9 Plans For The Future

"Luke!" Shouts came from outside.

"Who's that?" Emma asked me when doors were open.

"My friend." I believed we could call each other friends.

Leon was in front of the gate, we exchanged our addresses before separating. Next to him was a girl, probably a sister he talked about.

"Luke, nice to meet you." I introduced myself to the girl. Unfortunately, Leon just found her. Stories he said to me, about his brothers and sister came back to me, making me sad.

"Aria, nice to meet you."

"I think we should go inside."

I gave two of the guest rooms to them. After an hour passed, I called everyone to the living room.

"I think we should discuss where to go from now" Having a clear goal is always important. "Also, Emma and Aria, I would like to know your abilities."

"Well, uh... basically, I can make barriers, on both living and inanimate things." She was the reason why both gate and Noah weren't destroyed.

"I'm not strong like my brother, I guess, I'm... a Water Mage? And unfortunately, a weak one at that..." Well, honesty is always appreciated.

"Don't worry about it." I was more curious about Emma's ability.

'For how long is she able to hold a barrier, how many people can she cover, can she focus on just part of the body or is it a whole?... Well, I'll just ask her later.'

There's few things we found out about abilities. Every human gained one. There was a difference between those who's bodies got strengthen as opposed to the, for example, Leon. Their strength was like a passive skill, something you always have. Mage only has an affinity with one element. Also, people would improve at different rates, based on their talent. Even if people start at the same point, if two put the same amount of effort, one that's more gifted would be stronger, in that aspect world was never fair.

If you take into account that every human gained the ability, and this new world, then there is a very large amount that could be considered as normal or even weak.

"Now, for a goal. I'm sure everyone agrees that the most important is for everyone to stay alive?" I first wanted to get everyone on the same page, after everyone nodded I continued.

"Than what's most important to do that?"

Aria looked like she wanted to say something but gave up, probably still wasn't comfortable.

"Strenght and numbers." said Leon.

"Correct. Zombies are making larger and larger groups, soon we won't be able to do anything against their numbers. We need more people, which means making a place where those people will live and also where we rest ourselves. I think our goal should be exactly this, a base."

"Tell me, Noah, is there evacuation area made in the stadium?"

There was a football stadium close to us, it would make for a great base, but that's exactly why I thought there was an evacuation center already made.

"Don't talk to me." 'He really doesn't wanna talk with me huh.'

"It was destroyed recently." Emma answered, and didn't hide her annoyance as she looked at her twin brother.

"I think we should make the stadium our base. However, currently, there is no way we can do that. Our first goal should be enlargening of our numbers."

"I agree. Luke, you will be a leader." I turned towards Leon as he said that.

"..."

"We have been together some time already, I think you have the qualities of a leader."

"...Alright. Then I'll take that place. Does anyone oppose?"

"..." No answer came.

"I'll make sure to do a good job. Aria, Emma can you tell me all evacuation points near here."

I marked every place on the map, that was in the house, with the help of those two. I also found out that just yesterday one evacuation area got attacked and fallen. There was bound to be survivors. So it was decided to go there. All of us went, I wanted to know the extent of everyone's power so I can accurately control a battle.

We went through zombies easily, Leon, Noah and I were front-line, with Emma and Aria at the back. Unfortunately, only one that didn't get any show light was Aria, while everyone was above average she was maybe even below, however, I didn't mind this.

Currently, Emma could only cover one person, she could protect both the whole body or specific area, larger the area she covers, smaller protection from a shield. Shielding inanimate or alive object doesn't change the amount of stamina she spends.

Noah, even if he got the ability most had, he was above average, it was due to his talent, his ability progressed faster than others.

Everyone's body, except those of a Mages, would naturally improve, making bones, muscles, reflexes, immune system and generally whole body better. This rate of improvement, depending on a person, also can vary.

We were already going around the streets for half an hour, without spotting anyone. Another zombie group was in front of us.

"Stop!" This group was different.

There were 10 zombies, which was average, but there was one that didn't look like others. He was in the center and had white spots over him. I never saw one like that and didn't know what it meant.

"We won't fight them directly, kite them." Beforehand I explained to everyone what kiting meant, its a term used in games for pulling an enemy attacking him while you move away from him, as he chases you.

And so fight began. Aria made icicles and threw them. Aggroing the whole group we started going backwards, Leon and I were already experienced and would attack immediately when they lost balance, surprisingly Noah wasn't that bad either.

Going like this we eliminated five of them, one with white spots was next in the line. Surprisingly he wasn't that different than others. We decided to use a surprise attack, take a right turn and wait behind a corner. And we did exactly that. We were waiting to ambush them.

As we expected zombies still chased us, before they could even get ready to attack us we already killed them, but an abnormal one wasn't there.

"Ahhhh!"

Turning my head around I saw zombie going through the wall extending its hand towards Emma. Not even thinking about Emma's ability I just started running, angry at myself. But there was someone even faster than me, Noah's hand was already in the sky, gritting his teeth he mercilessly put his knife right into its brain, making it fall down.

After confirming Emma was okay I checked zombies corpse. I wasn't sure why there were white spots on him, I already fought against some that had rare abilities like this one, and they were fully black.

My thinking about all kinds of reasons and ideas was stopped as it's chest sunken down. Revealing some sort of white crystal.
