2 Chapter 1

ERIN

"Young miss, it's time to prepare for school."

I groaned and abruptly sat on my bed causing me to feel dizzy.

"Young miss ---"

"I'm awake, Maris. Shut the hell up already before I feed you to Bleak!" I cut off what my personal maid would say and got up from bed before I was tempted to go back and sleep again.

I went into my walk-in closet and picked up my newly bought towel.

When I came out she was already in my room, fixing my bed.

I sighed. "Maris, how many times have I told you I can fix my OWN bed?" I asked her, annoyed.

"Many times, young miss. But this is my job. To serve you. Your father pays me a lot for this work. So don't take my job away from me," she replied while still busy with my beddings.

I just frowned and went into the bathroom before we would have another long argument that could last all day.

Maris had been working for me for several months now. She was only two years older than me so we became close.

I would not have accepted her as my personal maid because hello! I am eighteen! But for my father, I was only five years old and still needed care.

And speaking of daddy, I know he left early this morning.

He did not want to be late in his work as general of Casa Del Crea- our world.

I never met my mom. Dad said she died after giving birth to me.

Who wouldn’t when you gave birth to a burning baby. Literally on fire.

My father held the fire element. And my mother could sense emotions and even manipulate it. She was an empath.

I grew up with my father teaching me how to control fire.

And now, I'm a master of it.

When I finished bathing, I just put on a simple signature blouse and ripped jeans that I paired with sneakers.

And I'm off to go to Crea Academia!

WHEN the car stopped in front of the academy, I could see my friends- Derene and Lucy, already waiting for me. Lusianna is really Lu's real name but she gets mad when she’s being called that. She said it’s too long and old-fashioned. Also, it sounded weird to her.

When I got down, they immediately approached me and made our greetings.

I looked at what they were wearing. Derene's wearing a tee and a long skirt. While Lucy's in her usual get-up: a red dress hugging her body.

"What's with the sneakers, bitch?" Lucy asked me a steady question.

I scowled at her. "I have lots to do in the student council later. So I need to move comfortably. And this is where I'm comfortable with." I am the vice president of the student council. And since the scary president’s not here, I was expected to do his work unattended duties.

"Good answer, Erin," Derene laughed, "By the way, do you have any news on the other elites?" she asked as we started walking.

We were elites. Being part of elites was the highest rank a student of the academy could reach. In other words, elite students were superior, could master his / her powers, a powerful one.

Second to the elites were the middies. Those students who belong here were neither weak nor powerful either. They were in the middle of the two ranks.

Lastly, the pawns. They’re the weakest in the hierarchy of students. They were the ones who were trained hard to get to the next level.

So far, there were only nine of us in the group. And what we call the big five in the group, including the council president, is outside the academy because of a mission. They have also been out for six months.

The kingdom of Crea sometimes sends us to missions in order to hone our skills and be more powerful. We elites came from prominent families as well as some of us were children of Gods and Goddesses. And it’s expected for us to be powerful and superior just like them.

We were approaching the cafeteria when Derene stopped.

"What's wrong, Rene?" Lu and I asked at the same time.

When she looked at us, her eyes were white. She saw someone in trouble again.

"The nerd. She's in trouble again."

Lu and I looked into each other. I think we knew who.

Rain Seforza was a transferee here six months ago. And as what the other students did to those who were new here and oddly-looking, they tried to make fun of her. Not to mention that she's in the lowest rank- the Pawn. And if we ask who were doing things to her, she just shook her head and then looked at the ground.

I never heard her speak nor complain. And whenever I used my ability to see her emotions, I always got nothing. It’s as if I was just looking at some black hole that was so deep and I was drowning.

We found her at the back of the academy with a lot of glitters all over her body.

She looked like a fairy because of the glitters. She's in her usual attire- black shirt, black pants, black shoes and also a black cloak covering her face with almost only her eyes visible.

I immediately approached her and made her stand.

"What happened?" I asked worriedly.

She just bent her head down and shook.

I just sighed.

I turned to Lucy. "Lu?"

Lu rolled her eyes and raised her left hand. And suddenly, all the glitters on Rain's body disappeared.

"Even if you don't tell us who did it to you, at least try to defend yourself. They've been doing this to you for six months but you still don't resist. If Derene doesn't see what's happening to you, you might be damned the next time, "Lucy told her.

Derene tapped her shoulders. "We're just concerned about you, Rain. The students here are naughty. But they know when to stop. Just give them an example so that they can stop what they are doing to you," Derene said gently.

I smiled. Derene and Serenity were the angels in our group. Even their smiles were contagious. Whenever they're around, anyone close to them feels better.

I was shocked when I felt Rain’s sadness for the first time. And even if we couldn’t see her face, she’s crying.

Rain Seforza is crying.

"T-thank you."

I got shocked even more by her voice. She had such a sweet voice.

And we were beyond shocked when the soil where she’s standing, slowly showed flowers in their full bloom.
