Awakening

"Dude, I've waited so long for this!"

"I can't wait for the awakening ceremony!"

Some groups of students argued excitedly among themselves as they walked towards the gate of a large building. Away from these groups of students, there was a slightly different group, these students were not at all excited and even looked a little depressed.

"Hey man, has your family found you a job yet?"

"Yes, I'm going to work with my father at the mine, my family is in need of money ..."

"Me too, and you Caesar?" One of the youth asked a good-looking boy at his side.

"I don't know yet, my mom said I could wait for my awakening."

These young people who were far from the crowd of students had something in common, none of them showed great talents, all had average grades, and were also from medium families. Furthermore, none of them showed any compatibility with magical energy, which means that they would probably all wake up low-level skills if they woke up.

Soon they arrived at the classroom, that day would happen one of the biggest events in the lives of young people, which could mark the beginning of a new life for some and the end of the dreams of others, the awakening ceremony. A few minutes after the students arrived in the classroom, a fat man moved to the front of the large whiteboard in the room and spoke out loud.

"This is the end of yet another cycle, or perhaps the beginning of a completely new cycle."

"Now all of you will go through the long-awaited despair, I wish you all good luck."

The fat man signaled, and shortly afterward some school officials entered and began to organize students in a row. Then they guided the students to a normal classroom, but in the center was a purple stone that emanated small vibrations of energy.

"The awakening ceremony is simple, the student must put his hand on the stone and try to connect to the stone, to absorb the energy that it emanates." He pointed to a purple stone in the center of the room.

The energy contained in the stone will stimulate your awakening. The first to attempt absorption will be those with the best scores in the room, each one has a few minutes at most, after which you will be considered as not able to wake up."

"Can start!"

A few dozen minutes later, almost the entire room had already done the procedure, just missing the youngsters who had the worst scores. These students did not have bad grades in high school, but due to their poor compatibility with magical power, they were among the last in their class rank.

"Next!"

Caesar was watching the process and saw that it happened as he imagined, only two of his colleagues awakened skills, and these were the weakest of the "F" rank. When it was his turn, he went to the center of the room, the young man had a calm expression on his face as if it didn't matter to him, but inside he was a little nervous and excited to see what skill he would awaken.

He put his hand on top of the purple stone and closed his eyes while concentrating fully. A few minutes later, Caesar's legs were shaking, and an expression of deep sadness on his face.

"No! I don't accept that!" Caesar did not feel the slightest trace of energy, the only thing he felt was the rough surface of the stone, even when he put all his will and concentration into trying to feel the energy, he feels nothing.

"Okay kid, your time is up, there are others in line." the clerk looked pitifully at the young student as he pulled the boy away from the stone.

Caesar was extremely disappointed in himself, he didn't even try to resist the employee, he released the purple stone and went towards the exit of the room, after leaving he sat on the floor of the corridor and leaned against a wall crying. One of Caesar's greatest dreams has always been to awaken a good ability to support his family, he wanted to be at least a low level hunter, so that he would be able to hunt some weak monsters alone and get good money.

Unfortunately, fate was cruel, since his childhood, he never had good compatibility with magical energy. But even so, he never lost hope, he knows how hard his parents worked to pay the gym fee, so he could have a good education and the possibility of waking up.

* Sigh *

"Maybe working in the store with my dad isn't that bad ..." César consoled himself as he decided to go home and tell his parents about his decision.

Opening the door of his house, Caesar was faced with a scene that calmed his heart. His father and mother were on the couch, watching a TV show while they talked, he ended up listening to some of the conversation.

"Honey, I'm a little worried about our son, I think he has a lot of expectations, which can be dangerous."

"Don't worry, he is a good boy, with high expectations for himself, but he is also smart, he knows about the low chance he has of awakening some high-level skills."

"Regardless of what happens, he will always be our son." said Caesar's father as he hugged and kissed his wife affectionately.

Seeing this scene, Caesar was moved, and with tears in his eyes he decided to cool his head and think about his future, so he went to a square near his house, he stayed there until nightfall. After calming down and accepting today's sad result, he went to his home and told his family everything.

"Mom"

"Dad"

"I didn't awaken any skills ..." said Caesar with little wet eyes.

The two were a little shocked by a sudden statement but soon began to comfort their son.

After having dinner with his parents and telling everything that happened, César went to his room, where he started to think about what his life would be like from that moment on.

"Perhaps my future as a hunter is over, but I will work hard to make my parents have a better life and be proud of me."

Just as Caesar was about to sleep, a robotic voice rang out in his mind.
