4 Chapter 3: Time To Get A Job!

Recap:

"I still haven't asked for your name. I'm Asahina Muyuki."

"I-I'm name M-Minaki A-Ayashi."

"That's a wonderful name~"

"Thank you."

After eating we head out.

This is where it begins. My goal of raising this child.

We walk hand in hand as we headed back to the inn. I stared up at the sunset.

'Harem candidate 1 accomplished.'

------------------

I stared down at my empty wallet where flies literally could come out of.

I try to remain calm in front of Minaki.

But

.

.

.

I'm broke! I need a job pronto! How threw me in here with no job. No money. No home.

And my goal is to care for children, basically anyone who feels unneeded.

I really want to open up a daycare again but I need money to do it.

We walk around the city aimlessly.

How to get money quickly....

I stare at a bill board.

'Become a prostitute at brothel Cenar~'

I cough dryly. I wouldn't stoop that low even if I was this desperate. No way! Anything else that I could do? Enough to support two people at least.

I look at the list of job available:

Chef, Dancer, Waiter, Servant, Dog Carer.

But one caught my eyes.

'Adventurer.'

But I am as weak as a potato! But the cash I could get.

The endless possibilities! (ಥ﹏ಥ)

The money! [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°̲̅)̲̅$̲̅]

How am I meant to beat up things I don't even know of though.

I look down at the child who was staring at me adorably.

I turn around and clutch at my heart.

The, the meng! Stop selling this Laozi meng. I know you are hungry but I can't handle this level of cuteness!

Fine I'll go. Let's do this damn thing! I should also do a side job. I grab the waiter job request flyer too as I head to the guild designated on the piece of parchment paper.

----------

As I enter the guild, there is a bar counter and a shelf full of alcohol in front which means that they operate a bar too. There was five floors!?

I felt a tug at my sleeve.

I chuckle and bend down.

"What is it Mimi?"

He blushes cutely at the nickname before responding to me in a meek place.

"I-It's so b-big. I-I'm a l-little scared. Can y-you carry m-me?"

I let out a breathy chuckle.

"Of course."

I gently pick him up and head towards the counter where there was a long line.

I sigh, it's going to be a long wait.

I turn to the child in my arms. Smiling at him as I gently rock him before speaking to him.

"Okay. I think I have a good joke!"

He stares at me excitedly. It was cute beyond words.

"I wanna hear!"

He squirms excitedly in my arms, showing his dimpled and brilliant smile.

Only making my own grow in response.

"Calm down a little there buddy! Okay, how do you make a tissue dance?"

He looks puzzled before shaking his head siganlling he doesn't know.

"You put a little boogie in it."

"Yucky! That's so childish and your not even my age!"

"Oh come on you are so picky prince Mimi."

He pouts as I pow slightly imitating the tone of a surbordinate.

"Fine if I'm childish what do you call a childish churro?"

"I already know it won't be good! Haha"

"Immachurro."

I start giggling at my own joke. He does the same.

--------------

The duo's giggle softened the room, as if their gentle sound could make the lamplight more golden and the fires burn warmer.

The giggles rolled out of him like the waves on a long shallow beach. They seemed to disappear for a while only to build up and break to the surface once more. He knew it wasn't manly to giggle but he couldn't help it.

The giggle rolled about the room like a child's spinning top, vibrant and heart warming as it moved around the people in its chaotic way. It came in fits and bursts - loud to soft to nothing at all and back to loud again.

It was as if there was an invisible feather at the little boy's nape brushing softly; he squirmed and raised his shoulders to hide the little neck he had.

The handsome silver haired male stared at him fondly kissing his cheek gently.

He cradled him gently as he continued to laugh.

On lookers couldn't help be drawn to the two. It was as if they were magnets.

What he didn't notice was someone looking at him from afar.

'How interesting...'

They turned on their heels before leaving quietly. It seemed as if they never existed.

-----------------

"Excuse me sir. It's your turn."

After many (terrible) puns and jokes was it finally my go.

"Ah yes, I was wondering if I could apply as an adventurer. Oh yes why is it so busy today?"

"Well it's usually not this busy. This is because a sublagation for some powerful monsters is happening soon. Where they are located is where some extremely rare herbs grow so everyone want to jump on board. Anyways it's quite a bad day today to register as a rookie. No matter!

Please place your hand on this crystal ball so we can decipher your magic ranking."

I nod and gently place my palm on it.

It glows a faint colour.

"Okay your level 5. You have little mana within you. But don't worry we'll allow you to borrow some rookie equipment with little expense. Oh yes I forgot to even get your name."

"I'm Asahina Muyuki. And my little buddy here is Minaki Ayashi!"

"Okay just sign these papers and you;ll be done. I guess you also want the child to have his own adventurer card so you won't have t do this process again. Although he might not be able to do any missions of his own."

"Thank you. You've been a great help."

"No problem."

I look the letters. They looked foreign but I could somehow read it. How peculiar.

As I sign it the paper glows incredibly bright and floats! The paper then spin around in the air.

"Wow! It's like magic!"

Minaki exclaims as he looks at the paper in the air.

I chuckle and pat his head.

"It's okay, don't panic. The paper is changing itself into your guild card. See?"

The receptionist explains.

The paper shrink in size and turn into standard card size and fall into my lap.

[ Name: Minaki Ayashi

Rank: F ]

I turn the card back and forth but that's the only thing written on it.

"F-rank is the starter rank here. You now can take the quest within F-rank! The quests are on the large wooden board over there."

She points in the direction where adventures gathered around a large wooden bulletin.

"I guess since your new I'll explain the basics!.

Okay on the first floor, in where you currently are situated the is where we, the receptionist are at the dining room and bulletin board are at.

The second floor, is the administrative work space for the guild's staff including their break room. There's few space for more receptionist too and the warehouse is also on second floor. But you need special access of course to enter any of those rooms.

From the third floor to the fifth floor is the inn. The adventurers can rent a room there while they stay in town. Outside is a training ground and where we grow some crops ranging from vegetables to herbs. That's basically about it where things are situated.

Oh yes about quest, this guild receives quests from various people. Either from private company, fellow citizen, the government and the others. There's also variety of quests, from plant collection, escorting, monster subjugation and even items delivery.

So it suits people of all jobs here in this guild. SS tier quests are the hardest and you are recommended to have a party or else it's nearly impossible to accomplish. The only adventurers to do it solo goes by the name 'Phantom.' But no one's actually seen his face. Well I haven't myself. Anyways I was off topic.

The quests will be divided according to the difficulty into their ranks. So the adventurer can only take quest within their rank and below. The guild also stores the gold. People can store and withdraw their gold through the guild. It's definitely say here! We actually recently started to make partnerships with different companies for things such as armor and weapons.

I don't know if you got all of that but that's all you basically need to know!"

I nod along making a mental note of what she was saying. I would probably forgot most of it in due time.

"Thank you. I should get going and take some request. You must be busy. Thank you yet again."

She smiles brightly.

"No problem! Cya soon."

I nod and head to the bulletin board. To each side of it were tables with chairs and behind it were some indoor plants that surprisingly had yet to be ruined.

If we go straight, there's a stairs to the 2nd floor. Next to the stairs is another counter with a sign [Quest Registration] on there.

So at the guild, I can take up quest or request for one. Have a bank account. Able to rent a room and train here.

That's basically it.

I look at Minaki who is dozing off.

Must have been bored to death. I should let him sleep. He must be exhausted.

I guess I should get a job now!

I wonder what the future holds.
