15 Chapter 14

RAIN

WHEN Storm and I finally got through the portal, he held my right hand tightly.

All I could see was pure darkness. There's not even a speck of light present in the place.

"Don't ever think of pulling your hand. Let's stick together."

Even though he could not see me, I nodded.

Eventually the surroundings lit up because of the fire coming from Storm's right palm.

As the light spreads, I gradually saw the surroundings. There's nothing to see except for an endless tunnel ahead. We just followed the road until we could see a light.

"I got a bad feeling about this."

I agreed with what he said.

Ahead of us were two paths leading on opposite directions with different appearances.

One's covered with red grasses and a golden never-ending pathway. The other looked gray because of the scattered white and black colors.

"Let's try the left path," I said and pulled him towards the road with red and gold spectra.

As soon as I stepped on the ground of pure gold, all my body hair stood on ends.

"This is really bad," I whispered softly.

Even before I could step make a step towards the end of the road, I heard roaring sounds just behind us.

Storm turned back from where we came from and there, ten pairs of red burning eyes stared back at us.

"Wolves," alerted my companion.

We positioned ourselves into a fighting stance and readied at the attack.

Even though I didn't want to hurt the animals because Sere liked them, I kicked the wolf approaching me but not that hard to kill it. It groaned in pain as it bumped with the other two wolves and knocked them down. Storm used his power of death but I stopped him.

"Let's not kill them, Riel. Sere might know about it. "

Before he nodded he smiled at what I called him. "Of course, Nana."

With the use of my lighting and indestructible vines, I made a trap to set them inside.

When I did that, I looked at our hands.

"Fits perfectly, right?" Said Storm who was also looking at our hands.

I let go of his hand only to hold his again. But this time, I intertwined mine on his.

I felt his hand tightened so I looked up at him.

"Whatever happens, don't ever let go of my hand. You're my hope now. You are the only reason why I want to stay in this world. You made me alive again."

I softly smiled at him and squeezed his hand back. "I will. Just promise me we will come out together, okay? Don’t ever let your emotions take over you or else I'll be going out alone."

He nodded.

We turned our backs to continue with the journey on the two roads but what awaited us were not the roads. What replaced those roads was a statue of a man.

"Chaos."

I quickly turned to Storm.

Chaos is his father. The father he told me he never wanted to have becuase of his cruelty. The father who never treated him like a son. The father whom he loathed to the core.

"Why is it here?" I asked in astonishment.

"This is a test."

"A test of what?" I asked confused at what he was pointing out.

"Whoever made this portal had made sure that whoever enters this will surpass all the challenges inside."

That's why. That's why when we entered earlier I felt different. I could feel a lot of dimensions. Which means there were so many portals inside the huge portal we entered. And this place, was the third portal we entered.

Even before we could find the answer to why that statue there was another one that appeared. And then another. Until my father's statue appeared.

"These are our parents," I heard him say next to me.

I nodded.

"That only means one thing. They were the ones who created these portals," I concluded, "They made sure no one would pass the tests and get the stones."

Those stones, I wonder what they looked like and what they were really capable of doing.

It's too complicated.

"They were the ones who broke the stone. They split it in half and gave one to each other. But-"

"That's the reason behind those two paths," I interrupted what he would say, "And that means only one person can enter a road."

"But we have to know why they created those stones."

"Or were they the ones who created it?"

He thought deeply about what I said.

"You have a point. Maybe they just tried to destroy it. But they didn't succeed."

Before I could answer, a hologram appeared in front of us.

There we saw how the stone was created.

The divine being, the creator of the chief gods created the stone to maintain peace in his creations.

My parents were created and Storm's, too. And because of faith and the prophecy the divine creator made himself, they met each other and fell in love with their opposite gods. I saw how my parents met. I saw how much my father loved my mother that he tried to leave his position being a chief god. I saw how other gods made my mother left and created havoc in all realms. I saw how she and Storm's father created war and chaos between creatures. I saw how father and Storm's mother balanced the two. And they had us. And then the images disappeared. And a blinding ball of white fire spoke.

"Go and find out yourselves what happened next. Only in the hands of the next rulers will the answers be found and peace once again be made."

After you speak, it disappears like a bubble.

I turned to my companion. Only to find out, I was alone.

The feel of his hand was still there. But I couldn't find him everywhere.

"Riel!" I called out. But no response.

My fears began to rise. My parents. My siblings. Sapphire. And now Storm. They all left me behind. I let them leave me. The people who promised me they'll not leave me alone were gone. I'm all by myself again. Alone in this unknown place. Without nothing around but pure silence in this gold and reddish place.

I cried.

Why is everybody leaving me behind? Why did they give me promises that they broke in the end? Even Storm. A while ago, he even promised that I would not let him go. But it turned out, he was the one who would leave me.

"Liar."

They were all liars.
