1 The End

It is now 0 B.E.E, and the last habitable planet, hosting one billion humans, is about to be destroyed. It has been innumerable Earth years since humanity has set out into space, however, they are now on their last legs.

Even though the last habitable planet is fairly small compared to humanities Mater Terra, the surface was barren despite the population reaching one billion, in fact, the surface was molten. However, dive deeper into the planet and one would find endless tunnels reaching throughout its solid core. In these tunnels were, not humans, but robots, taking care of what might at first seem like an alien script.

This script, in all reality, was what one might akin to computer circuits; circuits that were designed to tap into the quantum space.

This was all done in order to create a virtual reality in which the last human beings could live and thrive. This is what is left of the human race - virtually projected personas, and it is about to be destroyed.

Deep in the labyrinth of caves inside the last habitable planet three suspicious robots gathered together. What made these robots suspicious were two things: first they were the only robots that did not seem busy, second they were the only robots who appeared to be based on gender. One seemed to depict a man with the other two being feminine: one a woman, the other a girl.

"Hahaha! It's finally ready!" a maniacal cry rang out from the man.

"You don't have to act so joyously, those people are about to lose the home they've known for thousands of years." replied the woman

"Mff" a muffled laugh escaped the lips of the other two robots.

"Mommy, since when have you cared about anything other than me and daddy?"

The woman turned away in anger "Humpf! I was just teasing your daddy." However, the act was exposed as the two could see a smirk on the woman's artificial face.

Inside one of the custom virtual worlds, a couple was lying down enjoying each other's company basking in bright neon red light.

"Uuh!" A tired yawn stretched out across a grassy field. "I wish we could turn off that bright red timer, it's getting in the way of our last few peaceful hours together." a soothing, deep voice broke the wordless atmosphere.

"Never mind it, just close your eyes and cuddle with me." replied a cute whisper.

"Mm."

This couple's relaxed nature was not a rarity among the remaining humans, most of them had already accepted their end and were trying to enjoy their last moments to their fullest capacity.

However, seconds before the countdown ended something happened.

As if they had all agreed beforehand, during the last few seconds of the countdown, everyone closed their eyes anticipating the end.

But it never came.
