Chapter One : The Facility

CLICK!

The rustling of papers echoed across the office as a bald man with pot belly glanced through the documents, his thin framed glasses threatening to fall from the bridge of his nose.

CLICK!

Another click as he looked up to see the slim dark woman in a navy blue suit who was rocking a clean skin cut, her smooth spotless head gleaming under the light rays of the only fluorescent bulb in the small room.

The pot belly man snorted while standing up indignantly, he lighted a cigarette and took a long suck.

He nodded to the guard who was stationed as he quickly stepped aside, puffing out smoke like an old chimney while escorting the woman out of his office. Her assistant, a pale white thin man who seemed to have never seen the sun and would have been mistaken for a vampire if he was born in the 15th century, walked by her side. By the way, this was year 2085 so that wouldn't fly anymore as unreal; he could be one.

He continued walking forward as the woman and her assistant followed from behind.

He noticed that the pale white man kept on lowering his head when he was about to walk past a fluorescent light.

"Is he human?"

He asked the skin head lady as she continued walking with firm but majestic strides.

"As real as they can be " she replied with a smile as she flashed him her white pearl teeths before chuckling lightly.

He snorted for the second time this hour, ever since they came into his facility, he had been lightly irritated by their presence.

"You know what we do here right ? We keep the most evil of them all in here.....and you're about to take the number one evil man on the planet. ...I mean this guy shouldn't even be existing with the crimes he committed. " he said as the guard placed his card over an electronic gate that beeped twice before letting them through.

"Yeah, he doesn't officially exist." The woman quickly chipped in, which he swiftly ignored.

He kept on ranting until they began to walk through a wide corridor. There were doors by the side, numbering from 200 downwards.

They walked past numerous doors as some of the occupants rushed out and banged against the thick plastic. The transparent front showing their screaming faces, but no sounds were heard.

"Fully insulated, blocks all sound,.....not even an echoer can pass through it." He said with a wide smug as he walked proudly, his 'pregnant' stomach bouncing lightly.

"Impressive " the dark skinned head lady said.

He smiled smugly at her as he turned to comment

"I know right, state of the art facilities."

"I'm talking about your stomach" She said as they both stared at his slightly bouncing stomach.

Her assistant reflexively jumped away from a door as some slimy tentacles slammed against the door.

"Besides you can't hear the sounds, doesn't mean there isn't any. He can." She pointed to her assistant who slowly lowered his head under her gaze.

The Chief officer and his guard laughed at the poor man's plight as his boss calmed him down and softly rubbed his head. They both raised an eyebrow at such gesture and behaviour but said nothing as they walked into an elevator.

"This ride will take us at least five minutes. .....five minutes downwards" He said as the four walled transparent elevator box, plunged down immediately, faster than a coffin been lowered into the grave.

"How many stories beneath us ?" The woman asked as her hand kept stroking the top of her assistant head, as her gesture soothed and calmed him down.

"We don't tell!" The chief said, his voice louder than usual.

Few minutes later and they were at the bottom of the prison facility.

"What happens if there's a problem here ?" The pale white man asked as he stared at the arena painted white with ten metal cubicles suspended from the ceiling. The ceiling was so high up that one wonder how many ladders lined up on each other would take to reach the top.

"They all die." The man said calmly and disinterested as he stared at each metal cubicle, hoping that they were all secured and no inmate was out of it. The red lights in the hall flashing around wildly and continously.

'You can't be so sure, even if you have the best prison facility on earth and one of the best in the world.

"Which number is he ?" The skin head woman asked as she began to walk closer to the cubicles all suspended horizontally close to one another.

"Miss Queen, I suggest you step back; not all are humans" the pot bellied chief said as he stared around warily. He wasn't the only one that was on alert as the escort guard gripped the stock of his laser gun firmly as he slowly pressed the safety button off with his index finger.

Few seconds later and they both breathed a sigh of relief as the beaming flashing red lights turned green.

"What was that ?" Queen asked as she stared around her warily, her assistant by her side like a loyal dog.

"The breakout security check turned green, which means none of the cubicles are empty." The fat man replied as he tapped his left arm, a hologram appearing instantly.

"And what happens when it doesn't turn green ?" She asked as she tapped her feet twice. Instantly her assistant dropped to his knees and opened his briefcase, pulling out some materials quickly.

"It would simply mean that we would all be dead men."

"Dead men ?"

"Yeah, either the prisoner that escapes kills us or the facility kills us. .....you see Miss Queen, this facility has been built in a way that if there's any escape of a prisoner from it, it completely sinks into the ground."

"Taking everyone with it, including you and I ?" She asks completely baffled.

"Yes. And I'm pretty sure you know what the ground is made of ?" He asked while walking towards the last cubicle along the line.

"Yeah...we are sitting on ice....and water underneath." She replied as a pink collar was placed softly in her palms.

"Good." The chief warden nodded his head as he stood infront of a cubicle, towering over him at least 10ft.

"So what now ?" She asked as she walked towards him, her assistant by her side and the guard still standing at the entrance of the elevator.

"Here's your boy" He said softly, his voice hoarse and cold as the mechanical sounds of the door clicking open echoed across the vast hall. Slowly it opened as chilled air within seeped out.
