The Week Ends

One week later…

It'd been a week since Bailey had first met Lewis, of course over the week that hadn't been their only meeting, in fact Bailey had been invited to the command tent on multiple occasions to learn.

Unfortunately, his groups' instructor caught wind of this and needless to say she was less than pleased that one of her trainees were spending time with the Prince.

Using the excuse of 'special training' she put him through training that was at least five times harder than others.

However, unlike the first time Bailey was less bothered by the training – in fact, he'd come to enjoy it.

This was all due to his training with the Prince, the second time they'd met the Prince had taught him how to relieve his mental fatigue through a special technique of nobility.

Bailey had asked him if this was a technique that could be taught freely, Lewis had simply replied by calling it an 'open secret' among the nobility.

This technique had been created by a young man possessing Light Elementa, his reasons for creating it had been less than pure, to say the least.

In only one short week Bailey had become far more muscular than he had been in the beginning, even the Instructor began to compliment him during this time, although the training intensity did increase…

However, this quick boost in physique was all due to the self-healing properties of Light Elementa, he'd once questioned Lewis on it and he'd said that many before him had once had the same idea however the outcome was the same, they all ended up bed-ridden as their Elementa couldn't keep up with the intensity in which their muscles were strengthening.

Bailey was living proof that such a program could work if the quantity of the Elementa was of a suitable amount, theoretically, this would mean the person would need to possess the Elementa of a Level five or Level six but who at such a level wouldn't have strengthened their body considerably already?

Furthermore, in this one week they'd all taken part in basic spear training – once again led by the devilish instructor, what was surprising about this however was that Prince himself had also taken part.

He'd used the excuse that learning new skills would always be beneficial, especially on the field of battle, being able to use one more weapon even just the basics could save their life.

With the prince learning with them the many unwilling youths who'd been conscripted felt a rush of adrenaline as they rushed to prove themselves, only Bailey was the exception as he stood on the spot learning slowly but began to build a solid foundation.

Due to his aptitude for learning he quickly picked up the basics and was moved to sparring practice with the veteran soldiers who happily welcomed him, his unyielding attitude posed quite a problem for them, no matter how many times he was knocked down he'd get back up.

He spent the week either training with the soldiers to improve his technique, learning from the Prince or going through the demon-like training the instructor forced him through. He gradually fell into a comfortable routine.

Gradually his personality went through some small changes as well, with his increasing confidence in the healing abilities of his Light Elementa he trained like a demon.

It could be said that Bailey was a coward, but it could also be said that he simply found nothing entertaining.

Back when he was in the village school he'd always been the top of the class but he'd never paid attention to such a meaningless achievement.

Books had become his retreat from the boringness of reality and gradually he felt disinterested in anything other than sleeping and reading much to the dismay of his mother and father.

However, when faced with the threat of death in the coming battle it was only natural that he'd do everything to increase his chance of survival, even with his Light Elementa war was unpredictable.

He had the power to make a difference but if he didn't train to be able to use that wouldn't it be a waste of such power? He was determined to save as many lives on the battlefield as he could, specifically for this reason he'd asked the Prince in their last lesson before the week ended to teach him how to heal others.

It was surprisingly simple, all he needed to do was draw the Elementa outside of his body then spread it across the body of the other person – the healing services of Light Elementa was used almost exclusively by nobility because of its efficiency.

However, clinics where Wielders of Light Elementa willingly healed others did exist, they were well respected and known throughout the world as the saviours of the common people.

Although depending on the severity of the injury the cost would also increase but usually, the healers would heal the injury first before exacting a cost, the cost would be as insignificant as a single copper coin but something must always be paid.

These clinics all belonged to the same organisation and practiced this strange practice across the world so people had long become accustomed to their uniqueness.

Of course even the best healer in these clinics and even the healers Lewis had been acquainted with in the capital couldn't heal a wound as fast as Bailey could, it was simply unimaginable the speed at which his Light Elementa could completely close an open wound.

So the end of the week came, just a day remained before the beast wave had been predicted to begin – the scouts had detected increased movements in the beasts as they gathered near the edge of the forest.

Bailey could see them moving with his heightened senses, thousands upon thousands of beasts stalking the edges of the forest but seemingly held back by an invisible force.

He sighed looking at the masses of beasts, all of them looked ferocious and just one of them looked dangerous enough to rip him to shreds in seconds, it was enough to make him shiver.

He was also concerned about Bella, he hadn't seen her once during the week of training and could only hope she was okay – he'd asked the Prince if he'd seen anyone of her description.

Lewis had said a group had left to train with his permission and he vaguely remembers a woman with red hair being among them, red was a very eye-catching colour so of course it was easier for him to recall.

He knew tomorrow could be the day of his death, but for once in his life, he wasn't afraid of what was to come.

The final day passed quietly…
