10 Meeting Gin

GIN POV

I came to this forest following an ancient map I found in a run not loge ago. The map depicted a temple bulled in the depth of this forest and protected by the natural life here. I have spent a week in this forest trying to discover the temple but to no avail. And the constants attack of the beasts here did not make things easier.

All most all of the magical beast living in this forest are extremely aggressive. I hand to constantly deploy Ren to scare them of. But thirty mines ago I started to feel someone or something watching me and stroking me.

After spending half an hour with no result to show for. I tried to bait him by making him think I was on to him now, and he took the bait. When he noticed I was on to him he tried to retreat which gave his position away.

I called out to him to come out and what I saw was a tall young teen. From his facial features, he looked to be in his mid-teens.

[Gin] {What amazing skill if not for his lack of inexperience I might as well never found him?}

So I asked hem

[Gin] "Why were you following me kid?"

But he just started lamenting the fact that I found him out.

[Nero] "Sorry I did not mean any harm, I sensed your aura a while ago and tried to test my new tracing skills on you"

[Gin] {A new skill he says and here I thought he was an expert tracker and only inexperienced cause of his age}

He looked at me and said.

[Nero] "There are not many insane people who venture this deep into this forest, why are you here?"

He was talking to me so casually as if I was someone he knew for a long time.

[Gin] {This kid was kind of weirdo}.

NERO POV

Gin eventually told me the reason he was here for. He was look for the rune of an ancient temple somewhere in this forest. I guess that was expected of him since he is a rune hunter and all.

I asked him if my technique was any goo, and he told me that my stealth was splendid. Had I not been too hasty when my opponent showed signs of caution, he may have never found me out at all. What I lacked was the experience. Tracking animals and humans are two different things. If I reserved my cool back then he may have never found me out.

[Gin] "So you have been living in this forest for the past two years it must have been harsh," he said

Gin and I were now sitting in my home. It was a small cave in a cliff that I renovated to suet my needs it. I spent most of my cultivating in this cave. It had a bed made of hay and fur. We were taking over a meal that I hunted for us. I mean this is the first time that I have a gest I can't have them be hungry in my hose can I.

I caught us big a unicorn dear. One of the rarest animals with the testiest meat you could find in this forest. I made us a stew out of its meat. I don't mean to brag but I believe I make the best stew in the world. The proof to my words was the salivating gin but that is enough of my cooking skill.

[Alfa] {You are just desperate for human interaction sir}

[Nero] {None asked you alfa just let me have this}

[Nero] "It is free here, away from all the complex moral conundrums of living in a social society, but it does get lonely sometimes"

[Nero] "If you ask me the hardest thing for me is not having someone to talk to"

[Alfa] {You've all ways had me to talk to sir}

[Nero] {I guess you are write if not for you and the soul manual. I might have gone little Kuku in the head from all the loneliness I felt at times, but then again whenever I was out of the forest trouble just seemed to find me all the time like a magnet} I though.

[Nero] "I only get the chance to talk to people when I meat crazy enough hunters that are willing to venture this deep in to the forest"

[Gin] "That is true, I also feel free when I am hunting for my next adventure"

[Gin] "You know you are quite the mature for your age"

[Nero] "I guess living in here this long dose that to you"

[Nero] {Of course you guff my actual age is 37}

[Gin] "haaahaaa, I guess it will" he side while giggling.

I asked him if he needed any help searching for the runes he was looking for since I pretty much know this forest like the back of my hand. If he showed me the map alfa might recognize some of the landmarks. Even with the passage of time and change in the landscape. With alfa on the job he could reduce the time it would take to find it by a big margin if not all together.

Bit his answer was

[Gin] "Where is the fun in that, if it were just this easy to find where is all the fun I much rather have a hard time finding it on my own than an easy one with your help"

His answer caught me off guard and I thought {is this what a true hunter is like}

[Nero] "Gin you sick man you just don't want me to spoil your adventure."

[Nrro] {Well I guess I could relate to that a bit I would not let someone else steal my thunder}

I spent the rest of the night asking him about his adventure, and the places he has been to. Gin was the embodiment of my dreams. A free man threaded by nothing. As much as I wished to be just like him I knew I could not sever my tethers completely like him. Because this man was tethered by nothing in life.

[Nero] "Do you have a family?"

I don't know why asked him that but it just slipped out. I know he has one but I think I wanted to know his perspective on this matter.

Gin was silent for a moment ad said "why do you want to know?" he asked me

[Nero] "I don't know just curies I guess, it just slipped out, you can choose not to answer if it is too personal of a question" when I said that a picture of a girl with pink-red hair and bright brown eyes floated in my mind.

[Nero] {I hope she is doing well}

Gin observed me remains in my past as I thought of Genkai and smiled.

[Gin] "I have a son, I believe he will ten this year" he said.

[Nero] "How is it like to be a father?"

[Gin] "I can't say, I have not seen him ever since he was two years old when I left him with my grandmother and cozen, hahaha"

[Nero] "...… (-_-)..."

[Gin]"what???!"

[Nero] "Gin...… you are a bad father"

[Gin] "I can't argue with that one bite. Haaaahaaa"

[Gin] "What about you, from your eyes I could tell there is someone you hold dear to you"

[Nero] "Well we are not family in a conventional way, but we bot grew up together, we were both orphans abended in meteor city" [more like discarded]

[Gin] "You are from meteor city??"

[Nero] "Yes," I said thinking back to my time there I don't want to admit it but I am even starting to miss that mess of a city.

[Nero] "But that was a long time ago now, I call this forest a home more than I would that city"

[Gin] "I see....."

[Gin] "If you don't mind me asking why you don't become a hunter, you already have more than enough talent to qualify for it."

[Nero] "Don't worry about that I do intend to become a hunter. I will be taking the 287 exams"

[Gin] "Why that one in particular?"

I smiled and said "it is my lucky number"

{Nero} [As in I know every part of that exam}

[Gin] "Lucky number? But you don't look like the superstitious type me"

[Alfa] {He is on to you I suggest we eliminate hi sir}

Nero just laughed awkwardly while thinking

[Nero] {If you should cool it down a bit alfa}

[Gin] "Well as much as fun as it has been hanging out with you, I will be heading out now"

[Gin] "It ben nice meeting you Nero and I do hope you become a hunter a great hunter and if you ever meet my son…. Never mind"

[Nero] "Sure thing, have a safe journey" and I waved to him as his finger faded into the forest.

I never thought I would be running into this man in a million years this casually. But I guess you could call it a nice coincidence. He got the charisma of a king yet loves to be almoner in the forest, and there also this air of mischief to him.
