59 Chapter PoV Kira

We found a bunch of islands during the survival training that at first glance seems perfect for a base and Vailein and Mav are very excited to create their base there as well. Since the largest challenge will be transport Janfa and I decide to support them there. They instantly start looking to design the base itself, forgetting transport of goods. So me and Janfa look into what each type of transport can mean and what we need.

For example: A helicopter capable of carrying 1000 kg has an average flying range of 100km. At best they can transport goods between the islands themselves but that's it. Helicopters that can carry larger loads and travel further are only available to the military. Of course helicarriers are also options but they are meant for people not cargo. Having one designed specially for us is something we cannot afford.

Planes, most are small but they did make a few for transport between megatropolises. The problem is the runway needed for them to lift off or land. Meaning, on our islands until construction is done, impossible.

A cargo ship, possible in the water, keeps the location pretty well hidden too but getting the materials loaded requires a dock. Defending a cargo ship is only possible with 10 elite trainers on board, not to mention the 1000 lower level trainers, or a swarm of swimming Pokemon. A cargo ship has to be combined with caravans or other means of land transport, meaning a larger cost.

Last but not least, teleportation. A group of Pokemon capable of teleport can work together to transport goods. This however means small batches and unless we have 1000 teleport Pokemon that will take years. Again so far an expanse we cannot afford.

After a lot of thinking our minds drift to the Humvee we took from the ruins. If we can recreate the bags we can create a speedboat with a few of those containers and stuff it full with everything we need. A caravan can transport all materials directly from harvest places to a designated location. A speedboat is defensible with 4 king stage Pokemon that can swim. Thing is, if we understand Vailein a bit and we are right, he wants to create a safe haven for kids under the guidance of a few adults. The transport of the goods can be done by us, the construction has to be done by professionals or it might just collapse into the waters.

If we manage to pull dimensional pockets there then mine them and send them off again we can create a large base at a low cost. But that kind of technology does not yet exist.

For now the plan is on offering jobs to kids that just graduate from schools. Vailein plans on hiring about 200 engineers, 4 architects, 400 builders of various kinds, 100 trainers and even ex militaire special forces guys for training the kids and security. He plans on finding a way to get the Humvee working and buying a small boat that can carry it across the water as transport. But so far they are only planning on doing that after they graduate.

For now we need a group of Pokemon trainers. For that purpose I draw up plans. Since orphans don't get to go to primary school we can give them something to do instead. Porygon finds 4 retired special forces trainers in no time. Now we can put the grounds, Vailein and Mav spend so much effort in building, to good use. Orphans aged 7-10 can subscribe for training during school hours. That are 6 long hours of training under those instructors. After half a year, if they pass their physical tests, they gain evening classes about Pokemon at one of the mansions from professional trainers. After a year they can get a Pokemon at random. 99% are bug Pokemon, the remaining 1% are also common flying type Pokemon from around the city, so no dragon types. For this year food will be provided by Vailein Mav Janfa and me.

At the age of 10 when they leave the orphanage we pay them a small fee and they go their own way, with our company as their umbrella. After 2 more years the kids are pretty much self sufficient. In return it is now their turn to take care of the next batch of kids. Of course just like with the previous things we have to start small. So the first batch can only exist out of 40 kids.

Vailein however is tempted to use a more brutal approach. Next year there is a tournament in the megatropolis. He plans on hiring a mercenary squad to rescue a bunch of kids from the slums. Then have that group train the kids for 2 months both physically as well as dog like Pokemon knowledge: Rockruff, Houndour, Growlithe, Snubbull, Shinx, Poochyena, Electrice, Lillipup. Of course there are more suitable Pokemon, but I need the noses of those Pokemon more then anything else. After 2 months each of those kids will move into the flat that his parents have and give them that Pokemon. They will be ready within a year to be instructors themselves.

The first few years it will be a money drain. But when the first self-sufficient members complete the training it will slowly turn around until it becomes profitable. After all we need many young trainers to change the world, having them owe you while they climb the ladders to influence is very useful.

For all this we need a larger revenue stream then what we currently have, just one fun house where people can play and train won't bring enough money to sustain that. Even if we manage to grow our own food. How to get enough income is one big riddle right now. So instead of wasting time I focus on the grueling training my Pokemon and I do, next to learning everything I can about land vehicles. Janfa focuses on anything that flies. Mav studies structural engineering, especially bridges. Vailein? Oh he is up to his nostrils in architecture, electrical generators of every type and water, yes just the pure element.
