The Beginning Of An End

Prologue

5th January 2022

9:30 AM

In the city of Metro Manila. A virus thrives here. The virus is spreading, a plague grows stronger every day and it is killing people faster than ever before. People suffer to find food, but they die before they can eat. The only things left are disease and death.

It was a living nightmare.

The news report says that flowers bloom out of their bodies like fungi that could reserve an entire garden for anyone who dies with the virus. Leafy red and pink blossoms popped over their bodies like fireworks.

Sickly yellow blooms the size of pumpkins grew from some, while others had white petals that looked more like moths' wings than flower petals. Scientists were baffled by the news report, and there was no additional information on what caused the flowers to grow from the bodies of the infected.

There were theories about an outbreak, one of the many conspiracies that was being spewed around in several places. People all over the world were claiming that the government was hiding something from their people, something weird and supernatural.

People claimed to have seen infected people carrying guns that can be find only in other worlds. But no matter how crazy theories about the virus and infected people were, there was nothing to back them up.

The virus they were saying did not exist was just a hoax to cover up the true cause of their deaths. The virus, they said, was just an excuse to control the population more thoroughly.

Their first stop will be Metro Manila and other major cities of the Philippines. Then, it would not be long until the entire world fell into their hands for the New World Order.

Or the CDC could've been planning a conspiracy to cause many more deaths than the Spanish Flu epidemic did. Or was this just a ploy for them to take control of my and other people's freedom and privacy? One of the twins believed in the conspiracy theories because it made so much sense, but the other remained very skeptical.

One man and one woman were delusional in their obsession, taking great care to always dress in matching outfits and knowing every secret about each other. They were convinced that being twins would be the ultimate prize and made unlimited efforts to convince everyone else.

One wearing a neon green hoodie jacket and forest camo pants. The jacket has two cartoonish eyes and a smile sewn into the hem, each side connected from left to right to make a wacky, toothy grin.

He had a silver wallet chain draped over his right thigh and was drinking a Monster energy drink with a black-red branded cigarette burning in an ashtray resting on his left thigh.

He also wore cyan-colored contacts, his black hair pulled back behind his ears, one piercing on each side of his lower lip, and rabbit-ear piercings in his tongue.

He was hyperactive today. His name was Klei and he was wearing three brands of drug packets on his belt, with two different markers tucked into the back of each pants pocket. He had twenty-five different types of stimulants inside him, especially Prozac and amphetamines.

He currently suffered from an undiagnosed case of ADHD, bipolar disorder, an addiction disorder and other conditions he didn't know about. It's not surprising that he was experiencing a psychotic episode that made him euphoric. He had eaten the wrong combination of foods for his sugar blood level; that and the sugar in the carbonated drink had added up to way too much sugar in his blood. And his name was Klei.

He wore running shoes that were black with neon green laces. His obsession with the humming feeling of a stimulating drug that made one feel new and clean filled his head.

He had an addiction to a high state of being that came from the feeling of contentment and ease, a human feeling that was amplified by the negative ions infatuated in the drug. He understood his own health and state of mind easier than anyone else, and which made him act rather insane in public.

Only marijuana offered him a voice, an explanation, and a solution to the madness he was experiencing without it. It made him feel normal, relaxed, carefree. It gave him peace of mind if only for a few hours. He didn't get high on marijuana, he said to himself, or on any other drug. He was aware of its effects and knew when he had taken enough so he could return to normal life without tipsiness or disruption.

He used to be an intelligent top student and scholar in his school every year. He was charismatic, charming, brilliant, and full of life with a creative and intuitive writing style that turned his hobby into a freelance profession.

Klei was known to be the best student out there that won any type of contest that only used the game of the mind. He was a good kid, compassionate, empathic, honest, and everything positive about him.

But at home, he kept being abused by his father. His mother was an alcoholic who never stopped drinking light beer and light cigarettes. His home was a complete mess that made him traumatised enough to run away from home from the province of Pampanga to Metro Manila before the epidemic happened.

Sadly, he failed many attempts to run away from home. Otherwise, he would have been beaten up by his father. So, he murdered both of them. Went insane and left for Metro Manila, bringing nothing but his favourite hoodie that he bought for himself for his birthday that one time.

Because his parents never loved him and as for him being nothing but an accident from his parents, always never received a single gift from both of them in his whole life, every birthday.

Gone insane, he fled and went to look for a home. But he found no one but someone by the name of Sakura.

Sakura, wearing a crimson red sweater and a desert brown camouflage mini-skirt, wearing black running shoes where their secondary colour was bright pink. Neon green and black striped stockings on her left leg and crimson red and black striped stockings on her right leg. Brown leather gloves and ash silver hair.

And also wears neon yellow contact lenses. She had tattoos all over her thighs supposedly inspired by Harley Quinn and the Joker from the DC Comics but not the same characters but similar concepts.

The playing cards and the hysterical laughing words and characters remind her of her partner in crime, Klei.

Her mentality is the same as Klei, hyperactive, energetic, and frantic. However, she is mainly sedated by Zoloft, the sibling of Prozac. She's always taking opiate painkillers due to her relentless migraines back then but has gone addicted to them.

Zoloft is the same as Prozac. Both are the only antidepressants that give a high intoxicating feeling, AKA "Happy Pills" or "Wonder Drugs." They are their medications and the only drugs that help them cope with their insanity.

However, the difference between Zoloft and Prozac is that Prozac is stimulating and provides dopamine as Zoloft, while Zoloft is sedating, which also provides dopamine as Prozac.

Despite Klei being hyperactive due to his addiction to stimulants, Sakura would usually take sedating drugs that help her calm down and don't take caffeine at all but love the taste of her favourite soda. Which is the only thing that gave her energy, which was Mountain Dew. Mountain Dew and Monster sounds like not much of a good mix unless you want to go psycho-mode, right?

In the grey mist of the city, Sakura walked alone into a windy alleyway. The dim horizon turned to twilight, and everything grew dark before her eyes. The rotted wet bricks turned into a starry chaos of colors, swirling into her mind and making her shudder with silence.

She looked up at the silent sky to see that she had devoured the moon like a werewolf, for it was missing from its usual place in the night. Then she remembered something about how Klei had shook her awake in the morning and said something about how she had eaten his face..? What was really going on? Who was this girl?

Sakura's backstory here is still unknown, even to herself. Because what makes her so different from Klei is that she's basically a dissociative, split personality from her original host. That had died a long time ago, ever since she met Klei and lived together ever since.

Her brand-new character made everything about her forget her genuine and real memories. Creating a new complex identity that is extremely unstable, only if she gets hyper.

The only thing that makes her hyper is not just Mountain Dew. Mountain Dew just makes her extremely unstable for a short time, for around 5-15 minutes. However, if she takes marijuana, she would go on a psychotic spree, going manic and hyperactive until it wears off, depending on how much she smokes.

They've always been together because they've been able to understand each other without asking, but they've never been brave enough to speak to each other, which has left them very close best friends with benefits.

"My parents never abused me. They were always kind, generous individuals. It's actually me who forced them to slit their wrists in the bathtub." had always been Klei's subconscious thoughts, but he was never aware of it.

He imagined the entire thing and just ran off to the city. Not only he's a sociopath but also a delusional schizophrenic. Both he and Sakura are equally clinically insane.

The best thing they both have in common is how they both enjoy their insanity. While the rest of the patients in the world. Whether aware or not, they don't want their mental conditions because they ruined their lives.

But Klei was a former narcissist who changed his mindset due to his retreat from home. Gained a new entire personality that made him forget all about it consciously, but deep inside, he sure as hell he remembers it. But he only remembers it through dreams, and those dreams he had about his past were what really happened.

He gets them as nightmares about how he knows how abusive he was towards his parents and wakes up the following day realising it never happened, but in fact… it did.

But when Klei asks Sakura about her past, she just breaks down, snap, or probably even shuts down into a catatonic state of altered consciousness for an entire day.
