1 Last Generation Levi

"I don't really know if I should tell you my story because just like anybody else in this room, mine was as boring as yours hahaha or should I say that I don't know exactly what's interesting in my life anymore hmmm or why the world around me is so different than everyone's" Via said before she paused. She was in a deep thought contemplating while reciting her piece in front of 50 plus students in her class, she was in Junior High and just transferred in this university yesterday. She had to introduce herself and tell them a little bit about her life in Kansas.

"Cling Clang!Cling Clang!" saved by the bell, everyone moved like nobody cares if she's standing in front of the class or not. As usual she isn't upset since she is already used to it, nobody knows her that much because they always move from one place to another so it's no big deal.

"just a nobody" she said to herself.

"hey!daydreaming?don't forget the party will be later at my place!" Cazi tapped her on the shoulder before she left the room. She was the Chinese girl with a braided hair she just met this morning at the school gate and according to her it was her birthday today. Cazi was the first person she met since she moved here and though she felt like she's a bit off in her standards of choosing a friend, Via didn't care to think more since she was new to the place, she needed someone to at least be there when she is torn between curiosity and necessity.

"I'll be there, don't worry" lazy as she is while fixing her books back to her backpack when her phone vibrated.

"Yes?what is it?" it's her aunt Venice is on the line.

"Dear...go get it in your father's library...the code is 642388 and..." she was stuttering that seems like it's hard for her to breath and speak at the same time before Via heard the gunshot.

"aunt Venice?aunt Venice!!!" Via was almost shouting, trembling and tears freely gushed all over her face.

She is now in panic to fix her things and run through the corridor only to bump into someone.

"hey! watch out! oh ah are you okay?" a man in black hoody said after noticing her unstoppable tears.

"ye-yes! yes! excuse me!" Via didn't even try to lift her head to see him, she is in a hurry thinking she needs to see aunt Venice alive.

When she arrived home, a stretcher came out from the mansion's door covered with a white cloth. A hand slipped through the side revealing the watch her father gave to her aunt Venice on its birthday.

"Aunt Venice? oh no no!! no please! aunt Venice wake up! please wake up! don't do this to me! you can't leave me! please don't! please don't leave me! please!" no matter how much she cried and no matter how much it hurts, there is no life left in her body. Via's heart sunk that she couldn't bare to breath, she's gonna lose the only person left in her life. The fear of living alone at a young age hit her, her parents died when she was 18 and she is the only close relative she had.

"Ma'am please give a statement to the police officer over there and come to the morgue afterwards to claim the body. Thank you" the man in a blue suit that looks like an ambulance nurse said while pointing his finger to the policeman standing beside the mansion's door.

Via still can't process everything in her head yet it seems like the passing of aunt Venice is just a routine after she cried for a moment, the same feeling when she lost her parents on the day of her debut. Her parents were on their way home when they got into an accident before they arrive on her birthday party.

"hey miss! do you know who might do this to the victim?" and that breaks her thinking, the policeman started asking questions and she suddenly ask herself too how did this happen when her aunt was a naturally kind woman. Aunt Venice took care of her after her parents died that's why it hurts just the way how it hurts when Via lost them.

She was finished giving the statement so the policeman already left when Via remembered the phone call before the gunshot. She rushed to her father's library but doesn't really know what needs to be found in there.

"hmmm what is it that I need to get? uh! aunt Venice!!!" she sobbed again remembering her second mom. While she was crying with her head on top of her two hands folded and leaning on the wooden table, her face down facing the shiny tiled floor mirroring the table's downward features.

Something is shining with the reflection of the light coming from the window. Via wiped her wet face with her bare hands and tried to touch what was it that's shining from below. Its a 10 pieces small metallic thing that looks like a keyboard? or maybe a calculator? what could it be.

And via remembered "642388" of course she's gonna try. She pressed the corresponding numbers on the said metallic keyboard and wooop!

A thin drawer opened. Revealing a thin book with weird carved drawings from the cover saying...

"I AM A LEVI"

Via read out loud the title of the book from the outside and it moved. Yes, the book moved and it was shaking so Via held it in and pushed it to the table to stop it from moving. One of the pages slipped from the side of the book directly cutting the edge of her finger, Via got wounded and startled from what had happened removing her hands from the book and sucked the blood dropping from her fingers to the table, it was a long cut revealing the inside flesh. The book still keeps on shaking until it reached the blood on the table and it suddenly stopped, it stopped as soon as the book tasted her blood? the blood disappeared from the table like it was absorbed by the book cover that is made up of a thin rusty colored cloth.

Gracefully and unexpectedly...

The book opened on its own...

Via tried to find anything to read on the first page but there's nothing but a blank white pages of the book.

"So what's so important about this book?" via asked herself in her mind.

--I am important--

those letters came out from the book one by one like as if someone is writing it using an ink that disappears too as soon as she read it.

Via got scared so she distanced herself a little bit. She understood clearly that this book can read her mind and can even talk to her through a writing. So once again, she asked something out to confirm if she was thinking was right.

"What is a Levi" she asked in her thoughts.

--A Levi is the eye of humanity. You are the last one of your kind. Someone who is capable of seeing the real form of human beings and of animoras--

"What is an Animora?" she asked again.

--You will know exactly once you see one. It's a half human and a half of something else. You have 2 months to go before your 21st birthday where you will develop your Levi skills. Keep yourself safe until then, protect me and I will protect you.--

"hahaha unbelievable! half human and half what?are you insane?hahaha fine so how am I supposed to protect you?"

--you can and you will--

"okay given that I will do that, why should I?" she was laughing at the thought.

--because once you turn 21, people will hunt you, people will destroy me and you will be a threat to every animora alive--

"hahaha this is truly insane, one last thing. Why should I believe you?"

--because the last generation Levi is You and--

"and what???"

--and its me baby, my baby olive has grown up--

Via was shocked at the mere thought but she is very much and absolutely sure, there is only one person who calls her that.

"Dad??? is that you??? oh my god!!!"
