is going to get her. It can be said he is giving up on Kuroka in order to get Asia in future.

Reason? When he gave UTS 'Desired Result: Second user of Healing Magic' one of possiblities was Asia's Twilight Healing have high chance to evolve when it come to contact with his special mana from Healing Magic. So she can be second Healing Magic user of this world.

If Argres gets his hands on her, he has many ideas to draw out as much potential as he can from her. If she didn't get Healing Magic? He can just keep her as healer and summoner, but her value will significantly drop.

'I sounds like calculative as*hole, don't I? Well, better than being naïve, I suppose.'

And he has one year to prepare to save Akeno and her mother. If he managed to save them then Gremory House will have some advantage over others when talk about peace treaty comes. After all Baraqiel has considerate amount of influence as one of leaders of Grigori. If he owe Gremory House life of his family then it is good. If Rias managed to scout Akeno then it is even better.

Even if Sirzechs have connection with Azazel, technically speaking he is not member of Gremory House. He is Lucifer, so his connection with Azazel won't change standing of Gremory House as whole.

After racking his brain for almost hour Argres gave up and decided to train his body. During past few years his body broke limit of his age, evolved to bear burden of intense training. Now he can train like insane without worry of ruining his body as long as he used Healing Magic on himself.

So training he did. 100 push-ups 100 sit-ups, 100 squats and 10 kilometer running has become warm-up. Fortunately he didn't lose hair.

And more active his body was faster his cells accustomed to Power of Destruction, now he can use it more freely but not enough to use in combat. He decided to start combat training after dealing with Naberius House.
