Death & Rebirth (pt 2.)

"Well my first question would be why me, don't get me wrong but I'm perfectly content with moving on to the afterlife. I've lived a long and eventful life." This was the question he had deep in his mind because while the situation seemed absurd, he was still interested as this was something new and he knew he probably won't ever get the chance like this again. "Hmmm if you had immediately accepted I would have had to reconsider offering you this chance" while she said that a shadow of a smile appeared on her lips.

While Martin simply observed she carried on "I have searched over the years for a possible 'champion' as you might call it to help me out with a problem over one of my domain worlds. You've seen wars, know of their effect and how people seek benefits for those wars. You've also had an appreciation for life later down the line. These qualities are what initially drew my attention to you."

"But without further ado, the task at hand Is to help me 'fix' the situation of the people I'll send you to, you may be familiar with the world of Naruto?", Martin pauses in his thoughts and let at a low chuckle "you want to send me into a world riddled with war? From what I remember during my youth, they had 3 world wars in less than a century". His voice sounded hollow with those particular thoughts, not particularly excited to go to such a world.

A sigh escaped from the Shinigamis mouth as she expected his response "while that world is prone to wars, I was hoping you'd accept this as with the ability I'll grant you, further down the line it should be possible to visit your remaining family.. depending on how much effort you put in" this immediately caught his attention! While he accepted that his time has long passed, he was still attached to his grandchildren for they brought such life to him unlike what he's experienced in a long time.

"And how exactly am I meant to fix a whole society of people, I am just one man, I don't exactly have the ability to lead hundreds or thousands" he asked while the Shinigami simply said "who told you that you had to lead to change people, you can influence them from the shadows, train up a leader, there are more ways than one to complete this task." Before any further considerations he asked "what ability are you giving me?" This made the Shinigami break into a toothy smile; the ability I'm giving you is quite a unique one in existence, don't worry it's not the gamer ability" she said off handily towards the end.

"The ability I'll grant you is the WORLD TREAD!" With those words he felt something within his soul shake, what it was he never knew but he felt he needed to listen more. "This ability is unique as with every 100 steps you take, one attribute of your choice improves by 1%. As a default we'll set it at strength." He was about to speak but she cut him off "before you say anything, at first this ability might not seem like much, but consider if you could improve your speed, strength, intelligence or even recovery rate simply by walking. I'm sure you see the benefits in the long run."

As he thought about it he gradually got more excited "are the improvements permanent?!" He barely realised the grin on his face. The Shinigami knew she had him hooked "of course they're permanent, besides it's one of the easiest abilities I could grant you as it all works with the internal energy you'll have." Martin was confused by this "what do you mean?"

The Shinigami went into a lecturing mode "the energy called chakra consists of physical and mental energy, what the people of this world fail to do was explore the extent this energy could go to, through the physical or yang energy, with the right application it can help improve the conditions and quality of the muscles, cells, tissues and organs. With mental or yin energy rather than simply the basic uses they use it for, you can use it to in simpler terms 'upgrade' the brain your connectivity and sensitivity both internally and externally to yourself and the world around. The only clan that have really thought of inventive ways on using this energy are the Yamanaka clan, but sadly they didn't get to their full potential."

Listening to all of this Martin was more and more drawn to accept and was 99% there. "What about the child of prophecy?" This caused a twitch in the Shinigamis eye as she snorted "what child of prophecy?! Would you believe the words of an old toad drunk to oblivion" the disdain in her voice was palatable so Martin decided to let the matter slide.

Moving on she continued "If you accept I will make sure you're reborn into the Uzumaki clan, 25 years before the invasion of Uzushiogakure. This should be more than enough time to make changes as I do not want their extermination as they're the closest people to me in that world."

Something then popped up in his mind as he never understood it when he watched the series "why were they wiped out in the first place?" "Its simple really, the barriers used for most of the major villages originated from the Uzumaki. You do realise how much influence that gives them. Imagine having every weak point in and out of a village, where the ways to sneak in successfully and not be noticed. All this was held by the Uzumaki and people did not like that, of course they also wanted this information for themselves. In the end it was a winner takes all or whatever can be salvaged."

Martin thought about this and how he could use it "I see, well I think I'll take you up on your offer. Can I travel to other worlds?" "That will depend on your efforts" a hint of mirth was in her voice as she answered.

"Well when do I begin?!" As soon as he asked that he felt like he was falling, this lasted a while until he blacked out." "Hmm I probably should have told him that his memories will be mostly sealed within his soul and will be slowly released over a period till he's 5. Oh well he'll be fine."
